  1. I must be impatient but if that takes me 5 years I'll be fckn upset... States are on the weekend and I'm already unhappy with my total... even if I make every lift... I'm quickly tiring of not being competitive... I want a fckn medal! maybe Max will let me hold his lol You make a good point in regards to bodyweight... I just meant it as a rough guide for the average sized bloke... I forgot you actually post advice in this thread
  2. everyone's different so not really a question you can answer my initial goals when I started powerlifting were a 2 x bodyweight squat, 1.5 x bodyweight bench press and a 2.5 x bodyweight deadlift... I've got the squat and dead but still 5kg off the bench

I was the complete opposite... but my bench is coming along now... finally training alone you will find the deadlift the easiest to go close to your 1rm... the other lifts you really need decent spotters for... squat you can set the pins up to catch the bar should you fail but I always found squatting without the pins meant you had no choice but to make the rep... even if it was a little shallow or ugly... squatting needs a tough mental approach, most people are stronger than they realise... the more time you spend doing it the more confident you get and the more strength you can tap into

  8. yeah I tried it... just gets in the way... probably just need more practice... I'm more comfortable without so that's the way I'm doing it for now

  10. good work Mitch... it's amazing how quickly it comes along if you've put the work in early in the program... never let the doubt creep in... If you expect to fail you will give up that much easier... trust in the program!
  11. no 250 yet but slowly getting there... okay from the floor, need to work on my grip and lock out
  12. I had a dream I deadlifted 250kg last night... maybe it was a premonition... time to go find out hehe
  13. good squat... strong kid... I have new motivation, don't get beaten by the teenager lol
  14. yeah not sure where that 130 came from today... still feeling really flat but managed a 7.5kg PB... weird maybe it was due to benching with Martin... he has so much strength he left some on the bench and I must've absorbed it lol
  15. he's very patient and focused... I'd back him to be over 700kg this year for sure I trained yesterday at PCYC and had absolutely nothing... probably pushed myself a bit too hard, the stuffy nose and high temp came back last night... stupid cold has completely zapped me... still plenty of time to fully recover before states though... hopefully I can do some more quality heavy stuff this week, I'd like at least another sessions practice in the knee wraps no excuses, I'll be ready come comp time and nothing bar a freak natural disaster is stopping me from a 200+kg squat then 600+ at Nats..................
  16. True, it's a sickness lol except I'm sick for real this week... my head is full of snot and even dragging my ass out of bed is a chore... not... fckn... happy... a couple of weeks out from states and I'm missing training sessions... I better make a miraculous recovery tomorrow!
  17. my mate swears by that craze stuff... but he gets out lifted by girls so I never bothered with it I'm glued to the couch watching basketball today... just those couple of tough grind squats yesterday have broken me might just lay down on that comfy new bench tomorrow
  18. you can always start on the 120 and if it get's too difficult drop back to the 115 mid way through... 15kg is a big jump for bench
  19. cheers last week was easy, I felt like I could go much heaver... this week was just 5kg more but was super tough... I have burst a blood vessel in my eye, look like a stoner lol... need more practice in the wraps I also did 115kg x 3 on the bench press yesterday which is a PR... not very impressive I know but I'm making progress which is nice poor Martin
