  1. Well we've sure got some nice windy and wet weather for the cruise I'll still turn up if everyone else does though - I am about to sell my Skyline after 3 years and I've barely met any locals with Skylines.
  2. hehe yeah it was a little shameless, wasn't it I should rephrase what I said about winding back - I'm sure there are plenty of ones that aren't wound back, but it seems pretty damn common to find a a 94 model with 50,000km on it - it's just slightly unbelievable. And you're right about the R32s being in the same price range. I think it might be because they're a bit rarer than 33s. A bit strange though, imo. Thanks for checking my ad out, too
  3. I'll be there if it's still on too. Have we got a list of people who are in?
  4. I think you'll find that prices vary a huge amount as there's no real baseline price that they sell for (stock examples I'm talking here) - possibly because the auction prices in Japan seem to be quite random or vary based on where they were sold. Some cars came in fully modified, so were cheap, whereas some were modified here and the owner wants a little more to cover their costs. Also, the low km requirement is a bit questionable imo - most Japanese cars have had their odometer wound back, so basing prices on mileage is pretty much useless. So basically what I'm saying is that you could probably find a totally stock 95 S1 R33 for $20K (a tad overpriced imo) or you could find a modified S2 96 model for 18K (underpriced). I think if you're willing to pay what they're asking, then buy it. Otherwise, just wait until one catches your eye at a price you like. The 15-20K range you suggested should get you a very nice example. BTW You might want to take a sneak preview of my ad (I haven't put it in the paper yet or in the for sale section) R33 GTS25t for sale Cheers, Michael
  5. Yeah I agree with N/A totally. How can you pass up a Aristo V300 Vertex Edition. 2JZ-GTE VVTi goodness, RWD and the luxury! It's pretty much my dream car.
  6. Yeah, you're pretty limited in the forums you can go to unless you can speak Japanese. Performance forums and Toymods are pretty much it. Toymods isn't that good though, as they seem to have more info on the 4 cylinder toyota engines than the 6 cyl ones. Is your JZX100 a series 1 or 2, btw? EDIT: And what sort of JZX100? ie Chaser, Mark 2 or Cresta?
  7. Yeah my Brant immobiliser was really expensive and is really annoying as it doesn't always respond well to the remote, it doesn't work with a turbo timer (like every other one on the market does these days) and it doesn't unlock the doors when I turn it off (this might just be the way it is installed though). I'd steer clear of them too - even if it is just because they're expensive.
  8. Cool. I'll drop in after work. They should be nice and cheap too.
  9. I bought a Power FC through him and it arrived pretty quickly. I'd definitely buy from him again. He even went to the trouble of putting the Aussie customs code that said the Power FC was tax free on the box. I'm sure that saved me a bit of hassle and money.
  10. Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I just tried to order a Patrol clutch from 3 Nissan dealers, and all of them said that R173N was an invalid part number. It was probably for an aftermarket clutch they said. Does anyone have the exact details of the clutch (or a serial number that works) so I can order it? Thanks, Michael
  11. JZX90 = twin turbo no VVTi JZX100 = single turbo w/ VVTi
  12. If I was choosing between a Chaser and an AWD turbo Stagea, I would take the Stagea. They're such a bargain too. EDIT: I'd swear I typed more in this post. I must have clicked send early. Anyway, the reason I'd choose the Stagea is for the AWD turbo 6 combo - it's a mini GTR. The Chaser does look a hell of a lot better imo though.
  13. You're not going to have much luck finding English URLs. They're basically non existent. I use babelfish and just search for words that they don't translate in google like "1JZ" and "JZX100"
  14. Really? There's heaps more R34s in Newcastle than Chasers. I think I've only ever seen 1 or 2 here, whereas there's at least 8 different R34s that I know of.
  15. I wouldn't mind one just like this. Will this do?
  16. Also, in auto form the 99 Chaser (what I'm getting) has the performance advantage on paper - 378Nm vs 333Nm. That's quite a big difference. The R34 is slightly lighter, but when you're talking cars that weigh 1450kg and 1490kg, that's almost nothing. Manual is a bit different though. The S1 R34 has 343Nm and the S2 363Nm, which is a bit closer to the 378Nm of the series 1 and 2 of the JZX100.
  17. I was in the same situation as you. I had my next car choice down to an R34 Sedan or a JZX100 Chaser. I read 1000s of pages about both, and in the end I decided to get the Chaser. I feel the engine, looks and resale value (hopefully) are all better on the Chaser. I'm getting an auto btw. I worked out that if I feel the need for a manual I can convert it. The manuals are so overpriced (or the autos are really underpriced) that you would be able to do a Supra 6 speed conversion on an auto one for about the same money or even less if you're lucky.
  18. Looks like I'm out for any cruise that day ppl. I can't change my plans for that day.
  19. I should be able to make it, but I won't commit to being there yet. I'll have to rearrange my weekend
  20. Don't they replace the whole headlight unit with the non xenon one?
  21. Shogun I think. They'd just moved from Canberra to Sydney when I had it done.
  22. I'd say you've bought just a plain GTT with some nice badges on it. I hope you didn't pay too much extra for it. It's still an awesome car though, so I wouldn't be upset BTW At first I thought it was just a GTT/GTR typo - T and R are right next to each other on the keyboard. Then I noticed he was after 1 new turbo, not 2 and that in the "Car(s)" field he had GTT.
  23. I don't have the mods on anymore as I'm selling the car, but this is what I had: Full 3.5" exhaust with a HPC coated dump front/combo pipe (this has a separate wastegate pipe that rejoins further down the exhaust). SAFC tuned by Hills Motorsport HKS Type S FMIC Stock turbo, 1 bar by a bleed valve. HKS exhuast cam gear set 2 degrees retarded Fully boxed Trust Airinx pod filter with a cold air feed. NB I do a fair bit of highway driving, so that would have given me higher actual values than most people can expect. The 25% improvement in fuel consumption from whatever you get now, though, should be about right. BTW I'll be selling the cam gear, front/dump combo pipe, pod filter and box in the near future if you want them. I haven't worked out how much I want for them all though.
  24. Yeah, I was pretty happy with the results My AFRs were shocking before the tune, so that would explain why my economy improved so much.
  25. I used to get 400km avg out of my R33 before the SAFC, and after I was getting 500km per tank.
