  1. Where are you fellas getting the Tomei Throttle seal from? Quick look on eBay/google yielded no results for aussie sellers... That said i just cleaned my throttle bodies while doing my head gasket...doh
  2. Did some googling re using ATF, mixed results. Can cause seals to fail due to moving away the sludge/carbon that is keeping them sealed, but it is a great cleaner. Overall, good engine cleaner, but not that great for the engine as some can be bad for seal's/orings. Maybe just using some cheaper oil for a flush may be a better option? Do people run 10w-40 in their RB26's? Sometimes that particular weight in oil is on sale, or even 10w-30? Or should I be using strictly 5w-40 even for flush's?
  3. Can i have some reasons why you recommend Automatic Transmission Fluid to be mixed in with the engine oil?
  4. Lots of people seem to be using 10w-40w oils, the manual for the RB26 calls for a 7.5w. Isn't it better to go the slightly thinner oil at 5w instead of going to 10w? Is it really much of a difference? I am thinking really, as long as you change the oil frequently and its of a reputable brand/quality it shouldn't matter too much? That said, completley different question. Had coolant contaminating the oil in my RB26 (head gasket). Head gasket done, but worried their might be a little bit of coolant in my oil, Whats the best way to flush it?
  5. After having a better look at it, you are correct. Looks to be the wiring for the Series 3 Xenon headlights in my Series 1 GTR. Any thoughts on how to neaten up this spaghetti of wires?
  6. Not factory? Referring to the big bunches of black cable loom everywhere.
  7. Not to hijack this thread, but... Do you think this wiring in my engine bay is aftermarket? It looks like its ment to be part of the cars alarm system, but funnily enough the lights never worked, flashed or anything with the alarm system. Just wanting to confirm IF the wiring pictured here in my engine bay, is indeed NOT factory. Looks like a additional power cable has been run to the positive terminal to power something. Along with just a mess of cable loom wiring in the engine bay. And the right hand side of my engine bay
  8. Fixed, apologies for the confusion. ^ Busted heater hose, and random white cable that was not connected. Brown plugs all good. ^ Broken connector that goes to the block. Think your right when you said it was a knock sensor, as their are two in total? Re the wiring, so i take it nobody has that spaghetti wiring loom mess at the front of their engine bay? I have a feeling its my car alarm install, still super dodgy way to do it. Thought most car alarm wiring jobs are in the cabin.
  9. Looking at what head studs to get, is it worth the extra $$$ to go arp? Or should i get a set of nissan or just reuse the ones i have? They look fine. Don't think its the AAC valve, it goes onto the block, the pic where i posted the block you can see one up the back, its the same as that one just further down in the pic. There is also a bare wire, which had just managed to uncrimp itself from another connector, looked like a ground of some kind. as it just goes onto a single prong. In the 2nd picture i posted, where you can see the cut heater hose. What is that white connector for? It wasn't connected to anything :\
  10. Anyone at all,...?
  11. So a few things have happened since my original post. The -7s are now on the car, although after installing them. The headgasket looks to have blown Didn't even get a chance to tune it and drive it with the -7's.
  12. Well for all those following, Heads off. Now with the head out, I will send it off for a reco, though in the process their were some casualities. I ended up cracking it and just cutting a heater hose, and a two electrical connectors were damaged. Anybody know where to get a replacement heater hose and this particular electrical connector? The other I am hoping to just open the connector, and solder/crimp it back down. In the mean time I am hoping to get a neater engine bay setup, wanting to eliminate some hoses that are not required. Mostly the ones under the Plenum as they were a BITCH to get out! Also, This wiring looks real dodgy and pox as, I don't think its standard/original wiring. Can anybody confirm? Then i will start following it up and eliminating it. Or at least making it neater.
  13. Anybody got any tips for taking the head off? Both turbos are back out. Cam gears and belt still on, looks like my cam timing is one or two notches out on the exhaust side... Do people remove the head with the plenum attached? It looks like a bitch to remove the brackets hiding underneath the plenum. Honestly surprised myself in how quick I was able to remove the turbos
  14. Still running stock injectors, worth spending the cash to get them cleaned? Are there better options out their then the standard nissan gasket? While i would imagine they are good quality, I am planning on running 17-18psi boost on the -7's, would the standard gasket hold up? Or should i look at something after market? Know any places that are reputable to get the head done? And rough costs involved?
  15. Maybe if i had a charity fund....
  16. Going to start taking it all apart tonight...just after i had put my sweet new -7's in Anything else I should be changing while the head gasket is out? Recommendation's on head gasket? (genuine, after market? Nismo? cometic?)
  17. Took all the spark plugs off, and found this cheeky ammount of coolant in cylinder number 5. I am assuming blown head gasket, or are there other means to get coolant into the cylinder?

  19. Youtube Links. Dropbox sucks for streaming. I'm lost for idea's. Figured if it was a head gasket it would be constant smoke? Get worse with rpm's as pressure builds up? PCV valve cleaned, made 0 difference. Although it was gunked up and rattled when i shook it (think thats normal) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVU3XbimIsc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3aQ_biZaf0

  21. Currently fearing the worst. Fresh oil I believe shouldn't look like this? Uploading some video's as well https://dl.dropbox.com/u/44382490/GTR%20smoke/VID_20121031_174524.mp4 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/44382490/GTR%20smoke/VID_20121030_173245.mp4 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/44382490/GTR%20smoke/VID_20121030_173026.mp4
  22. Havnt done compression or leak down tests yet. Will do some more trouble shooting when I finish up work for the day. Hoping its not a head gasket or rebuild time, only put 5000kms on it since ownership Will try and get a video up, keep me posted on how you go with your customers car
  23. Is it easy to inspect a PCV valve? Take it you just remove the hose and have a look? A way to test if its stuffed?
  24. Random thought. Could it be my PCV valve? Running it how ever they come stock, not running a catch can.
  25. Hard to tell, Only started it twice. Turbo's have only just been put on, have not driven car due to it not being tuned. The smoke is hard to describe, it looks like condensation but right now its about 22 degrees? So i don't think its condensation. Smoke comes out on de-acceleration. Only revved it as high as 2500-3000rpm
