Eoi: [Sa] 2003 V35 350Gt Manual Sedan
sonicii replied to bobhob's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
bought my '05 6MT sedan for $19,000 back in Sept last year, with 74,000km on it. It's a non-premium, but has 18in coupe rims and a few optional extras. From what I have seen, the market has dropped off quite a bit since then, and I think I would only get around $17k at the most if I sold it now. so an '03 would probably be closer to $15k - $16k. However, i do agree with n15m0, not everyone prefers a coupe. I was looking for a Sedan and wouldn't have been interested in a coupe even if I could get one with the same specs/age for the same price. That said.. coupes generally do sell for more. If there are no other 350gt sedans on carsales for buyers to compare with, you might get lucky by listing it at $20k.. although the average V35 buyer has probably done their homework. -
When you are travelling at 100km/h, it is possible your speedo could read as much as 110km/h and still be classified as 'normal'. But most will generally only read about 5% fast. show 105km/h when travelling at 100km/h.
-
most Speedos normally read up to 10% fast..
-
not sure.. but replacing the filter should also be an easy task for any mechanic, if it is required..
-
I think FrakMunkie makes a good point too. A normal service on the CVT shouldn't need any special knowledge other than the required fluid type and how to refill to the correct level. A normal auto transmissions service just involves a fluid change and a test drive. When you need faults repaired you need someone who really knows these transmissions..!
-
Yes, that is correct.

A cvt doesn't have 'gears'. The cvt in the skyline uses two pairs of toroidial rollers. A search on 'extroid' should yield some sites with pictures and a good description. There are very specific friction requirements for these rollers and the Nissan fluid is designed specifically for the extroid cvt. the xtronic cvt in other Nissan vehicles is a very different beast and uses a segmented steel belt. It also has its own specially designed oil. Using a standard auto transmission fluid will destroy a cvt.

Gearbox and transmission are different terms for the same thing. A CVT is a type of transmission, just like a Manual and standard auto are types of transmissions. the only additional item you need to be aware of on a RWD car is the differential, which is at the rear, it also has oil that needs to be changed at specific intervals. I don't think the CVT is all that bad, there are a couple of horror stories, new fluid is insanely expensive and nissan are the only people who make it. The biggest issue is finding a mechanic who has a clue about them. Here is an ebay link for the fluid.. not sure how many tins you will need for a full flush, probably 3 at a guess. That said, there was a guy selling 1 tin on ebay for about $350 recently.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-Skyline-V35-350-GT-8-Transmission-oil-KTF-OIL-/220879380863?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item336d6fe17f

I think that is the idea of the ipod intergration.. you don't need to replace the factory head unit !!

Fs: Rare Nismo Dash Cluster + Gauges
sonicii replied to Cobey's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
They appear to be the same as the S1 cluster.. I guess they didn't make a Nismo S2 version? -

My old J30 Maxima's factory cluster showed 260km/h.. so I guess I don't find a cluster showing 280km/h all that exciting. Still looks better than 180km/h!!! Anyway.. the gauges are all back to front on the above Nismo cluster compared to my factory cluster. -
They are probably the Nismo speedo clusters that have been fitted, the factory standard JDM speedo only goes to 180km/h as all JDM cars are speed limited to 180km/h

^^ what he said.. so many people don't realise/know that the headlight pattern is different for LHD and RHD cars..

Agreed.. UK should ditch imperial, especially since the rest of europe use metric. I can't imagine the USA ever admitting that their system is inferior (even if it is), so they will probably never change.. I am glad Canada didn't blindly follow the USA though! Tyre size measurements still amuse me.. width measured in mm, rim size measured in inches, and sidewall heigh measuered as a percentage of width.. who came up with that system????

poly is harder than rubber, so it won't flex as much. Which can be good as it reduces slight geometry changes under load (heavy cornering). The down side is the bushes absorb less vibration and impact, which means it is transmitted through to the body of the car. Personally I would use poly on non-load bearing items, like sway bar bushes, but use rubber bushes on most other items. That said, plenty of people have used poly everywhere and seem to be happy with it. Have a look on some of the USA sites. Energy Suspension make a lot of poly bushes for the G35/350Z for considerably cheaper prices. Whiteline here in Aust, also do a lot of poly bushes for the 350Z. Also look at some nissan/infiniti supplies in USA for factory items as they tend to be a lot cheaper than local dealer prices. Provided you can wait for it to arrive.

There seems to be too many ways of measuring fuel economy.. UK and USA use MPG, but a gallon is a different amount in UK and USA. Most of Asia use km/L (thus the JDM cars show this). Europe, Canada and Aust (and NZ) use L/100km.. or you can use the Norway/Sweden figure of L/mil (a mil being approx 10km)

^^ S1 or S2? they changed in late 2004.
-
Works on my 05 series 2. Maybe it is a S2 feature? Any S1 owners have this feature?

Limp Mode Error Codes V35 Cvt-8, Help!
sonicii replied to TOOBO's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
With that many voltage related issues with different components, I would be checking the factory grounding points for corrosion or damaged cables.
