  1. Well I checked with the consult cable and there were no errors! Strange. I'll have a look at the plugs on the weekend. If I get up early enough I will do a compression test but I don't know how to do a leak down so I'll have to get someone else to do that. Car seems to still have full normal power atm. I would have thought the track would clean the plugs up too. Maybe they are cracked or something else. The car runs pretty rich normally. About 10-10.5:1
  2. Good idea Ed. I will do that tonight.
  3. On the freeway sunday morning I noticed on the AVC-R that I wasn't reaching full boost so I stupidly started upping the boost duty cycle to try and get the right boost. What happened was that it all of a sudden pinged like a bastard and the engine light came on. The engine light went straight back off and the car continued to drive fine. Then I drove it around Wakefield park a few laps but the boost was really erratic. Parked and popped the hood to discover the hose going to the AVC-R was split at the T piece and hissing away. Obviously that was easy to fix and the rest of the day at the track went off without hitch. Then monday evening when I started the car I noticed it was idling a little rougher. It's not an uneven idle, just a bleh bleh bleh rather than the smoothness I'm used to. It still drives fine with full power. Have I broken something?
  4. I went looking for it yesterday. Did you see it at a newsagent today? Or do you subscribe?
  5. I'm just trying to figure it out.
  6. http://www.cams.com.au/downloads/competitors/2005/Level2.PDF Here is the form to fill out.
  7. Jago - hold off until I let you know that a spot is available. You might like to pm me your mobile number just in case.
  8. The caps lock key is on the left of your keyboard. You might also like to state what you want in the heading instead of writing Wanted to buy, WANTED TO BUY in the wanted to buy section of the forum.
  9. Mintie stole my car keys. (I can't find them anywhere.) And he also broke my favourite beer glass.
  10. I think a larger intercooler decreases response rather than increases the lag.
  11. Which 485 rwkw minus 15% is 422 AUrwkw very impressive if it's real. BMan had 330rwkw... Is that with nitrous? Race fuel? What car is it in? Surely you can't blame us for being a little sceptical when you come along claiming power figures way in excess of anything we've ever heard of. If you've got an RB25 with 650rwhp then ask the owner about his pistons because there's no way he's using the stockies with that power. What about the owner of the one with 436rwkw? Can you ask him to see his old pistons? How come you not feel like addressing the questions we asked you in the above posts?
  12. Jago - you are on the list now. Brad - all good. Fatz - the rule with passengers is a little strange. They wont let you have one passenger but you can have six. Something to do with insurance. Dunno. Also, you are allowed to take your boot off it's hinges to fit people in there.

  14. Everyone has a story about at least one workshop. I know of a certain R34 GTR with a blown engine which was tuned the day before by C&V. The fact is that we are pushing these vehicles to their limits. The reason why they have x amount of power out of the factory is because at that level the factory feels that the rate of breakage will be low enough to keep their reputation and bank balance in good shape. If they pushed them as hard as we do then sure they would have 50-100% more power but imagine how many blown engines there would be.
  15. Well I did what I said. It has been reduced to a light sqeak now. Interestingly, for the first 2/3 of the track day they made no noise but it came back later on. I have ordered some shims now. Cost me $60 for proper non generic ones. I think I used 800 grit wet and dry cc. Sydneykid. What do you clean the calipers with? Some sort of spray on brake cleaner? Is it corrosive? Anything to watch out for?
  16. That's Neil. He has a Skyline too. Rebuilt motor hasn't been properly tuned yet. Running slicks so he was taking it easy when the track was wet. You're the guy with the black GTR I met aren't you?
  17. Probably in for the 14th. Just need to sort something out and I will confirm. Thanks oz.
  18. speed = defunct
  19. And yet a large number of people with R34's have had misfiring issues after they up the boost which have been fixed by replacing the coilpacks. It doesn't sound like R&R to me. From what I've found and heard the R34 R&R threshold is a little higher than the R33 one. If you gap the plugs down from 1.1 to 0.8 then you are reducing the workload of the coils hence the improvement from doing this. Then you up the boost and the problem returns. It seems pretty obvious to me but I've only got one car and the rest of my knowledge comes from the internet so may not be entirely reliable. I don't think anyone should be running 0.5 or 0.6 mm gaps in a Skyline. There is something else wrong if that helps - or you have eleventy million kw. Standard intercooler is fine - Sydneykid has one in his Stagea.
  20. And look what I got....
  21. Yep. Oz did. L2S
  22. Oh well it needed new head lights anyway.
  23. Some more pics.
  24. Yes it is always exhausting and you do learn a lot about your car. It's great fun too . Hopefully I didn't scare you too much out there.
