  1. True there Grant. I drove an ex cop car from Bendigo to Sydney on my L's, when I was bout 6 months pregnant (Before I got to 'fat' to drive) I was very inexperienced and it would have been way to difficult for my supervisor to control that car. As Birds said it's probably that attitude and being watched that stops them from doing stupid shit. That I'd believe Birds. Once you get your license you start creating bad habits for yourself which no one is likely to pick you up on, you get complacent in traffic, and you don't always have that second opinion there when you're second guessing something, plus there is that 'well it's only me that'll get hurt' mentality that some people have. It's not difficult to kick it out. I saw an accident recently (few months back) on the Calder, was pissing down raining at the time. Guy in a Suburu WRX, turbo, boost controller, roof had been reinforced a little cos it was a competition car. We dunno what happened but I heard the turbo kick in around the same time he hit a build up of water, aqua plained for a bit, he was fighting the car, couldn't correct it, rolled it. He was lucky only ended up with a damaged pelvis. There was probably dew on the road, or a bit damp cos it's been raining a lot lately coupled with inexperience
  2. Did u have a maroon Mitsubishi FTO over take you on Sunday?? We went around a Silver 33 on the way down to Geelong, we were on the Bacchus Marsh-Geelong road
  3. Hi Kev I'm not sure about the Skyline scene in Geelong but if it's anything like Bendigo there is just falcodores everywhere. I get excited when I see anything that looks like an import. U missed out yesterday Kev, there was 15 odd Skylines parked in a park in Geelong (Charity cruise for a cancer patient) looked like there was a couple of Supra's as well. Perhaps try your local undercover car park on a Saturday night. Falcodore drivers in Bendigo prefer Coles.
  4. aww he sounds like he had a wonderful time, and that's what it was all about. We came down but got a blow out about 10 minutes away from the park. Lol a 33 over a 35GTR, I wanna ride in a 35GTR and I'm an adult. The pics in the other thread are great. Sounds like it was a great day. Should have taken some sausages and had a BBQ. Cheers Chanz
  5. Think I may have seen the silver 34 with red P's heading towards Bacchus Marsh about 7.30ish
  6. Glad the cruise went so well and Seth had such a wonderful time. We came down in the FTO but we got all the way to Norlane (about 10-15 minutes away) and got a blow out on a 6 lane freeway. Tyre pressure was perfect when we left, then when we got to a set of traffic lights a guy told us our rear looked down, went and pumped it up, pulled out of the servo got about 150 metres up the road and it blew. We didn't have the key for the mags (17" Enkei Klamp's) so we had to train it to Weribee where my mum picked us up, drove us back to Bendigo, then we had to drive back down to get the FTO, then back home. We only got home about an hour ago.
  7. u didn't happen to have any of it engraved with ur DL number???
  8. yeah those Peugeots aren't to bad.
  9. I did about 6 months driving in a manual Lancer & a '89 Magna, then I got to pregnant to drive. Did most of my learning in the BMW 318I.
  10. OP isn't about what my son will be cruising around in, I think perhaps I wasn't to direct in my post. (reading back over it, over half was rambling, that I'm going to take out cos I can see how it'd be confusing) OP is about where all the nice cars are disappearing to??? It's just my son that got me thinking about it. Why are they getting rid of decent cars and replacing them with hybrid cars that have no power or cars that are just totally ugly...what ever happened to the days of classy cars with sexy curves, and decent amounts of power, cars that had engineering genius....why the limited choices? I know that manufacturing companies only go with what the consumer say they want but I am so sick of seeing good cars being turned into SUV's or Hybrids, of worse still...BOTH! How can they call this a Skyline of any type??? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...ossover_001.JPG And yes I am aware they call it a Skyline/Infinity crossover
  11. Wouldn't those parts be harder to dispose of being that they are BRIGHT orange?? and why steal a 32??
  12. I might come down from Bendigo. Geelong isn't to far from Bendigo. I'd really encourage others to go along, I know fuel isn't overly cheap at the moment, and it's extra km's on your cars but it's a little kid who thinks so much of these cars that we all love.
