  1. i do want to, but i'm not aloud to drive (damn boys in blue), as for mods, i'm not after crazy stupid like 1000RWHP, but am wanting to get the engine rebuilt with good forged internals, better cams, bigger turbo/injectors, ECU, pumps upgraded (whatever is needed), and of cause the handiling side of things, like coilovers, sway bars strut braces (these things will be done first before any more power is put in), and of cause the the stopping mechanisms, i believe they begin with a B so yeah one that i can take to do all these sorts of things
  2. now i have read probably a 50% of this thread and started to get the gist of it, i believe someone asked about performance cars not being built like the skyline and supra's etc etc. and then we have people arguing over FWD RWD and AWD cars, whats better, whats worse. i have had FWD cars for pretty much my entire driving life, untill about 6 weeks ago when i bought my first skyline. my personal opinion is simple, if you want a car that will go well in the twisties with out sliding out and killing yourself, a AWD or FWD would be the go, however, if you want to go around the twisties and drift and have fun like that, then it's simple, get a RWD vehicle. all three types have there good point and there bad points, i haven't owned a RWD for long enough to know much differents, but i have driven RWD cars plenty of times, and honestly, i liked my FWD car to the works RWD commodore, i felt i could go harder in my car then the works car (boss has done worse then i could ever do), and simply felt safer. but this is my opinion, and i have no facts to prove anything, simply my experience. oh and someone said about doing FWD cars up as they are cheap, i honestly crunched the numbers one night when i was doing up my pulsar, it was going to cost me $10,000 to do up, and that was doing the labour myself, i found it cheaper to simply go out and buy a car that already had some power and a good base line to start from, yes i know $10,000 is a lot and i could have done it for less, but as some people might agree, if you are going to do something up, do it right the first time to save on headaches later on, and i wasn't the only one who agreed with me on my choice, a mate who did up his FWD pulsar also said that what i said was true, it was cheaper to get the skyline then continue the build. these are my opinions and like i said, nothing to back them up
  3. i have used quite a few different types of tools, thanks to parents, siblings and work experience, but if i was to buy something for around the home and was going to be buying a full tool kit, with box and cab, then i would be looking at kincrome, SP tool, or repco, they generally have some good packages which will give you like almost everything you need, and are generally less the $10,000, this sort of thing to me is a good idea as i can then pass them down to the kids.
  4. though i am not a ford person, nor much of a bike person, in my honest opinion, the cheaper option here is simple, either buy a really nice bike for track days and enjoy yourself, or buy a really good track car, then from there, get a good towing vehicle, say a Triton, hilux or navara. i personally wouldn't get a car like either a skyline or XR6T pure money into doing it up, and then use it to tow a bike around, it just doesn't seem practical to me, but hey, this is my opinion only. so if you are going this way, i to would suggest the XR6T, as they are a car that is more designed for towing then what a skyline is (plus would be a hell of a lot cheaper to fit a tow bar if it didn't have one already). my two cents worth
  5. my car had one of them filters, when i looked at it, however, as it wasn't boxed in, it wouldn't pass RW, so the guy removed and placed the standard box in. A little off topic, but the K&N Apollo CAI systems, are they good?, and are they legal, as in if i was to sell it, i wouldn't have to replace it with the stock box again.
  6. might have to talk the misses into coming but can't see it happening. on another topic, anyone know a good performance mechanic around petrie lawnton strathpine brendale area?, i want to find a good reliable non over the top mechanic that can be trusted with my car to do some mods.

