  1. I used an Aeroflow mechanical in-line gauge. Proflow also make one. I have forward facing inlet manifold so pics won't be much use to you if you are using standard manifold.
  2. FYI a car equipped with HICAS requires a different boss kit to one without, can't tell from photo whether it is HICAS compatible.
  3. Haha hope not, nah the photos make it look lower than it is, other shit will scrape before the cooler does. Yeah I think so, I just left it with him and said do whatever you think needs doing. Thanks mate, US Amazon for that one, it's a Hayden Automotive 1011 cooler, they make heaps of different sizes and styles. I think Supercheap sell a bigger sized version so you might be able to order through them.
  4. So there's a bit happening at the moment, trying to get as much done as possible before I have to go back to uni, still got a bit I'd like to get done in the next week or so, so we'll see how I go. I pulled the manifold off last night and dropped it off to Aaron at AzCustoms to get fixed, he's pretty busy at the moment so I probably won't get it back for a week or so. I hate seeing the car in bits again! haha. But on a positive note it will give me the opportunity to hide some of the wiring to neaten things up a bit, and will make installing the speed sensitive steering switch a whole lot easier! Also the power steering cooler turned up in the mail yesterday, so I got stuck into installing that tonight. I made up a bracket to hold it (I've since painted it black). So if I've got time I'll finish that off tomorrow, just need to get the right size hose and it will be done! It's going to be fun bleeding this one haha. Once I get the manifold back, the car will be going into Az's workshop to get a new oil catch can made up, then into Tas Mobile to get the Nistune fitted and tuned, along with the new injectors and Z32 AFM. Fun times ahead!
  5. Thanks Pete, good to be back out there! You'll have to come out again soon. It doesn't look like it now unfortunately, I dropped the manifold off to Az today but he is flatout with work before round 1 drift, so don't reckon I'll get it back in time.
  6. Nah won't need to replace it, it's easily repairable. Ha I just need the white Alpine Stars suit now. I just realised today that I have to get it mod plated by March 26th, or I'll have to apply for approval in principle again, so that's made up my mind for me.
  7. I've been using the RaceChrono app for recording lap times, not sure how accurate it is but I'm sure it's a pretty reasonable indication. Here's a quick comparison of my lap times from the January 30th track day and the second session of the track day just gone. Jan. 30th Feb. 10th I felt like I was pushing harder on Feb. 10th, but the lap times don't reflect that. This is probably a combination of the cracked manifold, tyres going bad (understeer) and I had a passenger. I'm waiting to hear back from my passenger to see if they got any data in the first session.
  8. Got out to Baskerville again on Monday. On a positive note, the new fuel pump has seemed to fix the surging issue...on a negative note the inlet manifold has cracked. It was quite strange because the car seemed to be running great on the track (none of the usual signs of a boost leak), but when I came back into the pits after my second session it would struggle to idle and ran extremely lean at idle, took a while to figure it out until a mates keen eye noticed the crack. I believe it is because the alloy sheet used is too thin, I had a feeling this might happen as you could physically see it move as the inlet manifold changed from +ve to -ve pressure when revving. Ah well, I gotta just move on and get it fixed, absolutely nothing against the fellas who made it they do great work, its just one of those things that happens. I could just get the crack welded up but I'm planning to do it properly now rather then later and have the thinner sheet cut out and replaced with something thicker. This time I struggled with some pretty bad understeer, I nearly put it in the tyre bundles on one instance which required a change of undies ha. The front semi slicks have definitely done their time, so some new ones are on the cards. I'm not quite sure if I want to focus on getting it back on the track first, or getting it registered, I've got some thinking to do... Also I have finally got rid of the dirt bike helmet and replaced it with something better, and a tinted visor to go with it.
  9. New fuel pump seems to have fixed my surging issue.
  10. Had a similar problem recently at a track day with a Bosch 040 in tank pump, after about 3 laps I would get pretty bad fuel surge when revving out in a straight line even with a full tank, wideband showed it lean right out when this happened (up to 19 AFR). Also the fuel pump got noticeably louder as the day went on. Possibly due to the mesh filter being a bit blocked but I just replaced it anyway with a DW200 pump. I haven't driven it hard yet but noticed at idle fuel pressure now sits around 38psi whereas with the 040 it was about 30psi. I should be heading to the track on Monday so I'll report back if it fixed the problem.
  11. *alignment, not assignment ha (must have uni on the brain)
  12. Yeah ok I see what you're saying, something to keep in mind for sure, thanks! The suspension in it at the moment is pretty old and cheap, I'll look into suspension and assignment setup a lot more when I get coilovers and the adjustable arms installed (still hanging out for MCA Blues).
