Just so as everyone is aware, NGK BCPR7E plugs (V-groove, 7 heat range, copper plugs) are discontinued and no longer available. The S in BCPR7ES stands (in slang) for STANDARD. The ommision of the S can imply a V-Groove plug. This is very general however. More accurately, for BCPR7ES11 ---------------------- BC indicates a Thread size of 14mm and a Hexagon size of 16mm PR denotes the construction type. In this case (P)rotected insulator type - ®esistor type 7 shows the heat rating number - For NGK, the Higher the number the colder - the lower the hotter. E indicates the Thread Reach. E = 19mm (H = 12.7 etc) S tells you the Firing End Construction. - S = Copper Core [or standard] center electrode (Y - V-Groove center, P - Platinum Electrode). 11 is the Spark Gap in mm. ------------------------ There are many other exclusions and exceptions but that covers the more common naming syntax for NGK plugs. Hope this helps. Adrian

Da_Man, reviewing footage from the day and two of your burnouts show clear as day how it's only your left wheel doing the burnout. Hope you're aware of this. Adrian.

I have had to jump start my car with PFC installed a few times now and had no dramas. I beleive the most potential damage is to the car doing the jump starting. Either way I have used an earth on the chassis of my car for the 'ground' and simply clipped the positive clamp onto the + connector under that cover on the drivers side under the bonnet. Clutch starting has gotta be much safer for the electrics doesnt it? Adrian

Heat was ridiculous, organisation was similar. Roy, did you miss the car run 13.0 ?? ;-) I snuck in a grudge match against a 9 sec gemini for the 13.1 but the previous round in eliminations i went a tenth quicker at about the same terminal speed. By the end of the night i was trying ANYTHING to get the shagged, hard tyres to work and snag a 12. It wasnt to be however the speed through the traps lends itself convincingly to a solid 12 so i'm happy. Good to catch up with some people on the day as well - GTR700, hats off. I wouldnt wanna be in Andrej's racing booties for quids!

Thanks for the comments guys... The event definitely could of been run a lot better... YRL05S, if you got there late you wouldve seen the 13.0 and 13.1. Will be much better in the near with tyres that arent as hard as rocks!#@$#@$!#$ 115mph should be more like 12.0 - 12.5 not 13.0 !!! Adrian

Important Details for Drag Combat Competitors
2rismo replied to 2rismo's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Mine arrived yesterday arvo, Andrew. Keep an eye out today and if you still don't have them, call Damien. Adrian -
All race/show/spl entries will come through the competitor gate entry. Gates open @ 7am for drag competitors and 8am for show/spl entries. There you must show your enclosed tickets to security/staff. All additional people in the car (outside of nominated allowable crew) will pay the $30.00 spectator fee at this point. Spectator entry is from 10am. Once you have entered the pits you will be directed to your area. Once you unload your car if you have an open trailer or support vehicle, please park it in the trailer area. Your vehicle must go through WSID Scrutineering. At this point you must sign a waiver, release and indemnity form at which time you and your crew will receive arm bands as well as lanyards. These forms are not to be signed unless you have read the form and are satisfied that you understand it. Your vehicle will receive a race number which will be written on your cars windows along with your class. Once you have passed scrutineering and have all your passes/armbands, get your car ready for qualifying and keep an ear on the PA system for important information and your class call. There is a posssibility that there will also be a drivers briefing at Drag Combat to which you are strongly advised to attend. -------------------- Please note that some requirements are in place as per ANDRA and track rules and regs: 1. If your vehicle is unregistered and you want to race, you must have an ANDRA tech inspection. You need to arrange this with ANDRA. 2. If you run 10.99 or quicker (10.50 for bikes) you will need an ANDRA UDL licence which is valid for 12 months and your car will require an ANDRA tech inspection. If you have run 11.50 in the past and have recently put some performance mods on your car and run 10.99 or quicker then you will be 'on the trailer'. --------------------- That's about it folks. Oh, and don't forget your tickets! Best Regards, Adrian

There is an old edition of Zoom Magazine that goes into dry sumps fairly well. Has an interesting setup featured too. They can help to rectify surge problems at the drags and in circuit racing type environments. Definitely a job for the pros though. I will try and find the issue number when I get home tonight. This means the chance to race, shine, burnout, break or polish your car on an international stage and tremendous exposure for the club. The banner is well on its way and we will have extra stickers for all cars displaying. I don't think I need to tell you how big this series is going to be any more. Some of the QLD guys and girls are already entering and we have a reasonable group entry for Rnd 1. We could always use more so if you're even considering entering, why not come and do so with a bunch of other Skyline enthusiasts?!?! If anyone has any questions or queries, please feel free to contact me on 0416271834 or email: [email protected] Regards, Adrian
