  1. EVO, sorry to answer your first quesion: I have all the bits sitting at home feeling lonely, hopefully fitted in the next two weeks or so. Oh, and a HKS exh cam gear:)
  2. EVO, I am doing cams at the same time, I have 256/8.8in and264/9.0ex so hopefully will take car of the off boost response side of things. The crazy thing is, at the moment off boost is so much stronger than with the stock turbo its amazing. I put this down to a decent set of headers (tuned lenght, ceramic coated) and I am not sure if the front facing plenum is helping too, all up it is awesome. The car is just bloody awesome to drive, just wants to go hard:) I may have to go a larger turbine housing if it starts to choke the top end, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Paul, cheers mate, so how is the GT30 coming along? I have decided that you guys will need to have a bbq when you come over for the drift day. Are you driving over? Would love to check it out:)
  3. And I wouldnt like the front bar repair bills:)
  4. Is that all? Looked like you were the only one there with a decently set up chassis, even the evos were body rolling like a mofo. Your ride height looks pretty close to mine. I would love to slam it, but dont want the attention that it receives from the boys in blue:(
  5. Probably not much point my doing an emissions test for a little while yet, still havent finnished with the mods:D
  6. Well what about straight after the event? Ideas guys, let me know what you think? And you guys over west and east, throw in your two bobs worth too:) I reckon it could be a great way to meet everyone.
  7. I hear you TIMMMAYYY, I thought it was in the thousands of dollars too. The way the eng guy was talking I got the impression that the place doing the tests was only a recent start up. Called it a full california bag test or something.
  8. Sounds like a plan justified - please keep us informed:). Any idea how much they charge for a set?
  9. That sounds bloody cheap - where? where? where?
  10. Really dont know, just going to wait and see:)
  11. Got told by the engineer that I got the quote from that emissions test is $350. Will find out details.
  12. Well, what time does the event kick off? Perhaps a sunday thing? Or pre event? Perhaps during the event? Anybody got any suggestions? Still need a venue. Are there any places in the hills that have picnic grounds or bbqs? Would be nice to do a bit of a combined cruise/bbq?
  13. Some nice photos on the web site too, looks like you get the drift award and the neutral chassis award for the day, what sus mods you got?
  14. Congrats on the results, might want to edit out the num plates though;)
  15. To engineer a car cost a few bucks. I was quoted $1770 IF nothing needs to be changed - ie passes emissions testing, brake testing, chassis rigitity and noise testing, plus all the mods are ok. I am still searching for somewhere that might be a bit cheaper, but other than getting the thing done in qld which it only cost a couple of hundred dollars, I am having trouble finding a cheaper option in this state. If you are worried, as TIMMMAYYY suggests, drive it, then if you get defected, just stock it out. Probably cheaper.
  16. Here is another thougth, James (D1 Garage) is headding over to japan in about 3 weeks, perhaps he could find you a decent second hand jap clutch and pressure plate? He has a couple for RB20 and SR20 at the moment which are pretty cheap, will probably hold a bit better than some of the local stuff (1 in particular) that I have tried. Also, if you think its necessary I could take your car for a blast:p but if you think the clutch is slipping, it probably is:D
  17. It was running a 0.73 turbine housing, Boost hit hard about 4000 from memory, with an 8000 redline - sorry cant remeber exactly at the time I was more interested in power vs boost and how well the hks turbos went once the boost was wound in:D
  18. Any ideas on venues? Perhaps JMS carpark:p or the top of mount loft:D
  19. bbenny, its hard to say, just gotta get the car on a dyno and see what happens. Tuning, fuel, intercooler. plugs, etc - all make a bit contribution to how well the engine will handle boost. On the subject of power to boost, a guy I know was getting around 230rwkw with the same turbo on an SR20 at 1.2bar. 1.3 bar was 240 1.4 bar was 250 1.5 bar was over 280, so I am hoping for good things as the turbo gets up around the 1.5bar mark - time will tell.
  20. hmmm sausage sizzle..... anybody work for a bakery?
  21. RB20 is already 8.5:1, with the HKS 1.6mm gaget, my compression will drop to 8.6:1, hoping to be running around 20-22lbs, maybe a bit more if all goes well:D
  22. Dean if you buy a cheap clutch, you get a cheap clutch. I would strongly recommend you dont make the mistake I did, and buy your self a twin plate. Can be had for $1200 second hand in good cond ($3500new) and they just wont let you down. At the end of the day, you pay $550 for a single plate, then anoter couple of hundred for a pressure plate, then another $200+ plus to fit, then you pay another $1200 when the single shits itself, then another $200 to fit it a second time. I know its a bit dearer, but it is so much better, and will take all the punishment you can hand out. If I had gone the twin straight up I would have saved myself $900 - thats almost a power fc, or a GTR cooler with change:) If you are interested, pm me and I will see if I can get you a good deal on one second hand.
  23. Price reduced to $199.95:p
  24. On a different note, there are a few guys coming over from east and west for this event - what do people think of the idea of having a bbq day (TIMMMAYY to provide the meat at a much reduced price...lol) and have a SAU get together, would be good to catch up with some of the guys on here and see some nice cars from interstate?
