  1. yeah agreed no leg to stand on when rear ending someone. so its probably not going to make a difference. she made an interesting comment though she goes "- when i was looking in my mirror i saw you were too close" almost an admission of guilt that she was watching me and slammed the brakes on purpose .. but who knows. bc coil overs ? i wish! .. rsr springs and kyb adjustable dampers ..just got some new ones on the rear.. (and personally i shouldve gotten the coil overs but i had to rego it first ) the shocks are adjustable but they must be on full damper cause its soft as shit rides bumps on the freeway like a boat riding a wave - crazy rebound - heh dale - they must all have those awesome melbourne /sydney streets.. try qld supposedly the fuel is discounted 10cents a litre for the thousands of dollars extra one has to pay in brakes , suspension and tyres on qld roads which in all honesty are probably one of the worst in the world. Western australia by far has the best roads in this country.. anyone from w.a whos driven on the east coast will agree.
  2. thanks mate .. i agree couldve been much much worse. apart from that incident the old girl is running really well. got 550kms out of her for the first time ever today . and more left over and i wasnt being shy on the pedal. after recent alignment and suspension change over. - got a little bit too much damper atm though.. its like damper over kill. but my business is booming again .. so no big loss. just a bit pissed off at myself after the acco. awell teach me to be more carefull.
  3. thats what im annoyed about.. i didnt check and only thought of it after the fact - remembering that i didnt see any.. i spoke to her on the phone and she is going to get the repairer to call me next week when they do the quote.. i might ring them first and ask them to double check the brake lights work. i dont want to risk asking her in case they are broken and she realises and gets them fixed prior.
  4. a 10 cm puncture thats like a little rectangle on my front bumper to the left of the grill (its cut only on 3 sides so its sitting flat still and not that noticeable) ..apart from that nothing at all..didnt even break the bumper pins. so yeah definately paying this out with cash.. just annoyed under the circumstance!
  5. just crashed mine this morning after having such a good day. was at a dead stop at a corner.. old woman in a mirage did the old stop and go 3 times in a row turning left .. i was checking traffic and gave her a love tap at about 5km / hr. 10 cm crack in both bumpers.. her insurance is claiming its a 800$ fix.. bs im concerned though that even using my insurance will screw my rating 1 and push up my m35 premium and no doubt everyone elses.. so im thinking of just paying cash to her insurance when it comes down to it. damn it! and im not positive after the fact that she even had working brake lights.. i dont remember seeing them at any point. then my house almost flooded when i got home in this storm.. weee!
  6. my $139 importmonster starter motor went on today in about 30 minutes flat. was stoked how easy it was. trolley jack - two car stands on left hand chassis rail .. front left wheel off and it was two bolts and took off the positive terminal on the battery, and it was off. import monster one straight on.. two bolts back on.. wheel back on terminal reconnected fired first pop.. was stoked .. hasnt been started in over 3 weeks not stagea related - but the skyline is almost ready for rego again. new radiator , new tyres , new king springs , new kyb dampers, new bushers. wheel alignment , now just gotta put the engine back together lol. stoked to have my m35 back tho how about you jetwreck ? any results...i hope it hasnt gone down hill!
  7. looks like you went a bit hard on one side and not the other ? unless its the reflection of the shot but it looks like one reverse light is really bright and the other you can barely see? thats so illegal here looks good though!
  8. my spare starter motor showed up today! it looks quite good nick although im sure its not hard to clean grease off an old starter motor. hopefully have the old girl back on the road tomorrow evening ! suprisingly business has done a complete reversal and now im snowed under with christmas work which im very happy about.. when it rains its snows i guess.
