hey guys I am no good at reading compressor maps, but I have some steel wheel GTR turbos and I want to know where their efficency lies at???? what boost will they be be spinning too fast and blowing too much hot air and heat???? want to run them at about 18psi maybe 20, just squirt it now and then, with NO track work etc, cheers

looks like wil be pulling everthing out again, fark. So to get the tension right, slacken off the bolt and allow the spring to take the tension from the belt then rotate engine a few times and just use hex key to keep tension in belt then tighten nut. Is that the technique???? hope I can get the harmonic balancer bolt off again, thats a bitch to do.
-
Thanks for the reply's guys I think I will see how i go and if there is no change I will have to re tension it or take it to a mechanic and as their opinion and have them do it or depending how much it annoys me then do it on the next few days and add to the mountainous cuts I have on my hands. Such a pain of a job to do the first time but now could do it with some confidence. Cheers

Hey guys I just finished doing my 100k service and it was a challenging task, I put everything back together and turn it on and its making a funny noise like a belt is loose, so checked all tension in the drive belts all seem fine not slipping, ended up taking the front cover off and seems that the noise is coming from the new timing belt. Its very annoying, anyone have any suggestions in what to do, the belt is not loose, but i dont think its over tight either, I also upgraded my cam gears to adj type???? Cheers

cefiro replied to cefiro's topic in Engines & Forced Induction

Hey guys I am doing my 100k service and i cant get the car into TDC. I have taken off all the drive belts radiator out and taken the front engine cover and CAS. Now reading through SK write up he said the bolt was 27mm but my socket is not going on??? why???? I havent removed the harmonic balancer yet or the timing belt but I need to get the car into tdc. Anyone know what size the bolt is???? Do I remove the balancer first then remove the bolt or do I put car into TDC then remove bolt then balancer??? Cheers

Mate I recon you should contact the venue where the people were drinking, they must have a duty of care not only for patrons but also people who pass the venue????? video footage, I would get the footage if they had any and pass it onto your insurance company???? -

Hey guys I am going to be changing my turbos over in the holidays and having never done the job I wanna know to get the oil and water lines off. I believe is straight forward but thats the one thing thats worrying me. Now Do I need to remove them all from the block or can they be bent away once I have undone them???? Any tips I know I have to be careful not to cross thread them. Also will I lose much coolant as I am doing 100k service as well and may just not fill the coolant till after turbos are in. Cheers

where did you get the os giken for $240??????
-
Hey mate i did some research into this a little while ago and from what I gathered some of the cheap ones are not so good (ebay) but in saying that what someones conclusion was the bolts are cheap and freeze and if you change them over to some high tensile one they should be fine. Also stated that some of the timiming marks were out??? Anyway I have come to the conclusion that I will just get some JJR ones as they are 250 for the pair and have had heard no bad comments about them. If anyone has anything to say please put it out there, would be interested as I am doing min in teh next couple of weeks. Cheers

cam gears can be set up to increase your mid range depending on how they have been dialed in. So if you ever do 100k service then great to do.
-
Nice one, getting some turbos soon and will hopefully get close to the 300rwkw mark. Have you thought about getting some cam gears

Mysterious Pfc Missfire In An R32 Gtr
cefiro replied to itbmils's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Tried regrounding the ignitor pack and no sucess, has anyone tried to contact apexi in japan and ask for a fix. Maybe it maybe a companent in the ecu which is not soldered in, software????? This is very annoying Anyone tried running datalogit with sucess maybe a solution if someone does. -
Those actually look quite good, if you get some then let me know, cheap as well, but are they any better than others??? Ive got to make the decision soon as I am doing the 100k service and these at the same time. Big jimmystyle, if you are installing these then you have to remove the cam gear cover, the timimg belt, cam gears which is not an easy feat as there are a few steps to get everything off, I dont know what the bill will be but it wont be cheap.
-
I can understand both arguments, the "cheaper" ones should do the ob just as well in theory, but I think in the end you get what you pay for, I think I will settle for the JJR ones as its an important piece of hard wear and $100 - $150 is not much in the scheme of things and will have piece of mind they will not jam and the timing is on.

For that type of km I think that the owner would be selling it for a non profit. Its really hard to say, price in japan for that car would see it on road for that sort of money. If the turbos have not been changed then they will need to be soon. in saying that a low modified RB26 should last longer than 144k km, there is nothing like a test drive. i looked for a long time to find mine and import it. Its hard to find one that has the right km on it and sells for a price you can afford. If you do go ahead then get the auction report from the owner and have a good hard look over it to see what condition its in.

thanks Paul, I didnt read GTR1993 till after my post will be interesting to see if it fixes it.
