  1. i think 300kw is enough, just want to improve the low and mid range.
  2. If i need 2 external pumps to run E85 then i wont be going down that route, will be doing water/meth instead.
  3. yeah thats what i thought, if you know what your doing shouldnt it be fairly obvious? heres a pic

  5. I never knew anything about bleeding lifters, how would i check that? I just spoke to Horsepower solutions at capalaba, he says it could be related to reversion in the intake pipe because the airflow meter is used by the power fc so thats what controls the idle? but he'd have to charge me a dyno fee to look at the tune, so $650 He also said id need 2 044Bosh pumps to run E85??? that sounds extreme to me..
  6. I think the car is playing games with me lol.. after a 10min drive, the car was idling like a full on rotary, i guess it wouldnt hurt to go see horsepower solutions at capalaba then, fairly local, but im getting a bit over all the $$$$ thats getting poured into this car.. It is getting to the point of the 8hr drive, i seem to recall the very first time i started the car with those cams it idles almost normal with just a slight miss, only things that have changed are the tune and the Z32 air flow.. i think ill have a look at the maps then to see if it looks odd. what would i be looking for anyway? what area on a power fc would you look at for this idle stuff?
  7. seems to be alot in the tuning of cars, when i had my highflow and got it back from mercury, it pulled hard and straight away 2500rpm to 4500rpm when before it would bog down for a second, i was thinking that was the guttered cat but also the duty cycle and settings on the power fc... is your boost control setup well? dont know if a turbo smart controller is any good, what about an apexi AVCR , you can wake the turbo up a bit more earlier on.
  8. might consider seeing if EFI can give it a couple of runs and tell me if its a crap tune or not, shouldn't cost too much hopefully.. im getting the feeling and by the smell on idle and the big puff of smoke on WOT that maybe its a little too safe and too rich, the throttle is very jumpy too, could this even be related to ignition timing too advanced for cruising??? resembles a car with 10:1 compression or somting..your either engine braking or your taking off ...
  9. mines always done that too, unless its already on 3000rpm then its almost instant response.
  10. better be worth it or ill be bordering psycho lol... bring out a shot gun or somthing hahaha. now ... lets tune this huh??? and do it right huh?? ill sit here with my bourbon and you tune that dam car haha joking.. but seriously.. can only go thru so much $$$ with tuners or else ill just go for a SS Ute and forget it..
  11. thats a good point, maybe they can just do a quick run and look at the maps , its hard to know who to trust with tuning, they all spin there stories, im thinking DVS is the go, seems to have alot of credit on these forums.
  12. my cas is brand new so maybe that just highlights the tune again, every time i pull up at some traffic lights people thing im ready for a drag lol... pretty funny. its similar to victa bray's burn out chevvy haha rah rah rah rah cant complain when the hammer is down though, in second gear on a bar, the back end was wanting to turn 180 degrees, bit scary. maybe i should just use it like a burn out car and forget street driving
  13. I really dont know if this is my tuners fault, hes tuned many many high horsepower cars, one GTR on ignition DVD which put out 850HP and without proof i dont want to give him a bad name.. i think hes a good bloke, a tuner can only do what they can with what there given. so is it the consensus that its the tuner??? im starting to think that the whole laggy turbo response could even be these cams, what do more extreme cams do? is it possible that i was mistakenly given more extreme cams that are causing massive duration??
  14. well at the risk of getting flamed, i did originally go to ERD for my dump and it ended up with a 4week wait, and not his fault he was very busy and i got impatient and decided to pick it up, anyway, the dump was rubbing on the body so it wasnt right, and no hanger to support it and i got the shits with the whole thing, now EFI is part of that workshop so should i really take it back there... ???? i dont know.. seems like a bad experience to me.
  15. gees thats like a 8hr drive, hope i get some kind of discount, and that it doesnt some how blow up on the dyno, cause dam thats a long long way to get home, id end up just torching the car like on Monster Garage, jess james style hahaha
  16. nice engine bay, looks simple and effective without any excess try hard additions
  17. I tell ya im getting so annoyed with tuners and not getting the results $$$ has been spend here... Maybe when i go E85 ill just take the drive and give him a go, cant do any worse surely..
  18. Im getting tired of going thru tuners tonight it was going weird too, started hunting like the power fc was reset or somthing, then came good, also noticed a massive cloud of smoke after a squirt in second, was enough to fill the street up, thats the second time ive noticed this...
  19. This may have been covered before but i need some clarification, I have tomei cams 256 8.5lift, car has been tuned and ive been assured by tuner that the mixtures are fine and he showed me that that changing the mixture made no difference. Im ruling out vacum leaks cause it seems to behave under throttle, but at light throttle it wants to jerk and under 2000rpm it will be jerky if you dont put the hammer down. is this just normal with these cams or are my injectors dripping? With these cams will i foul up my plugs if im doing alot of slow off boost/idling style driving? I noticed after a squirted it in second and came on full boost, then pulled up at drive way it was behaving itself , and just 5mins before it was stalling on me.... any thoughts?
  20. Atmo bov's are not so popular round here, you might want to just put a stock one on before you run into all sorts of stalling and rough running and police attention too
  21. ok well sounds like 300kw on whatever boost with E85 to make it safe as possible and hopefully a fat mid range and ill hang my hat up n call it a day
  22. ive used my EL falcon 6 to tow my skyline a few times, seems upto the task, its old but does the job, i wouldnt use any commodore 6's i dont think they have the torque to pull a heavy load the falcon seems very comfortable once you get going off the line, but i towed a falcon ute on the car trailer just last week and they must be a shitload heavier, the rear end felt like it had a mind of its own over 60kph, pretty scary...
  23. well going off the tuners advice, once again here, i was told its the heat that kills the motor, the 98pump fuel when you get too high in boost you start going backwards, and the exhaust valves start to burn , but if i was using E85 he said he would go upto 1.5bar and still be safe on a stock motor, and it would except alot more ignition timing, so is that really saying the motor is on borrowed time with what would be 320kw plus on a stock engine???? sounds like its not to do with the power but more to do with the temperature of the combustion process, so a 300kw engine could blow on 98 but a E85 could be happy on 340kw if the combustion was cool and under control.??? is that right?
  24. hmm, i shoulda coulda got a 300zx, they were a bit cheaper than a R33 at the time but thought 2 of everthing that takes alot of $$$ maybe one day lol
  25. I think your right, So even on E85 will the stock motor have limited life?? i dont bounce off limiter or do any track days or drag, its 99% street use.. anyone want a GTX3076 without rear in perfect condition?? what if i just changed the compressor wheel would that make it a GT3076 and change the boost threshold????
