  1. Maybe I should have, you're right. But as we all know, the majority of Commonwhore owners can barely type, let alone photoshop. I joined this site because Skyline guys know way more about getting power out of the RBs, have a look at how many 1000HP VLs there are, then how many 1000HP Skylines. Clearly you guys are doing things better. Regardless, please no more posts in this thread. I realise I did the wrong thing, I don't need reminding.
  2. I asked a mod to close this thread, I realise I've stepped on a few toes, my apologies. I'm not going any further with this thread as I can see that more and more people are getting pissed off with me. Anybody actually interested in how I intend to make a 20 year old POS into something decent will probably find it on some rubbish Commondore site. Please, don't bother replying to this topic telling me I'm wrong, I get that people don't like the car, just let the thread die.
  3. Trying to keep this thread on track, but must I point out. We all know about the "parity" rules of V8 supercars. These rules keep one car from getting an advantage over the other. None of the other cars at Superlap were built with these rules in mind. You really don't think a V8 could develop more than 700HP? And tell me that you honestly think it ran as much downforce as the Evos were running, not a chance. There are 100 other parity rules I could go into, but it doesn't matter. I can see too many people getting pissy about this, so I'll just take it elsewhere.
  4. Can't help but laugh at the number of people putting their money on the GTR. They're quick, undoubtedly, but really. Check how many AWD cars are below 10 seconds in Australia, heck in the world. Now check for under 10s RWD. You'll be going for years sorting through how many RWD cars there are. They've been developing RWD drag cars for a lot longer, AWD is still playing catch up in this field. And can I ask, if you can put all your power through two wheels without spin, why do you need the front wheels working too? AWD was developed for when you couldn't do that. In short, my money's on the GTT.
  5. Insult it if you want, that's the whole point of the build. If a "boat" as you call it can take the fight to Australia's best Skylines, hopefully the Skylines will step up their game. The whole point of this build was not to prove what a great car Commodores are (they're really quite shit), but to prove that the Australian cars aren't developed enough. Hopefully a Commodore competing at this level will make people such as yourself angry enough that they go out and develop their cars further in an effort to beat it. As for those interested in the photoshopping, I see this more as a chance for someone to show off their skills, rather than "hey everyone, a commondore is a great prize". It's meant more as a "look what I can do with photoshop" kind of thread. I just figure that offering a prize will bring out people's competitive nature. It's not about what you win, it's about being the one who won.
  6. Signature #239. There's no real reason to hold it back. The oil companies get enough income holding back new developments. Sacrificing progress for their profits. I hope this goes through. It may cost us a few backers, but it also makes the greenies happier, and anything that makes them ease off on closing our race tracks is a good thing in my opinion.
  7. I was building 1/24 and 1/25 scale cars until I got stuck into my 1/1 scale. Mostly muscle cars, but modified. To name a few, I have a fully tubbed Dodge Coronet with huge rear tires and skinny front as well as a tunnel ram (finished it off with real grease in the engine bay), half way through a space-frame Dodge Charger with a custom supercharger kit, slicks and two-tone paint. Took my damaged R34 and was in the process of grafting the chassis into a Mustang Fastback, and was building a Pro Touring Oldsmobile Cutlass using a Corvette chassis. Also very close to finishing a VIP style Lexus GS300, but ran out of model cement. One day I'll finish them, but right now I don't have the time.
  8. Wasn't the GIO car the sister car to the Gibson R32? If that's as close as anyone can buy to such a historical piece, you can guarantee huge $$$, well over what the parts together are worth. I know I'd just about sell my soul for it, and I'm generally a muscle car guy. The controversy, the brilliant development... *starts drooling* I can only hope my commodore would have half as many brilliant ideas in it.
  9. I'm looking for a race system, straight out the side. No fancy tips, and only mufflers if I absolutely have to.
  10. Loving the old school ride, Ta22s are great little cars. If you want to go modern, it seems a lot of people are going the SR20 route. I don't know much about it, but I'd say for it to be as common as it is, there would be a reason.
  11. Agreed. And to the guys saying an AWD will have a quicker launch, not always. RWD is just as fast if you can get the grip, it's just getting it is not easy. Ask any top end drag racer. They've kept RWD for a reason. If you can put the power down with just the rear wheels, you can be just as quick, if not quicker. Why do you think Top Fuel still runs RWD? It's not for nostalgia's sake.