  13. I came across this video the other day that I had forgotten about and don't think I've posted, I think this is the 2nd track day in the old chassis, its not very exciting but I found it interesting to watch as I had forgotten how the car had previously driven/handled. I noticed in particular that the old chassis oversteered a lot more, I now have a GTR rear sway bar but I thought that a stiffer rear sway bar increased oversteer, unless the stitch welded engine bay and front strut brace has made a bigger difference than I expected, I don't know enough about this though. I also noticed that I now drive the track everywhere one gear higher, except for down through the S's which I still do in 3rd, Not sure why I didn't change up a gear before hah. Lap times were still about the same though. I ended up deciding on a power steering cooler, it's made by a company called Hayden Automotive in the US, it was only about $35 but of course postage was the killer. Should do the job. I've been talking to some people about the speed sensitive steering and looking at options to make it light all the time whilst at the track, it looks like it should be relatively simple and I'll be able to hook it up to a double throw in cabin switch so I can have it either light steering all the time, or the normal speed sensitive steering. I'll do a bit of a write up on it when I get around to it. Also these turned up in the post today, they're GKTech V3 rear adjustable toe and camber arms. I'll be installing them when I get some coilovers, they look like a good bit of gear! I should be getting back out to the track on Monday for a few more laps, hopefully I don't have any more surging issues with the new fuel pump. I won't get the power steering cooler in time, so a sock over the reservoir will have to do haha.
  14. Yeah ok thanks for the info, I'm not sure whether to go for an adjustable it fixed arm, I might just have to wait until I get coilovers installed/setup and see how that effects things first
  15. Very nice as always mate! Do you have adjustable front camber arms, can't remember, if so which ones? I'm looking at getting some soon
  16. Still looking for ideas on power steering cooler. I installed the new fuel pump last night, turns out the one that failed was a Bosch 040 in tank pump, check out the difference in size between old and new! H I hadn't done a fuel pump instal before but it was relatively straight forward, no issues really, I have already noticed a difference in fuel pressure at idle, I haven't driven it yet though. The DW200 kit included the following:
  17. Thanks mate! Yeah I have considered an accusump, they look like a good bit of gear. I'm going to see how I go with the just the baffled sump first as I think this should be sufficient. Haha yeah, you got me thinking when you mentioned high flows, then that showed up for sale and I couldn't pass it up. Can anyone suggest options for a power steering cooler as I'm struggling? This one would be ideal but they only make them with retarded inlet/outlet sizes, I need 3/8" in/out. http://derale.com/products/coolers/power-steering/series-7000-tube-fin2013-10-28-09-53-271671358447/16-high-output-curved-blade-electric-puller-fan-detail I don't want a big cooler as it would be overkill and just get in the way. Also, the postman was very kind to me today!! I didn't even realised the DW parts had been posted haha. Perfect timing considering fuel pump started to fail yesterday! I've already mentioned it but its a DW200 pump and DW 550cc sidefeed injectors (direct drop into standard rail).
  18. Well finally some decent progress...firstly I've bought some new wheels, these are going to be for when its registered to use on the street, because they are way too heavy for anything else haha. They're Dynamic D-hole 17 x 8" +15, there was also a 17 x 9" +10 which in hindsight I wish I had gone for, but too late now. These won't be to everyone's taste, and I admit they don't look that great on the car as it sits at the moment, but I have a few plans cosmetically (namely, get it painted all one colour!) and it should all tie in nicely when complete. Next, I added some heat tape around the exhaust opening in the rear bar as the exhaust touches the rear bar as its slightly bent, this was just a band aid fix and it didn't work as well as I was hoping. The tape is not suitable for direct heat contact. Then I got around to fitting the Velo wheel I bought ages ago at WTAC, I had been waiting quite a long time to receive a HICAS compatible boss kit from RHD. You can see in one of the photo's why a HICAS compatible kit was needed. I know you can remove that 'thing' but then I would have to cut plugs and rewire the horn and I couldn't be bothered hah. And the interior complete (in track form). Then I took it back to the auto electrician to have the 14pin consult port wired to the ECU so I could connect to ECUTalk to make life a little easier, and also for when I get a Nistune board installed. I'm just using an eBay spec consult cable, seems to do the job fine. Don't worry that's not what my ignition timing is set at, the car wasn't running when I took the photo haha. And finally I got it back out on the track today! The engine feels solid and ran great, no more oil or coolant leaks, apart from boiling powersteering fluid At first I just ran it at actuator pressure (7psi) and when I was satisfied everything was ok I fitted the boost T and turned it up to about 10psi, the car felt much better/easier to drive after this (as you'd expect). AFRs were good for most of the day until the fuel pump started to fail so I called it a day. Best time for the day was 68.77 sec, which is about equal to my previous best time in the old chassis. Plans are now to fit a new fuel pump, I have a DW200 pump already on its way, and fit a powersteering cooler. Then take it for another run and up the boost some more. Then finally get the car back to street form and get it mod plated/registered. I have also bought Tony's (blah_blah) Hypergear SS2 turbo, but that won't be going on till after the car is registered. Would like to enter a Supersprint event or something similar if possible before it goes back to street form as well. Thanks for reading! Any suggestions, throw them at me
  19. I'll be heading out Thursday next week, and possibly Tuesday as well. Dependent on an official being available.
  20. WTB: The following items pictured, for R32 Skyline. Must be in good condition! Also after the projector globe adapter/clip. Contact via PM please.
  21. Looks great! I find painting things very tedious but also one of the most satisfying jobs as it often makes a huge difference
  22. Just read through this, massive transformation, looks great! Still planning on tracking it?
  23. Awesome thanks for the feedback. Do you know what power they are rated to? Another small update, I gave it a good drive today and revved it right out to limiter in 2nd and all seemed good. Oil pressure reached ~95psi and dropped off at limiter, standard should be about ~80psi at 6000rpm but using a standard oil pump with shimmed pressure relief valve hence the higher pressure. At least the oil pump gasket seems to be holding up ok so far!
