Okay I will
I have been practicing and learning more and more about my car and my abilities over the last 12 to 18 months.
*******************************
A BRIEF LOOK BACK:
- When I first took this car to the drags (E.C.Raceway strip), it went 14.1 @ 107mph.
- Then I turned the boost up and went two tenths slower. (Wheelspin).
- When I went back again (the bug had bitten), I was elated to find that I had broken into the 13's. 13.9 @ 103mph from memory with a 2.2 60' .
- This was the eye opener. I had gone as fast as 107mph previously but hadn't run a 13 till this.
- A better launch saw the ET's drop at a great rate. Most people (me included) begin by thinking that your ET automatically gets better with more power.
- From here the focus shifted to getting off the line better and with this came much bigger grins
- Fast forward to 2 months ago and my car went 13.0 @ 108mph. No more power than before, same tune, no more boost than before, same tyres as before, same driver as before but with a 60' time of 1.9 sec flat.
******************************
As you can see, it's a far cry from 18 months ago and 14.3 seconds. The mph has hardly changed (the best indicator of power at the drags), but the driver is a whole lot more practiced and has had some helpful advice from friends. I get to the track every chance I can and I'm constantly trying something different.
If I could offer one bit of advice that meant something to everyone it would be this:
-------- Get REALLY good tyres and save your 'power-up' money for when you're maximising the power you already have. ---------