  13. Early today my 18 month old son tried taking my Skyline for a drive...he had a couple of problems, such as being too short to reach the peddles, can't see over the dash and he didn't have the keys, although very funny to watch and it got me thinking "what will he be left with as a learners car?" I can't have my son cruising around in some unsafe car that looks like the manufacturers puked it up after a night on the drink, and I started running through possible options in my mind Skylines- R34's ceased production in '02. According to Wiki (Because I didn't know) R35 GT-R's are still in production however the R34 was considered the last of the 'real' Skylines. Now I have no intentions of opening up a can of worms, that's just what Wiki said. Mitsubishi FTO's- Ceased production in 1999, last sale date of early 2000. Supra- Ceased production in 2002. Evo- Although Evo X's are still in production, and have been since 2007, I have seen 2 different stories so far about the EVO XI's. One magazine I read recently said they would be ceasing production of street legal Evo's after the X and they would return to rally only, another website said they're turning it into a Hybrid SUV. After looking at the prototype pictures, I pretty much spewed in my mouth < http://www.zercustoms.com/news/2013-Mitsubishi-Evo-XI.html > So what's left? Where did all these awesome cars go that I used to dream about driving when I was a kid? The only one I can think of that's still cool is the WRX, even some of the more uncool options like the Integra type R & Toyota Celica ceased production in 2006,
  14. Anyone got any idea if it's coming out on Xbox 360?? I had a look online but it seemed to indicate a big fat NO! We've been to stingy to get the PS3, there still well over $500 everywhere I've been. I was looking at getting it when it first came out but thought better of paying over $1000 for a console, with the idea that it'd come down in price reasonably fast
  15. Glad you had an awesome trip. I was wondering where you'd got to, you just seemed to disappear one day. Alvin- I've always wanted to travel Europe. I speak German, and my family is from London...we are of the convict type. Going to France would be great, I love hearing my name pronounced properly without the husky Aussie slant to it. LOL....conceived in France; what a transcontinental baby.
  16. Glad to hear your okay, and sorry to hear about the GTR. In the end though a car is replaceable, life and quality of life isn't; however I'm sure that doesn't make you feel any better. Hope things pick up soon. Chantalle
  17. Hamish & Ali- I'm not comparing them, I am just simply saying if a clutch less auto is good enough for them then I am happy with a watered down tip in my daily however is there is 1 thing I dislike is that it's only a 4 speed for a 1999 car I would expect a 5 speed, after all a new Holden Cruze is a 6 speed tip
  18. i beg to differ about the part about not needing to override factory auto setting. downshifting, twisties and if ur already in the right gear u dont have to wait for gearbox to change; the gearbox will shift up when the revs drop but u might be approaching a roundabout etc
  19. Good point Juliette. It already rides rough. I go over a speed hump and sounds like something is about to fall off. Get that almighty thud (or that could be my sons stroller and my sub) and the car seems to sway/rock a little. I actually that that sway/rock was cos it's so high
  20. Hamish- it sure does I sleep very well knowing I can drive manual, but I choose not to because tip is much better (see my previous mini rant)
  21. semi auto's are the only transmission id use now its got the best of both worlds; even if it was was about power automatics actually can have better take off(fastest drag cars use automatics and i think their sequential) with an automatic u can preload the transmission instead of with a manual jerking the gears into place and getting wheelspin unless you drop the clutch at a lower rpm then you could in the auto. Just about all the supercars have them now and theres a reason. its good to be able to eat, drink, do other stuff and not have to worry about changing gears sometimes. obviously i know u will lose about 5% power over all and add 10kgs+ to the car weight but if it came to it id rather the auto instead of the climate control
  22. ohhh...I didn't know that, I figured there was a chance cos a lot of other Jap cars were just starting to go tip in '95 then in that case I would looking for an R34 if I was him
  23. I dunno about the R33 but the R34's are tip...so they're not really an auto. If the R33's are tip as well I couldn't see how the resale would be effected much because it can be driven as a manual...it's just not a manual in the true sense...
  24. Sadly this is what it sits at now. I had the suspension looked over by a mechanics in St Albans/Sunshine area when I first got the car and his jaw almost hit the ground...he was disgusted by how high it was....and I'm stick of it being called a silver commodore Below are pics of the current ride height. To the bottom of the stock skirt is 24cm and to bottom of door sill is 28. something. All unladen.
  25. Hamish- how much lower than stock do they sit?