  8. i'm in brisbane and it weights about 40 - 60 kgs, picked it up out of the engine bay after removing the gearbox from it, still not light though
  9. sorry didn't even open the pic, the small pic looked like a new falcon
  10. oh ok then, well to me, stock is a car producing stock power, and as such would require things like a bigger turbo, injectors etc etc. as for pics, yes, but not till she has a bath, the dirty girl
  11. the GA16DE engine, is the 1.6 L engine nissan put into their FWD pulsar, i believe they started on the N14 pulsar but stopped at the N15, from there they moved onto the QG16DE and QG18DE emgine for the N16 (this is what i am led to believe), as such, i have a N15 pulsar that i was doing up and have pulled out the GA16DE engine and block to which i feel would only be good for a table with a glass top, as it needs a complete rebuild with fresh internals, however, if someone wants to pull it apart and see how it works, it would be fine for that
  12. must say, i have owned 3 cars in my life time, and all of them nissan, first from a private seller, went well no real issues but as it was the N13 with the holden block, it died after a few years, next was from a dealer, spent more then what it was worth, but great little car, still running today, third car, private, again good car, my only advice, shop around, don't put any money down until you have shopped around, taken the car for a spin (either you or the owner taking you [i know some people selling don't want people to drive there car until they hand over cash]), have a look all round, check everything on the car, spend a good hour if you must, but trust me, it is worth taking time to have a proper look at the car before you say yes
  13. 26, male, got my R33 GTS T for a few reasons, 1. i have always wanted a skyline, my dream car is the R34 GT R V-Spec series II, but funds would only allow my the GTS T, which i'm not complaining about, 2. had a pulsar that i was doing up and found that it was a lot cheaper to go and get the skyline with the money i saved then to spend it on the pulsar then have to spend more to get it running. over all i have always wanted one and finally got one, i have never thought of skyline drivers as hoons or tools, this belongs to commodores and felcons, i have always adminerred skylines and have always been envies of them
  14. this guy still around?
  15. never thought of cameras in cars to record things like cops pulling you over, nice idea, might look into it
  16. i managed to pick up a R33 for just above the RRP, and when i mean just i'm talking like $50, the car is in mint condition and have had no problems at all, the guy had it originally for about $8,500, and just kept dropping it, managed to pick it up for $7250, i was going to try for lower but when i saw the car and how she went, i thought na, this guy can have what he is asking for, no all i need to do is wait till i get my license back next month
  17. well in my job, i do a lot of driving out west, were there are pretty much 2 lane roads everywhere, and as such i always give the little wave to the on coming driver, to me the little wave is saying hi yes i'm all good, hope you are ok sort of thing. to me it's just common curdesy to do so, and i never expect a wave back, but is always nice when it happens. also, it is surprising me how many people are still doing the little wave thing now adays in the city. to everyone
  18. looked way to much like a honda prelude, in my opinion
  19. my sister drives a yaris, quite like the yaris to, cheap car to buy, very cheap car to run, has a bit of get up and go when you need it. but i would say for a small family, it would be best to get the sedan instead of the hatch which my sister has (please note, my sister has 3 kids and can fit them in this small car no problems)

  22. nothing huge, if i get 300 kw at the wheel, i will be heaps happy. so why don't you think it's pretty stock for?
  23. take my GA mate, be a nice size for a small coffee table, cheap as for you $75
  24. i honestly didn't read everyones info here, but i would like to put my 2 cents worth in, my misses has one, has had it from new, the only problem we have had with it so far is that for some unknown reason the radiator cap stuffed up, and as such caused some serious over heating to the engine, got that fixed by the "family" mechanic but now has some weird ticking noice and doesn't like early morning starts. now i also just bought my first skyline a few weeks ago and to me she wants my car more then her own car, to me this is funny, but said at the same time, as the holden brand has been known to be a good car in australia for a number of years, but looks like it is down sizing everything so they can keep there high profits. anyway, my two cents
  25. this has given me something to think about, i know that dodgy things can happen on eBay, but the way this has been worded, has given me a reminder of when i bought some items off a guy, i went away and asked the misses to keep the payments going each time, she forgot to do so, and as such came back to a some what angry message from the guy, but as the money had not been payed and just sat in the bank, i was able to do the remainder of the payment to him to which he was happy, but i could clearly see that to him i was doing the dodgy to him in a way.
