  1. OK I give up! I've been trying to get email responses back from parts suppliers in the U.S. but with no luck. I'm principally after a Stillen air intake kit (including a matching Z tube) for my 2005 V35 coupe. Does anyone know who would provide this in Australia? I'm also after a front strut brace which ideally doesn't require removal of the engine cover, but this is secondary to above. Thanks.
  2. According to the post above - June 2005. I checked the same link out with mine, and it appears accurate.
  3. Well, for what it's worth, the problem has resolved itself. Just returned from my second round-trip from Canberra to the Gold Coast, and the Nav Screen was working fine all the way. I'm thinking the original problem was caused by interior heat which played havoc with the switch (contacts sticking perhaps?) - I tilted the screen forwards and backwards and tapped the switch, and eventually it started to work properly again. This time... BTW, off topic, but this car was built for the highway. The coupe body, auto gear ratios, torquey engine and comfortable seats make the car the perfect sports tourer. Family flew up to the Gold Coast and I took a couple of days to drive up (and back) taking little side-detours onto the original Pacific Highway. Played hop-scotch with a HR33 GTR between Coffs Harbour and Taree (heh heh). As I explained to my wife - that's *my* holiday...
  4. Normally the screen comes up, thinks for a bit (I assume it's waiting for the Nav DVD to boot - but it isn't loaded), then gives me a menu option in Japanese. If I push the middle, top line button I get the wider menu which I can select items like 'fuel economy'. If I push the screen button again, it retracts. Now, today, if I push the screen button, the screen comes up, sits there for a second, and then retracts - nothing has a chance to appear on the screen. The switch appears to work fine, it's just the screen seems to decide 'bugger this - I'm outta here'...
  5. Team, I have a problem with the nav sat screen which pops up from the central console in my Series II. It comes up but goes straight back down i.e. won't stay up. Is this a known problem? Any ideas on what i can do to resolve this? Something I can press or reset perhaps?
  6. I'm always fascinated by this topic. I've owned 3 generations of Skyline, so I'd always personally go for that branding. However, the practical business side of me has always know that imports were a bad investment. Now, should Nissan ever bring the Infinity brand into Australia to compete with the likes on the BMW M-series and Lexus, then this would be a branding which strikes me as being smart to have on the car. Nissan have hinted at this for the last few years although admittedly it's yet to happen. So, not wanting to start a Jihad or a flame war, if you have the Infinity branding - keep it for now if you're concerned about maintaining the value of your car. The people who know what the Skyline is, will know what the Infinity is. The people who know neither, may eventually if Nissan makes Infinity their flagship brand in Australia (maybe, possibly, eventually...)
  7. Not my first Skyline. Have owned a HR32 and HR33. Skipped the HR34 and bought a Magna instead (huh?).

  8. Ah bugger! I kept pushing it hoping for a White Christmas...
  9. Hang on - that's my wife! Both of them! Now, to get my order placed with Amazon... But now, we're *way* off thread...
  10. Good thread - didn't know the V35 had such a filter. Anyway, I had a look at the Amazon link to see what it looked like and clicked "what people buying this also bought". Interesting to note that a 60 pack of Durex condoms was listed. Have to assume that most guys with a V35 are chick-magnets...
  11. Well, I actually don't need anything but at least I now know what it looks like behind the console... Thanks.
  12. Now, THAT doesn't happen much any more these days. Good on those guys for being innovative and looking after you. They deserve a mention here - on the assumption you're happy otherwise with the services, that is. And they're Adelaide? Long way for me to drive for a service unfortunately...
  13. Another option for you is to use an FM Transmitter with the iPhone and listen to your music through the radio. You'll no doubt want to fit an FM Extender anyway ($25 + fitting) to get the Aus radio stations at the high end. This is what I'm talking about: http://www.belkin.com/au/IWCatProductPage....oduct_Id=496747 . You can pick then up from JB HiFi for ~$140. Of course, to integrate your iPhone would be much nicer though...
  14. Or hope that Nissan makes the decision to bring the Infinity into Australia. Then just replace the Skyline insignia with Infinity, and watch the value climb as the label competes with BMW... Oh wait - is this not a dream? Oh Bugger...
