  1. Steves turbo was a little different. Was an older style 3037 and T25 flange I think. Otherwise yeah your right cubes would be awesome when compared to my 2835 Pro S. With my head and cams my turbo is badly running out off puff at 310 rwkw running 20psi. Perhaps what I should have gone for.
  2. Never used to until the new head went on. But not sure if that was the exact time.
  3. Hi all. Wondering if anyone is getting rediculously high knock indications. Pretty sure it started happening once the solid lifters went in the head however am getting high knock indications when just driving around at 60kmh. Reads 45 to 60 knock. At around 6000 rpm it will knock briefly (light) then it dissapears. Doesnt really happen on the dyno however. Happy the tune is fine and not audible to the ear even with a headset/tube on the motor. Is it possible the knock detector is faulty? Any similar experiences.
  4. Correct it is 0.87 ar housing. I can actually physically see the wastegate opening around 5000 rpm. I have crudely measured the pressure in the housing to be 40 psi at around this point.
  5. Certainly a bit to think about there. I currently have an aftermarket exh manifold, Greddy plenum, Q45 thrott body, Z32 afm, 3.5 inch exh turbo back, Head with HKS GTR 256 cams bigger valves variable cam timing etc etc Currently not keen to spend too much more money. Just that currently I do have an extra HKS 2835 ProS housing as well as a whole turbo setup. If I thought I could sell my turbo and make use of the extra housing for little extra dollars I would do it. Sounds like the 2835 Pro S housing will be no good for oversizing because as you say there is no meat to the wastegate side. At this stage I am not too keen to play around with external gate setups. All I want to do is setup a turbo that gives me my current 300rwkw and holds boost, as cheaply as possible utilising some of what I have. To keep the current exh housing would have been good as it matches a u-bewt dump I had made with seperate wastegate side etc. Currently having issues with high knock values as well possible due to solid lifters however may start another thread on that. Just thinking that the turbo if starting to blow hot air may not be helping.
  6. Running 21 psi which drops off to 15 psi up top. I have tried everything from heavy actuators, extra springs, dual actuators but the wastegate gets pushed open. Dont get me wrong I make heaps of power with it. Probably beyond its potential. I even bolted up a 0.86 exh housing thinking more flow but still does it. I lost some mid range but got 320rwkw. Now I have the extra housing I am thinking I could sell off the 2835 match up a turbo to the extra housing which matches my dump etc. Pobably considering the GT35 turbo with the HKS housing. It may need machining however maybe.
  7. I have a spare 0.86 Pro S exh housing that I am considering matching a turbo to. My current 2835 ProS on RB 25 is running out of puff and need something with a larger compressor. I am considering fitting up either a GT30/35 turbo to it. What are peoples thoughts. I am currently making 300rwkw but the turbo is working hard and dropping boost badly up top. Pobably producing suerheated air. I basically have a GTR head and heaps of flow. Does anyone recommend any workshops. GCG is one that comes to mind.

  9. I have two driving sims that after a while become jerky to control. I have a reasonably powerful computer with dual core cpu, 2 gig ram, 256 mb GTX 7000 series video card. I am using a hand controller. The games are V8 III and Need for speed Underground. Have tried proritising the game to High processing with no help. Seems like the CPU might be heating or something weird. Thanks for any help in advance.
  10. Take it to 20 psi. The turbo can take it. I have the same turbo. I have made 310rwkw all be it with head work, greddy plenum and exhaust manifold. This could be worth 30rwkw extra so yours should reach at least 270rwkw. You may need some octane boost as we have 98 RON. Run 12 AFR and maybe 15 deg base timing or a little more conservative if your worried and slowly lean on it. Keep an eye on detonation etc. 250rwkw should be easily achievable.
  11. Thanks for everyones replies. I have started having a look and there are lots of options. Eclipse has caught my attention and there is a model with 5V preout for the mid $350. However it has 1 bit DAC (including the Pioneer 6850)and some other brands can have 24 bit D/A Have also been offered a Pioneer 5850 for $538 with extra waranty. This model has Burr Brown D/A ???? 6.5v preouts, BMX and Listening Pos stuff.
  12. Just after some opinions of what are the good Headunits at the moment. Prices roughly if you know as well. What brands are best too. After MP3 capability.
  13. I have just put the unit back in after removing one to go to another car. When new it was Ok. Now I can hit the side of the dash with my hand and make it skip everytime. Pretty sure it is knackered.
  14. Its in quiet secure with a couple of screws either side and wedged in the cradle. It doesnt skip with the radio so I guess its the disc drive side and not connections. Pretty sure its the disc side just need to know if maybe a simple clean or alignment may fix it. If that all costs too much then I guess I am up for a new one or good condition second hand one.
  15. I went over to F1 where as part of the Autosalon display the Vic SAU guys were included. Talking to them the deal was $100 entry fee for two tickets and bring your car in for 4 days. Not a bad deal I thought.

  19. With regards to the sway bars. I believe it should be sitting on the wheels when all done up. I did mine on the jack stands would this be an issue. Also have people done the cradle bushes on stands etc or use a proper hoist. Once again ment to be done when sitting on the wheels.
  20. I realise everyone is setting their cars up to be the same height all round (350mm as recommended) however is it best to do it with yourself sitting in the car. Obviously would be weighed down a bit on the drivers side.
  21. Any after market wheels I have had fitted they stay on. Just the stockies dont fit.
  22. yeah took them off nad the wheels fit fine.
  23. Trying to bolt on some standard wheels for the first time ever. However seems to be blocked by these plastic holders. Are they standard or not? Thanks
