  1. As far as I am aware, they have no obligation to extend, however some dealers are providing further extensions for re-certified cars... Out of interest, when I was trolling thru my vehicle manuals over the weekend - the GT-R is the first car that I've ever owned that has a page reserved at the very back of the service booklet to write in the serial nos for up to 3 new transmission replacements! It's a bit alarming to say the least.....
  2. Page GTR-5 of the Owner's manual indicates: Anything damaged due to a change in tune resulting in a +10kPa (1.45PSi) rise in boost (which is easily possible with boost spike on an aftermarket TBE) - at the owners cost Anything damaged due to a change in AFR's to +12 - at the owners cost All authorised GT-R modification parts are to be supplied with a "specified mark" indicating they have been checked & tested, and approved by Nissan. ********** Don't get me wrong, I'm not against mods. Every one of my Subie's and Evo's I've owned in the past have all been modified, and if I blew a tranny in the GTR I can afford it to replace it at my own cost. I just think looking at NAGTROC and other forums, there have been quite a few failures with non-modded GT-R's, as well as others who have modded and have had the usual cry about it when Nissan has refused to warranty it. At the end of the day, you mod at your own risk, and for a $190k+ brand new price tag, if you can't afford to deal with footing the bill yourself, then stick to basic things during that period where Nissan can't argue their way out of repairs.
  3. I doubt it. I don't think these costs will cover a $20k tranny....
  4. Good luck!
  5. Agreed, I share the same opinion on the Cobb tune not being warranty covered. From what I've been told by honest service techs is that any dealership saying aftermarket tunes are acceptable to Nissan Japan, is selling a whole heap of bull 5hit.. Not only that, for a Dealer to mislead GTR owners out of their warranty like that is nothing short of criminal. I'll bet a carton of beer on the fact that no one here will ever get a legitimate letter out of Nissan Austraila accepting liability for anything that goes wrong while running full aftermarket exhausts and Cobb/Willall/etc custom tunes during the warranty period.
  6. Interesting. I hope you got this in writing from the dealer. As far as I am aware (as discussed with my dealer here in Brisbane) if anything fails after you've done anything to the car that contradicts the 11 pages of "how to void your warranty" in the vehicle manual eg. especially power mods like Cobb tune, full exhaust, and or intake mods resulting in more power - you're fuuuked!!
  7. Have any of you installed the JDM LED Daytime Running Lights for the GT-R R35?? I'm trying to work out whether these can be installed by me, or if I have to bow down to the dealer doing it.....
  8. Over on NAGTROC, they've said there are 2 camber settings (racing & street) for the GT-R, and all are delivered with the racing camber setting as the stock setting which is why the tyres wear on the inside first.. I understand you can have this changed to the street setting any time after delivery.
  9. Indeed! Another reason I went new. Mind you, you could wait another few months and watch the price of new 2011's bottom out. I managed to pick up a new Oct 2010 build GT-R in SS for $38k off RRP because a dealership in WA (Magic Nissan) had to clear floor stock - and that price included delivery to me in QLD. They still have a 2011 in blue, which started out at $193k, now down to $177k drive away. I expect this to hit mid/high $160k's when the 2012 models start appearing in dealerships, so that could be a damn good deal. It seems the GT-R market has bottomed out, especially the 2nd hand market, so there will be deals-a-plenty leading up to EOFY sales.
  10. When I was in the hunt for a late build 2010 or 2011 in Nov last year, I contacted a few dealers in WA and NSW who had low kms 2009's. They offered them as recertified Nissan GTR's and a few of the dealers offered an extended warranty on top of the balance after I told them I was not interested unless I had at least 3 years to cover the unknowns. So, some Nissan dealers do offer extended warranties on 2nds - it's hit n miss - but it's certainly not uncommon in the industry. I ended up buying new, so I will never know what the extended warranties covered though - no doubt there was a catch....
  11. I'm interested in the tyres. Which ones are they?? If they're bridgestones, Michellins, or Dunlops I'm in
  12. Not sure, maybe earthquakes et al in Japan have made them focus inward for a bit..??
  13. I know for sure I won't be keeping mine after the wty is gone, unless Nissan can convince me to. The interesting thing is that you'll find 2nd hand Dealer certified 2009 and 2010 GT-R's with 2-3 years additional warranty... So does that mean I need to sell mine to Nissan, then buy it back to get dealer certified lol? It's not the only "super car" out there with the "no extended warranty" issue. Audi R8's, Porsche 911 GT2's and 3's are in the same boat. But for sure the real issue here is why no "consistency" country to country with the Warranty?? Nissan needs to explain themselves.

  15. Nissan offer a luxurious 5 year, 60,000mile drive train warranty in the US, but we only get a 3 year, 100,000kms kms one. Nissan have also issued an additional warranty free of charge for the in dash speedo/revs/fuel gauge back lit system as the fuel light has been known to fail. So, we are kinda in the dark with all the known issues affecting stock cars (ie, who knows when they will happen), and currently the GT-R is the only vehicle in Nissan Australia's range where there is no extended warranty offered. As far as why it's not offered, I'll be asking this question at my next service... http://www.nissan.com.au/webpages/owning/Service_Nissan-Genuine-Extended-Warranty.html Based on the way I baby all my cars, I think if an additional 2 years was offered (at a reasonable price based on condition at the 3 year mark) then I would probably take it - just for the piece of mind.
  16. Indeed.... Would also be nice if they fixed all the sensor and solenoid issues too. AFAIK these are the most frequent failure modes in "non-brutalised" stock cars, which unfortunately makes me a little concerned once the 3 years warranty on mine expires...
  17. ^ this + others in the US have mentioned that Nissan take every bad transmission and study the reason behind the failure based on the vehicle information provided (eg, stock or upgraded, where, how, and what was the driver doing when it failed, black box readings, car service history, etc). This information is apparently then used to assist in future model equipment updates.. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen. Aftermarket guys in the US who have disected various models transmissions have noted that there have been no major changes since the 2008 release. Instead, what has changed is the LC transmission software.
  18. I just quoted myself lol
  19. Spotted a gunmetal/titanium grey R35 on Manly Rd, Brisbane about 4:20pm this arvo on the way home in the troop carrier. Nice ride man, motivated me to out in mine shortly after
  20. Last time I looked this wasn't a Boostcruising forum

Of course, its common sense that the PSS's won't wear as good, being such a low profile and with no RFT side wall strengthening. But for a street tyre - which is all mine will be used for - they are not as brutal on the bumps, and work well in the wet
  23. Sounds like Willall could help you with that. And while you're at it, maybe consider an aftermarket tranny brace + internal upgrades to cope with the additional power I would absolutely love to mod mine, but after reading the proliferation of tranny failures after power modding, I'm quite happy leave mine alone
  24. Yes, in P and N, you will get some rattles. I've had them since 0kms. As far as slowly rev'ing up, there is an assortment of noises and the rev's jump around a bit. Time to do some research mate. Head over to NAGTROC and hit that search button. The guys over there have helped me no end with various worries I've had.

You can get them from the US.. well, you have to get them from the US because Michelin will not be releasing them here (I contacted them already). So their loss IMO Refer here for user comments: http://www.nagtroc.o...ally-announced/
