  8. that's not the same walky that was at Wakefield a week or two ago is it? The most p0werful car ive ever been in is an lj torana. 350 Chev, Vortech V7 blower and 100hp gas... Spun up 484hp (360kW) at the bags at Summernats last year and since then has had a LOT of work. Went for a cruise in it (read:OHMYGODFARKFARKFARK!!!) the other day. Even though it wasnt on the bottle, 400kw@the wheels is something everyone should experience at least once... Cheers.
  9. I agree with people being able to buy there parts from wherever they like, (Japan, SE Asia, Tibet for all I care), but what i have a f***ing huge problem with is people that try to rip off the legitimate importers by understating value of parts, accessories etc in order to pay less GST. Sure the parts are cheaper if you instantly drop 10 points off of the price by not paying GST when it comes in. In THIS situation it is an unfair comparison with aussie retailers Buy from whomever you like but don't expect everyone to like it INCLUDING Australian customs and the ATO. Cheers.
  10. NSW black-on-white "JET-33T" offers over $100 considered. Cheers.
  11. i definitely need one in my new toy! It's only HOURS AWAY NOW!!!!!!!!!! only thing it doesnt have is an alarm. will these work with HKS turbo timers and who in the gong/southern syd could install it? Cheers.
  12. anything further to this??? i.e. what should the exhaust look like in terms of deposit colour etc... im really grasping here. also is the genral consensus that a timing belt change is a good way to start as soon as you get it whether the seller says it has been changed or not? Cheers
  13. Can you guys give me some advice on specific mechanical things to watch out for when buying an R33 gts-t... i.e. Suspension probs motor/gearbox probs any known weaknesses (perish the thought) and lastly, any obvious signs of thrashing or things changed from standard when the claim is that it is "as stock as a rock, mate". Any help greatfully appreciated. Cheers.

Cheers.
  16. Have done a micron over 200 in my 99 mirage and 245 on an old cbr600. Was racing home from work, errr, ummm, on a pvt rd, yeah, ummm, yer that's it with two mates, both of whom were in '90 model preludes and went over the 200 mark for about 30 secs before the road angled up past flat....went down to 160 like i had my brakes on as soon as the angle changed.....gutless turd. the bike was also on the way home from work and had a tiny bit left but i was scared ) Cheers
  17. Apologies in advance for suggesting anything out of place because of my newness to the group. Isn't NISMO a brand name? Just a thought. Cheers
  18. IMHO, it sounds like your wastegate is too small and the quick fix approach that you have taken, whilst being inventive, cheap and innitially effective has only lasted a while due to additional stress on the factory wastegate and actuator arm/spring. If your turbo has been hi-flowed/different wheels installed then it is pushing out more air etc. If the additional pressure/volume is too much for the standard wastegate to get rid of, your boost will rise as if the wastegate were partially closed. Remember, the wastegate is there to get rid of additional boost pressure. ** Imagine you have a 10mm Nylon garden hose. You have always pumped water (air) @ 5psi through this hose (turbo) as that's all the nozzle (wastegate) on the end will allow. The water supply (exhaust gas) however is making much more than 5psi pressure. If you hi-flow the hose to 12mm, you would expect additional water (air) to flow through at a higher pressure but if you still have a nozzle (wastegate) allowing only 5psi there HAS to be an increase in pressure on the water side (inlet side) of the equation. ** Basically you have increased the amount of air that is flowing through to your motor. The wastegate that regulates the AMOUNT of air delivered to the motor is being forced to work too hard with too much air being forced out it before it gets a chance to reach the motor with the unfortunate side-affect that some of this air does. This is where your increasing boost is coming from as you get up in the rev range. I would suggest that it will get gradually worse as time goes on and the additional stress takes it's toll on the turbo components. The addition of a helper spring will help to the extent of allowing the wastegate to open sufficiently to allow this excess air to be released from the system but will obviously only work as far as the standard wastegate can go. Ultimately, get an external wastegate. Sorry for the vague and incomprehensible analogy. It's all i could come up with @ 4:31am... Cheers.
  19. Hi all. I can get these handhelds wholesale from a local electronics distributor with an account with the supplier. We have been using them with much tougher re-chargeable batteries and driving heaps more current through them than standard. (kinda like upping the boost on them ) We get insane range on them, approx 6-8k max on full charge NOT LINE OF SIGHT but they are just typical handhelds otherwise. Can also get vox headsets for them, kinda gay lookin boom mic headsets that operate when you talk into them so you dont have to hold them and push a button. Ill confirm prices tomorrow for all of the above and post here. happy to get as many as you need. Hope this helps Cheers.
  20. As a matter of interest, the Jetta in F&F is the holder of several national titles. A very serious car no matter what it looks like. Cheers.
  21. Hi all. I'm new to the group and very soon to be the proud owner of a Black R33. Anyway, back OT... I always thought that the reason for not increasing the boost past a certain limit (say 10psi) was because of the way the compressor wheel is bonded to the shaft. i.e. when it spins faster to produce more boost pressure, the turbo gets hotter and less efficient and can become un-bonded from the shaft in less than extreme cases. Very bad and potentially expensive. Most aftermarket turbos solve this and in a perfect world, everyone would be able to afford T88-34D titaniums. Cheers. P.S. thanks for the help from people in the channel/club for their sensible advice in the purchase of my new toy.