  12. 48 pages now, and if you need any help, I know a guy who can make just about anything disappear.
  13. Guys, I need some help finishing off the plans for my time attack car. I'm trying to work out what brakes to use, and was thinking of V8 Supercar items (would have to convert centres back though). The problem is, everywhere I look tells me they're something different. I was also looking as Mark Berry runs (to the best of my knowledge) Alcon items. Can anyone give me any information on either set-up, or anything similar?
  14. Where on earth do I get one put together? I saw a company at Superlap that did them, but I stupidly didn't get any details. Can anybody help me out? Mods: I don't know if this is the right section, I apologise if you need to move it.
  15. I picked this body up for less. My old man had it, it's been in the family for a few years. He told me "if you can fix it up and register it, it's yours". Now I'm getting another car for that, and the vl will be a track car. A previous owner ran the gearbox without any fluids (amazingly it still works), then it was passed on to my father, who has broken basically every car on the indestructible list. How it's still alive I have no idea, in such good condition I have even less of a clue. All I know is that something will break when I race it, just don't know what yet. Luckily, 99% of this car will be getting replaced anyway.
  16. I'm liking those figures, especially at just 14psi. Gotta love the older cars, they can bag us out for not having all the technology, but at the end of the day they're still damn good cars. Just fighting the urge now to buy an R31, especially when I need to get another car next fortnight. Gotta say, looking at yours makes it hard to resist, but I need a tow car unfortunately.
  17. 600whp? Then I'll be watching this build VERY closely. Sounds like it'll be absolutely nuts when it's done. By the way, how does this car go for balance? Or shouldn't I ask?
  18. For the more experienced photoshoppers I have a huge job that I need done. I need images of my commodore as it will look for Superlap, design sketches if you will, to present my sponsors with. The problem is, the car does not look anything like what the finished product will. Basics? I need a colour change, wide-body kit, wing, wheels, lowered stance and more. I can supply images or you can use others if you find them more suitable (the car's front and rear will be based on a pre-existing kit, though modified somewhat). Please, only experienced photoshoppers apply, I know how to chop wheels or change colour myself, it's the bigger things like the kit and wing that I struggle with. Submit your best photoshop effort of any image, and the person I choose will have the details of my car's visuals (this is information I am trying to keep as quiet as possible). This car is being built in secret as a surprise attack on Superlap, so I can't give away too many details. Good luck to anyone who enters. Trackracer88
  19. Loving it. I used to do hillclimb, and once lined up a mate that had whacked a turbo on one. We had an unofficial burnout contest at the start line, until he tried to hit second gear while it was hard into the boost in first. Promptly blew the gearbox to bits. That said, before it blew up that little Alfa ran hard. Can't wait to see how this one turns out. p.s. everyone knows the red button is the go fast button;)
  20. Agreed that WRC USED TO BE the best motorsport around. I was involved in rallying for a while, ran an AE86 Trueno notchback. Wicked fast and fun, but rally is all but dead. It's getting harder and harder to get approval to run events, and more teams keep pulling out on many different levels. It's sad to say, but in Australia at least, rally won't be around much longer. And if lower level rally dies, you can bet they won't see reason to fund WRC events. That's why I've been building up a Superlap car, was going to build a rally car but couldn't justify the outlay for maybe a season or two of use.
  21. It looks good so far, can't wait to see the end result.
  22. Just priced what this engine roughly would have cost, and your price starts to look very cheap. I'll need to go talk to a few people and see what I can organise. If I can get the money together before someone beats me to it, I'll probably take the box as well. Do you have any more information on the box?
  23. Proper engine? How much more power do you need? *thinks about own plans* Oh, right.
  24. That looks fantastic. I was going to simply make my parts out of fibreglass and paint it all, but after seeing this, I feel confident enough to add a bit of carbon to my car. Well done.
  25. Couldn't reply to your pm, I haven't been enough of a post whore yet. I'm chasing sponsors at the moment, it all depends on which one bites first. That said, I have a better chance than most in this area, though I won't rant on about why. It's a bit is a "how long is a piece of string?" question, could be this week, could be a few weeks away. If you don't want to wait then I understand. I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for this sort of set-up.