  9. haha doesnt craig still have that 40,000km turbo or did he sell it on ebay ? glad i got mine when i did
  10. when you bleed it .. are you also letting off the radiator cap and the bleed valve in that order? bearing in mind they both hold air! otherwise the trapped air in the top tank.. just feeds back into the block creating another air trap and around in circles you go. hehe. until the 10th time the air is finally gone. best to run it with the rad cap off until it hits thermostat temp youll notice from the water starting to rush in the top tank also..another trick i learnt from working at a radiator shop..is youve got another radiator core most people forget about.. the heater.. so turn the heater on whilst running it with the rad cap off to refill that heater core and the water level will drop again fill it to the top.. recap it... then do the bleed valve for any excessive air. you can as i did let it run for a good 45 minutes just idling with no radiator cap on. refill at the end..then bleed valve until you see no spurts of air just water. then reseal with the heater on of course.. and youll find theres no more air and a filled tank that shouldnt drop ever unless its leaking or natural evap that draws from the overflow.
  11. Chris - my car is looking to be a brick until after christmas.. can i bring my starter and then my car down soon.. or can you give us a buzz. cheers Keir 0466500130
  12. good to know! so you actually got one in the end ?
  13. in regards to rebuild was advised by others they are non rebuildable if the copper coil inside them goes. - and had heard on the grape vine people had spent money to get them assessed to find it a dead end. sorry only just saw this Kiwi! - thats a reasonable price because im paying about the same from import monster including shipping but yours would evidently get here alot faster. owell! thanks for the reply though.. but good to know..thinking someone should just buy it anyway as theyre rare as hens teeth it seems. thanks for the leg work and offer also.. appreciate it
  14. awesome stuff Craig - glad to hear the black beast is back on the road mad job in getting it there also. yeah 540kms wtf --- im lucky to get 450 off boost :S heh ive given up on mine in the sense of mods for the time being you guys are light years ahead even you Zei20l. ill be a year away from getting a tune and an ecu at this rate - its only destined to get a highflowed turbo for the time being and a new starter ill do the runner spacer and new plugs and rocker gaskets when the turbo gets done. as i cant see myself in the limited space ive got doing engine outs often - until i get a bigger garage.
  15. how much were the nismo thermostats and were they easy to source ? i got a chinese knock off that was complete alloy very thick core from ebay for $212 delivered for the r33 (which worked awesome btw and looked great) - sure ok the r33 is as common as dogs balls but - surely someone out there does a g35/v35 similar radiator? ebay is your friend for this stuff :-check it http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=Infiniti+...ator&_rdc=1 aaron - IMO - in my opinion.
  16. i was actually going to call you about that Chris because i had a feeling you might! btw our date for a new stereo is not forgotten, just thought this other car would be sold by now! - you will howver be getting a random call from me when it is. Just bid on one for $129 on import monster - hope it works ok - thanks for the link craig - conclusive photo with part number! (hopes to get this 80k contract next week!)
  17. good point! im too used to working on older v8's daleo that dont have computers and run hot normally. so different principle i guess. well then a lower temped thermostat should be sufficent then ?
  18. looks too cheap personally! ityll sell easily for that price.. good luck with the sale.
  19. what does the nismo thermostat open at ? i know the r33's doesnt even think of opening until circa 79C anyway. more than likely the same principle applies.. meaning theres no flow around the engine until your hitting that temp anyway. sometimes no thermostat is better. im thinking 90C even though its not far off boiling temp.. isnt that far fetched for the running temp of this engine.
  20. All good mate. looking but doubtfull.. the yahoo search isnt hugely functional.. from import monsters page. might check ebay also
  21. well i just got off the phone to nissan parts.. sobering very sobering. apparently the 2002 nm35 stagea vq25det part number for a starter motor is this :- 23300-AL600 -$1400 3 weeks to order none in country the j32 maxima does not suit.. the guy was looking at the bolt pattern its different again. there was also a 2002 350z one with the part number 23300-AL900 that was $1495 - none in country and also 3 weeks to get in. (the 02-07 350z have 4 different part numbers and he wasnt sure) i did mention the vq25dd and he said it was the same part number. so that blows that out of the water. hmm.. looks like starter motors are more of a bitch than once thought. also that part that you quoted me iamhe77 the nissan parts guy said it was a bolt - unless he was clueless - or didnt take the part number correctly. looks like second hand or import monster as a backup option for now..if i can find one. Jetwreck - wanna make some money on your old motor ?
