  1. I was thinking about it, but do you think that is really necessary for 300rwkw and a povo build? Only be reving it to 7,000rpm, maybe a tiny bit higher if others think its safe to, and if the turbo has enough puff.
  2. Hey guys I have a standard RB25 that is laughing at my 300rwkw. (Loves the water meth though). It has some small problems, like the sump gasket leaking, and the synchros need a service etc. Engine and gearbox have to come out to fix these problems, so while they are out, lets just put a RB30 back in there? lol. So what I want to do, is install a standard built RB30 and sell off my Complete RB25. What I have: RB25 complete head, lightly ported. RB30 NA Block complete Still built, only head off, only 160,000kms, hone marks still in bore. GTR Oil Pump Ok so here is my plan: 1. RB30 block dissasembled, acid bathed, xrayed, honed and decked slightly. Maybe a little more to raise the compression a tiny bit. 2. Drill and tap hole for New tensioner. 3. Head cleaned and reconned. 4. Grub Screw VCT oil feed in head, and do the internal VCT oil feed mod, block rear oil feed, 1mm restrictor in front feed. 5. GTR oil pump cleaned and checked. 6. Get crank checked. Fit crank collar. 7. Assemble RB30 Block with original pistons, rods, and crank. New Rings, main and big end bearings. 8. Bolt head on with Head gasket (not sure what I use yet) 9. New Water pump, timing belt, RB25 Harmonic balancer. 10. Screw cleaned up, milled, and sealed china copy side mount intake manifold onto head. 11. Install Injectors, Water meth, throttle body. 12. Install Exhaust manifold. 13. Install Turbo (GT3037) with a 0.82 rear housing. 14. Have exhaust modified, and intake piping fixed. Install big ass f**k off stupid twirly, duck whistle, fluttering blow off valve so women take their clothes off and jump into the car. Install Factory BOV, and plumb back. 15. Drop engine back into car. 16. Install Gearbox. 17. Run in on dyno, maybe just on the street. 18. Drive around. 19. Run 11's down the quarter. 20. Post a thread on SAU about it. Questions: 1. What rings should I buy for the standard pistons? - Can anyone recommend any? 2. What bearings, and what clearances should I run? 3. Have I missed anything stupidly important or worth mentioning? Car has Nismo 555's, GT3037, WMI, 600x300x75 IC, 3.5inch exhaust, Powerfc, I tune it, etc. Currently making an easy 310rwkw+ on 20psi. Been like that for 2 years now, and compression tests are all still consistant and high. Wish I new if it had forgies or not, its a bit of a weird one to be honest with you. I'll have a look when I have the sump off.
  3. there is a search function, and if you do not know these things then I suggest you take your engine to a engine builder, and not try to do it yourself.
  4. can you give us a little more detail in your mods? You might need a fuel cooler. Also, do you really need a surge tank? Do you drift \ race? Are you making over 500hp?
  5. ummm, so you expect the engine to run, even though you have forgotten the main part of the RB25\30 build? Good luck... And no, take the head off and grub screw it.
  6. Dyno might be reading a bit high. Standard afm does sound a bit dodgey though. And I wouldn't be pushing that much fuel through standard 15 year old injectors for too long.
  7. I've pulled out many RB20 and RRB25 ECU's and that does not look standard. And nissan certainly does not wrap wires with "blue electrical tape" Are you talking about the brown electrical plug? Looks like its had some sort of interceptor ECU on there before. Maybe a harness for a SAFC of EManage, unichip, etc?
  8. there is a massive thread on it here somewhere. I also tuned one today, in an R33 with a 3037 and a heap of other goodies. Making over 300rwkw now. Fantastic ECU.

  11. they are a shit pump mate. They have a bad mount, are noisy, and will fail prematurely. Grab a Nismo 275lph pump. They slot straight into the tank like a factory item as they have their own bracket. VERY quiet too. (I have one) Good for 350rwkw.

  16. Can I offer $400 for Rb25de non vct head from a R32. Head has been cleaned, new valve stem seals, heavy duty springs for turbo application and surface machined flat. Inlet manifold, injectors and fuel rail, throttle body and all bolts/miscelanious pipes etc - $650 I do not want the inlet manifold, Injectors, throttle body, and bolts \ pipes. Just the head. If the fuel rail is the same as the R33 Turbo rail I'll take that though. Let me know.
  17. Hi Everyone I bought an entire engine for almost free ages ago for obvious reasons. Now I have stripped the head with the intentions to start building a 3.0l. BUT, this looks bad. I assume its not worth getting fixed? Someone said something about getting it line bored, but then I'd need custom cams etc. Thats just adding to unneeded expense, as I have a GT3037 and 555cc injectors, and are quite happy with 300rwkw, I just want the extra torque, and a fresh, standard built, 3.0l DOHC motor.
  18. only thing I can confirm is those rods - They are definately GTR rods. Nice and thick.
  19. if you are hitting 14-15 afrs when on boost \ full load, please stop driving the car and fix whatever the problem is. If you don't, you're engine is going to go bang, and very VERY soon. They should be below 12:1 for safe operation under full load. You may have a stuffed fuel pump.

  21. just letting you know - I have a GT3037 with a 0.63 rear and a 0.6 compressor cover, 3 inch off the dump, 3 inch pipe through the cat, and 3.5 inch all the way with a muffler and cannon. Standard exhaust manifold, and intake. Standard cams, standard head. Car is making 310rwkw and holds 20psi from 3200rpm in third right to the limiter and doesn't spike or drop off. I have a gizmo boost controller and a fairly tight 9psi wastegate actuator. What size rear housing do you have? I don't recommend the 0.63 unless you have water meth. 0.82 is the best.

  23. Hey, just wondering if anyone had some Microtech L12 Base maps and settings for the RB25. I'm going to tune my mates car (for free) and I need somewhere to get started. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it and give any advice that I can if they need some help. Thanks Jono
  24. So you're running 18psi on a stock turbo, ECU etc? Thats awesome. I bet it sounds awesome It will dose much harder if you block the Blow off valve right up, just unbolt it, cut up a coke can to the shape and block it like that. Will sound f**king awesome. Can you get us some vids?
