  1. As a comparison to give you guys an idea from our gym Max can bench 140kg x 3, will probably do 155kg at Worlds next month, and reps around 40kg on dips at a bw of 88kg Alen benches 140kg and dips with around 40-50 for 10 at a bw of 90kg These bench numbers are official paused benches, not touch and go, normally takes 5-10kg off your best This is just an indicator. Max also has much stronger triceps than Alen Not sure on the value of this, maybe some sort of guide. The problem is we dont really keep close track of our assistance movements, as theyre done late and numbers are impacted by fatigue Its the main lifts we concentrate most on If the guys were to ever do dips fresh, I'm sure they could probably dip with 80kg for a single
  2. Nick, the first assumption I come to when I get asked this is technique/range of motion (ROM) With a bench press or even a STRICT military press, you pretty much cant cheat or shorten the ROM Its very easy to shorten ROM on Dips, in fact I see more people doing them incorrectly than correctly But, unless I actually see you doing the movement, I'm hesitant to guess any further Another reason though may be grip width. If your triceps are stronger, you will be stronger on dips unless you have a very narrow grip on the bench How close is your grip to the outer rings (81cm) Make sure its a proper power bar though, not an Olympic bar. Easiest way to tell is from the edge of the collar to the ring measures 200mm on an Olympic bar and 250mm on a power bar, this is the official measurement on competition equipment
  3. Nice post Tom Nick, your girl is doing really well if she can chin properly There are lots of vids of Amy Dracup on Youtube, she is the best female Crossfitter in Oz
  4. Interesting discussion. So birds, I gather your some sort of self appointed expert in all things strength? In 2011 I held my ProRaw rep challenge. Amy Dracup, who represented Auatralia at the World Crossfit games after winning her regionals, entered my comp. It was squatting, benching, C&J and Ukrainian Deadlifts (UDL's) Going againt her was Taylor Young, she has deadlifted 220kg, and my wife Nina, who has 16 WR in powerlifting. Both strong women, and Nina is really fit as well, there were also around 10 guys, same parameters for all. The Crossfit chick went home with the $2000 cash prize. Not strong you say. At 52kg she can C&J 72.5kg, yet shes fit enough to win Oceania regionals Respect......and shes seriously hot
  5. The problem is that I will struggle to sell your car for $11,000, there are hundreds on car sales for less than $10,000 Like this one for $8,500 http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/subaru-impreza-2000-13099013?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=37&page=4&eapi=2&__N=1246+1247+1252+1282+1216&num=15&silo=Stock&items=[Make:SUBARU,Model:IMPREZA,BaseEnabledBadge:WRX%20AWD]&sort=~Price So while you may be able to get a mint 33 for $19,000, yours may only be worth $8,000 If you undervalue the car your buying, same happens to the car your selling Thats why I asked how much cash you had, I would want $11,000 minimum for my car on top, as I would only on sell your Rex,and I doubt you would pay that. You cant buy cheap and sell dear
  6. Their not pull ups, its called kipping Where most get confused is they think of Crossfit as exercise, its not, its a sport Think of it as a sport and it makes sense Think of it as exercise and youll remain confused
  7. Well my gym is called PTC Frankston. Its more like a club than a commercial gym, you cant simply walk in and train, and you cant buy a membership unless I like you, so you need to train for a few weeks We have the best equipped strength facility in Oz, we want for nothing So because I limit how much I can make, the clients pay more, which theyre happy to do Prices range from $20 a session/$40 week/$1300 year These prices include coaching every session, no PT's

  13. Joey, if it aint broke, dont fix it Nick, what state are you in (dont say excited)
  14. Husky 33 is VERY knowledgable, I'm impressed, Mike and Tolga know, as does Keiran Stolen S15 (Nick) is a machine, one of the hardest trainers I've ever seen, I have a vid of him running 140m.........with a 140kg barbell on his back, running Gday Ali, long time no speak I think Nick has since squatted 250kg, in competition, and Ghosty can rep 2 x bw squats all day Some pretty strong dudes in here
  15. When Max won the Worlds in 2010 in Idaho, we got a lot of publicity. Since then our lifters have improved every year. We now have a PTC in Frankston, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth, Adelaide after Christmas. The Sydney one is least powerlifting orientated with Brisbane the most We set 36 WR at the GPC Nationals on the Sunshine Coast in June from our Frankston gym alone, 105 in total. It was Australias first foray with GPC (Global Powerlifting Commitee), and since raw has only been around for 4-5 years, the records arent massive yet, in any Federation The team of 17 Australia is sending overseas is the largest ever Every lifter that I have was a novice with no competition history, so yes anyone is welcome to lift Nick As far as records go in the 82.5kg class, Dave Parmiter just went 665kg at our Nats, the WR is 675kg, he has the highest All Time Total at that weight in Australia We have a 19yo, Martin Nguyen in the 82.5kg class, he broke all 4 teen WR at Nats, he squatted 227.5kg, benched 132.5kg and deadlifted 272.5kg, totaling 632.5kg at 19. He is lifetime drug free and didnt wear a belt. He now wears a belt and is moving up to the 90kg class next year Nick, have a go mate, once the focus changes to strength, improvement is rapid some cs student on here, Gareth, is a great lifter, squatting over 200kg in competition at around 80kg
  16. lol, thanks. We've shifted our focus mainly to competition and away from general fitness training, so I wont get too involved in the general stuff, but if anyone is interested in competitive powerlifting, i'll gladly help. Were currently prepairing to send a team of 17 to Slovakia in 5 weeks for the Worlds, hopefully Auatralia can win its first ever Team Medal from a WC

  19. As far as the Ferrari and GTR goes, I am extremely fortunate in that I have access to drive the most desirable supercars around In consecutive weekends, I drove the 458 Italia, Lambo Gallardo 560 LP4 and the AMG SL65. Then I had the 35GTR for 3 days I dont even know why those $500,000+ cars even exist to be honest I am not new to performance cars, having owned an R32 GTR, an R33GTR (470rwkw) and an R34GTR, as well as an S15 and Evo7 The 35 is something I didnt know could be built Congrats on your purchase mate
