  1. there definatly is a wank factor with most people deciding to buy skylines, but for some it purely is performance. for some its a bit of both. it's the majority spoiling it for the minority. people just wanna look cool driving about, its nothing new the yanks were doing it since the fifties. still, that dosent just apply to skylines, s13's, 300zx's, supra's, even commodores suffer the posing factor. posing wouldnt be such a bad thing if it didnt involve the usual challanges, slagging of other peoples cars and the general 'act like a tool' culture that goes with it.
  2. it's hard to sell a skyline because most people overprice them (specially the dealers) and most are just 10-17yo cars that have had the crap flogged out of them their whole lives 90% are just not worth the money. a lot of private sellers are dreaming with their prices.
  3. has anyone ever been or is anyone a car sales man? new or used if so, what's their experience been of working in the industry?? cheers guys
  4. timezone funtasia. $15 gets you a game of mini-golf, lazer quest, bumper cars and 12 prize game credits. one of the tourist books has a buy one get one free voucher at cold rock ice-cream too. for that i would recomend the chocolate with violet crumble mixed in.
  5. a v8 AWD would be an interesting thing from japan. yes it sucks up to the yanks but australia is the place with crap taste in cars, not America (big soccer mum SUV's excluded.) so sucking up to their tastes isnt that bad a thing. I would think it's a BS rumor to sell mags 1st or it will be so limited that none of us will see it in a hurry. if they do make it, i'd like to see it in a rally.
  6. yeah that's a bit off taking it to a public road.......i hope you'se at least blocked it off or something. should have taken it to the track anyway, congrads for winning! legal or not
  7. they'd stop energy trading with us and we'd be farked as nearly all of our industry relies on transport logistics.................................
  8. i dont think it would be as major as sydney...........people just arnt into that as much here. there's very strong rasist undertones in some parts of queensland (One Nations biggest base of support was Qld) but it seemes more aimed at asians..........and mainly north of brisbane.
  9. i'd go plan one........... great thread this. i'm going to be in the same position soon. i've got an auto licence but i'd like a manual one day. just gives ya more freedom. Auto's are good though
  10. if he was speeding then he was at fault. you should be able to stop if you see a guy doing a 3 point turn in a 50 zone............even though you shouldnt really have to stop because of right of way. i wouldnt be surprised if he was speeding, i see skylines speed in 50 zones all the time
  11. 4x4's and common sense are in opposite corners of the ring......... you've got to be missing brain cells to be cruising round in one of them (rural living excluded of course)
  12. something needs to be done. SAU is starting to resemble lesser auto forum sites (no names needed)..........the wasteland is for off car topics, that's not a licence to automatically whore everything in there. The name postwhore should be synonomus with "dickhead" and shouldnt been seen as something cool. it is a select few, unfortuanatly (as doridori has shown) people come back under different names.......... creative solutions are needed
  13. Queenslanders are pretty shocking drivers........good post the only thing not mentioned is cutting corners (lazy driving) and speeding. there's a stupid amount of it happening all thanks to the 'speed dosent kill' argument. driving in europe is nuts..............in italy cars dont stop for pedestrian green lights.....they only stop if you walk out in front of them
  14. there's some great point being raised here from a lot of people. So what would happen if it worked both ways. how would you react if you went to get your car worked on at YY and the workshop said "sorry, we're not going to deal with you because ZZ workshop said on the net that you were a bad customer" I wouldnt put up with that.........
  15. it allways cracks me up hearing manual licence drivers talk about how hard it is to get a licence on manuals and how auto is crap. i got my auto p's first go after learning to drive for 3 weeks. no non critical errors were made at all. a lot of people have said that getting an auto licence is easy and that's no feat, but i havent met someone who's failed because they cant change gears. most of my mates who have failed driving tests did it because of things like failing to stop at signs, speeding etc. which has fark all to do with gears good point made about driving instructors only teaching you how to pass a test. i spose it's ironic that if they're good at their job they put themselves out of their regular customers!
  16. the problem with some of these cars like the S13 is that most of the ones that get to an age have been flogged by p platers for years and the repair bills will cancel out the benifits. good if you can get one if good condition though....... volvo 240. cheap, old people dont flog them and a good chance of survival in a crash.
  17. you need a gun licence to get a good paintball gun. you'd be in deep shite if they caught you doing that. just use a metal bar like they did in the good old days
  18. far out, there's a mines_datsun in the making who do you think buys these cars new??? under 25's?? they dont have the money. jet's on wheels dont belong to the immature. they've stopped making R32's/33's/34's having them written off by teenagers isnt going to be good for the car enthusast community of australia.
  19. you'll prang your first car. not all people do, but many do. it might not be the best thing to take on the stress of owning a 15k car at a young age. the stress might outdoo the enjoyment. i'd get a R31, save the money and get a GT-T when they come down in a few years. Driving a performance car requires humility, that comes with age and road experience. otherwise you'll end up knee deep in fines or in a smash from road racing, cause young people in skylines at lights = bogans in VL's. good luck either way.
  20. amoung other things....................i think if you loose your licence, you should actually loose it. not be suspended. if you loose your licence you should go back to stage one. L's. and go again from there. bigger insurance breaks for good drivers are in order too.
  21. comercial radio is crap. they'll play one CD to death then change it to another. it's how the CD publishers want it. the whole of comercial radio is ad's. not just the breaks.
  22. hang on............so you cant sell personal imports?
  23. hi guys i've been thinking bout my life plan and how i can get a half decent car for when i'm a bit older. i reckon 2nd hand cars in Australia are a rip off thanks to the 'drive till they die' culture and and if the SEVS import laws dont change i wouldnt want to import one because it's quite clear that the government discourages that by making it a minefield of risk (accident damage etc). so i've been thinkin about going back to the UK to live again for a few years in a few years time..............i could buy a car here (cheap european stuff) and take it back on a personal import........ has anyone here had experience with personal imports?? and does anyone reckon the government is going to crack down on those laws like they did to the 15 year rule etc? cheers
  24. the problem with the majority of ricers (about 99.99% of them) is that they actually belive the changing the paint and slaping on a loud exuast will make their car go faster. as long as you know that slapping on a bodykit will slow your car down etc you'll be fine. i think asking if you should rice up your car is like asking if you should get your nose/boobs done. keep it natural.
