  1. okay bare with me here cos it might sound strange but........ I think modern cars have too much grip and handle too well... when they do finally let go its at a much higher speed... also they tend to be much heavier than older cars so when they start sliding its much harder to reign them in that coupled with the fact that we refuse to teach P platers how to control an out of control car or even emergency brake Young people should learn to drive on cars without the electronic aids, cars that have a smaller grip threshold and are generally more difficult to drive... young guys just like to take it to the edge, doesn't matter where that edge is... if its an older car that edge will be at half the speed of a modern XR6 my mates first car, a '78 datto would top out at 140km/h (and take half an hour to get there)... at that speed it felt like the world was ending, like the car would come apart...
  2. its my understanding that lift and duration have different effects too... duration refers to where in the rev range they are most efficient and increased lift means more airflow at that rpm (which usually means more power) I've got 260º 10.8mm cams but engine builder reckons he would just go back to standard cams for my car, no real gain to be had in his opinion... but I like the sound lol
  3. great point
  4. sooo who's going to invite Ken to our next Knox meet? I think its funny Ken has only 9 points left on his license and moi who drives a 600hp GTR every day has all 12... bahahahahaha tut tut tut, clearly I'm more of a responsible driver than him
  5. damn... vids like this make me want to sell the R and go old school... what a noise:)
  6. Nismo Super Coppermix twin plate... lots of guys running it with that power level and I haven't heard a bad review yet
  7. haha now that is the truth!
  8. beaten to the punch by the big man... happy new year mate:)
  9. There is always a driver briefing which will outline the rules for the day You won't be put in a group with any cars that are heaps faster than you for starters but it always pays to keep an eye on your mirrors... if a car comes up behind you you simply move over and point at which side you would like them to pass on... most trackdays don't allow passing in corners anyway The first time you go out you will have an instructor in the car with you who will show you the braking areas, lines etc Go along to a Driver Dynamics day, they are untimed and relaxed so you won't have anyone bullying you to get past... they also have experienced instructors on hand to help you out I wouldn't worry too much about hitting walls, if you can manage to get around the back track at DECA without hitting anything you should be right... mechanical breakages do happen though but with N/A you should find it quite reliable Good luck:)
  10. yeah I think for a standard car, or lightly modded they work great... just if your planning to do power upgrades or get serious about track work its best to go for the non Vspec diff one of the best mods I did for the old car was ditch the standard LSD... it was just unpredictable, made it hard to drive the car fast... but then again it was pretty shagged must admit I've never driven GTR or GTSt with the active diff so I'm half talking out my arse;)
  11. if you plan on chasing power non-Vspec is the way to go... the diff is the strongest of the GTR diffs and can be easily upgraded for more aggressive lock as its mechanical/clutch pack type The Vspec diff is viscous (fluid) like the GTSt diff and can't really be modified... and as Paul has stated they kinda suck ass;)
  12. can't have lights, music and smoke without eccies bro... I'll bring some... hidden in my pod filter...
  13. I somehow managed a 27 person kill streak last night... chopper gunner rules lol I'll chuck SAU clan tag on, if anyone wants to add me I'm lowdexGTR
  14. if you want more response there's always the option of running GTS4 diffs... cheaper than going to 2.8L mmmm V-Cam... out of curiosity what's the HKS V-Cam priced at in Aus$?
  15. yes I know I'm a bit slow but that's me
  16. E46 M3 with E46 M5 V8 in it... Hartge used to do one and it was niiiice
  17. 2 seconds a lap hey... hmmmm... that seems a bit far fetched still cool though:)
  18. oh noes not the bunny! the ONLY family pet we ever had was a crazy albino rabbit... called fluffy... you can thank my sister for the creative name Modena: WTF are you on about... I have a well paying job that I LIKE going to everyday, a beautiful wife, great friends and family... what have I failed at? The OP has already stated money isn't everything and he's actually got some... I'll be taking his word over yours I think its funny how the OP manages to sound humble and friendly whilst posting pictures of his Porsches and golf hole in his back garden... you come of sounding boring and arrogant, whilst listing a Corolla as your car... you must have a great talent for alienating people
  19. Snowy logic has no place here... this is a forum

    My New Car!

mmmm latte... don't you go spilling any in that nice new car! a man from Audi probably comes out to clean up any spills lol
  21. I had a Cusco 2 way in my street/track car and it was fine... you have to be a real muppet to spin the car on deceleration... you really should be braking in a straight line anyway but its not going to kill you if you carry a little brake into the corner... they are not quite as scary as people would have you believe but do take a little getting used to

    My New Car!

you did get one afterall, good work they're a damn nice car... and will look even better with Volks Euro is nice and all but I still like seeing the look of disapproval on my neighbours faces when I drive past... I thought I would get more sensible with age but it hasn't happened yet Nice Audi Adz... very stylish... did you get the optional latte holders?
  23. its really his 2nd practical sports car... you can fit 2 adults in the back of a 33GTR no problem never understood why people sell their cars as soon as the wife is pregnant... kids are small, they fit in small places... hell I used to fit in the back of dads Lancia/Alfa/MG etc... even me and a couple of mates... no seatbelts of course... great for playing 'corners'... and dad would only be too happy to oblige us by flinging the car round so we could squish each other... aaah those were the days
  24. nice find Ash! aaaah fun times
  25. had to laugh, was walking up to get some lunch yesterday and there was a Aston V8 Vantage sitting there with a young kid going nuts over it... he was lining it up to take a photo on his phone when a F430 drove past behind it... he didn't know where to look or what to take a photo of... made me chuckle, I hope he got them both in the same shot
