Not a bad way to do it Richard. I still have my stock hook under the car, it's just that I know the front bar will get torn off if they actually have to use it!
It's just the same material as a ratchet strap right?
Thanks mate, but I'm after a strap for the front of the car, this one to be precise: http://www.racerindustries.com/store/index...products_id=347
Just don't want to pay their asking price considering it's so much cheaper here: http://www.gprdirect.com/OnlineShop/Produc...c=250&g=822
I don't like being screwed on price
Yeah, a lot of people charge stupid money for it...craziness. That's what prompted me to buy one of these.
A mate of mine had a full custom loom made for his 180sx from a hot rod workshop. Cost him under 1k. This tells you that people are not really charging you an hourly rate when they quote 2-3k. Unfortunately they didn't have time to make me one up as they'd just lost an employee.
After knowing this I'd refuse to pay someone that sort of money, even if I could afford it. I know it can be done for under 1k if you find someone who knows what they're doing.
I love it, think they've done a great job with 'dinosaur' technology. Competition moves the game forwards
Video of the ZR1 in the link (not on burgerring though... ): http://www.caradvice.com.au/13737/chevrole...formance-specs/
Pity we won't get this instead of the W427. We really could have it for the same price except for the red tape. It's a real shame.
You may be better using one of these painless looms man, I think it'll work out cheaper than making it entirely from scratch. Andrew can take a look at this one when it arrives and see if it's suitable. I spoke with Sam on it, and he said it was exactly what I'd be after
Thought I'd just ask in here instead of making a thread: does anyone know where to get tow straps from? Revolution don't sell them, and Racer industries charge like a wounded bull.
This is the kit I got: http://www.painlessperformance.com/webcata...archField=50003
and this is the page you'd want, it's under drag racing: http://www.painlessperformance.com/webcata...assis+Harnesses
Take a look on my105.com before you commit to anything, as 20k can buy you a lot of car on there. It looks like a fun car, but it doesn't look to be in the best nick, and the parts look a touch old, or it's been sitting in the open for a while.
That's a shame Ross as that'd be great! I really think you'd have a market for some pre-fabbed looms as they're just not available, and people want stupid money for custom ones, if they can be bothered...
A guy in Canada put one in his s14, and had a 23lb weight reduction over the stock loom
There just seems to be too many wires to dick around with on the standard loom, with ABS, foglights, dash etc which I have no need for anymore. There is so much wiring in there that it looks cheaper just to start with a pre fabbed loom and modify it to suit.
This one looks like a good option as it's got everything that I need