  15. Worked it out - thanks for your help Red7 Racing. It was an option set within the screen which appears when you push the button you specified (3rd one down). Back to normal - everything stays on the screen until I turn it off.
  16. Thanks. However, as this hasn't been an issue previously, does that imply that I've set an option on/off somewhere by accident? I appreciate that you may have just transcribed the language though...
  17. Team, I need help in finding out what this message says on the LCD Nav Sat screen on my Series II. Normally I can check out the fuel economy, trip stats, etc on the nav sat screen. However, just recently this message has started to appear within a few seconds of *anything* being left on the screen, and then the screen goes blank - until I press a Menu key. Not sure if I've set something wrong, or if it's trying to tell me the engine is about to explode! Anyone? Thanks in anticipation. And I'm reeeaaally looking forward to when the menu conversion is available for the Series II.
  18. Can't comment from knowledge. However, common-sense says that what the US got as the package for the Infinity for any year was the same as the japanese gave themselves - except that the steering wheel on the original (Japanese) was on the right side... This may also help (with a bit of additional reading and research): http://psedog.com/cars/fsm/g35/coupe/ Cheers
  19. This is probably the nicest roll-up I've run across - FYI. Note that the Series 2 was released from Nov 2004 - so the 2005 coupe it references is the Series 2. So, while my V35 was manufactured on 23 Dec 2004, it's a Series 2. http://www.jlimports.com.au/nissan-skyline-350gt-v35-coupe
  20. Andy65b is correct. Actually, the best thing you could have done next is to get the details of the next driver to act as a corroborative witness. Otherwise it's your word against the taxi driver's. Generally the law errs in favour of the car in front, however. Generally, all the insurance company does in cases where the other party is at fault (demonstrable, hence witness is good) is act on your behalf in dealing with the other party or their insurance company. If there's no insurance company working on your behalf, the onus falls to you to do the footwork. Suggest you put the fear of God into the taxi driver by suggesting that if he doesn't cough up you'll make it formal through your insurance company (he doesn't have to know) and he may lose his licence as a result.
  21. That's a relief! I don't hear any messages, but I know she's there (I push the "voice" button and she speaks). So, I think that's a good thing
  22. Loh, there must be a Nav DVD in the drive otherwise you wouldn't hear the japanese voice. The unit under your dash looks like an ETC reader (Electronic Toll Card?) and if so is useless outside of Japan and you can ignore (or remove) it. Interestingly, mine is next to the DVD Nav drive - what is the build date of your car? The message I believe is simply a copywrite message which you accept and it continues to load. Then again, I don't speak or read Japanese so it may just be telling you that the engine is about to seize. I do know that the car can be very insistent with warning messages if the fuel level runs very low in the car. Otherwise, I'm a bit confused with your words regarding the DVD loading but not coming out. Do you mean you push the button and nothing comes out? If so, which button are you pushing? The Nav DVD loads in a hidden compartment just above the glove box, not in the console - at least, it does in mine. Hope this is some help. Edit - Ducati02 beat me to it. The japanese lady only speaks to me when I press the "Voice" button (top left). I'm thinking I may have inadvertently disabled warnings somewhere in my fiddling. Looking forward to the Series II English conversion guys!
  23. My new Series II 350GT gets a view of the ocean (yes - that over-exposed bit. Hey, it's with an iPhone!) near the QLD/NSW border. Picked up the car from Nagoya Motors in Sydney and took it for a return drive to the Gold Coast. Figured it was the best way to clear the cob-webs...
  24. My import arrived with Yoko Decibels. Tread was down and I wanted top replace them, but with what? Did some research and spoke to some tyre places. The Yoko was quiet (hence the name) but Expensive! Ended up running with the Toyo T1R. Not quite as expensive, quiet and holds to the road well. Done 2,000Klm on them now and very happy. For what it's worth at this late point in the thread.
  25. No - I have the 2004/05 birds eye view DVD. Personally I don't understand what all the interest is. The unit is useless - regardless of DVD version - outside of Japan. I *must* be missing something...
