  1. I thought only the Evo 8MR had the aluminium roof, not the standard 8. (RS also did) Not sure about alloy boots either
  2. Thanks Tolga, answered perfectly Ghosty, they are the Metals I think some of the guys at PTC Brisbane have them, Ricky? There is no entry level. At the PTC's we run novice comps to introduce lifters to the sport, like the comp Nick did on the weekend. Everyone is different, but everyone is welcome, you dont need to be a certain strength to start. Its not cricket say, where you may end up playing C Grade etc, everyone competes together, but essentially you compete against yourself every time
  3. Car sales says $26,000
  4. I've never trained there so I cant comment on all his members, but the ones that travel to compete with GPC are tops Billy is all class
  5. Nick, hi tops are no problem, check out the Metal brand, hi top, awesome shoe Max wears them for all 3 lifts, he likes the grip he gets on bench with them during leg drive Thanks Tolga for the pic and more detailed explanation on Chucks
  6. Elite Physique is hands down the best PL gym in Canberra, and it has quite a few elite powerlifters training there They are in the process of buying more specialist bars, they already have a monolift and a platform Katie Foster trains there, she deadlifted 182.5kg@75kg at the Nats The owner, Billy, is possibly Australias best deadlifter, trained at Westside in Columbus, Ohio
  7. Well Birds, you have to wear correct footwear in any sport, football, basketball etc Squatting. There are 2 options and it depends on your flexibilty/technique. The heel option is a weightlifting shoe. You can buy Do Wins or the awesome Nike Romaleos directly from Ironedge in Glen Iris, Victoria For those that can squat deep without a heel, Chuck Taylors or the best no heel shoe is the one made by Metal. You can get them from Nick at Underground Elite, they are in Brisbane , tell him Markos sent you Bench press, no special shoe required Deadlift, the flatter the better, so Chucks, Metal or ballett slippers http://www.kettlebells.com.au/store/nike-romaleos-2/ http://www.kettlebells.com.au/store/weightlifting-shoe.html http://www.undergroundelite.com.au/Deadlift-Slippers.html http://www.undergroundelite.com.au/Metal-Squat-Deadlift-Shoes.html If you buy at these stores, tell them Markos from PTC sent you, there should be some discount I hope
  8. I've only ever run Yokohama tyres on my imports A048 on my 470rwkw R33 GTR and the same on my 260rwkw S15 On my Evo 7 I switched to AD08's, unbelievable tyre, car came with some cheap crap that some of you guys mentioned, couldnt believe the difference So when I got my current GTR R33, I got a set of 265/35/18 AD08's straight away Extremely expensive, but what top quality part isnt?
  9. This thread is purely for the pursuit of strength in the big 3 lifts, squat, bench press and deadlift. Its not about dieting or looking good, its about lifting more weight CORRECTLY than the guy next to you I know the Presidents of all 3 Feds in Australia, and the State delegates, so if you want to start lifting and youre not from Vic, I can help. I'll let you guys know I am the President of GPC in Australia, but I have also been the State delegate for CAPO, the other Fed is PA. I have close friends in all 3. GPC has the most states under its umbrella, with only Tassie not included As far as PL clubs and Gyms, I can steer you guys in the right direction, let me know where you live and I'll tell you the closest strength gym. If your simply looking for a health spa, just Google it as I'm not familiar with them at all. If you want to lift in a comp, be it novice or National level, with everything in between, just ask. If you want to bench only, there are comps that cater for you Questions on rules, equipment, attire, where to buy, I know the distributors. While I own and run a specific PL forum, I understand the attraction of spending "time" with others that have similar interests, thats why I'm here Ask anything, fire away, I'll try and assist
  10. Tom, I've been talking to Sherro in Canberra, a PTC in Canberra in 2013 is a possibility
  11. Can vouch for this car, very good condition
  12. Do we need to start a powerlifting only thread? I understand that lots of people in the gym dont give a rats about strength, but if there are enough that want to know about powerlifting, training, comps, gyms in each state etc, we'll do it For those that dont know I am the President of GPC Australia (Global Powerlifting Comittee) I also own the only professional powerlifting Fed ever in Oz, ProRawPowerlifting. We gave away $13,000 in 2011 I also started PTC (Performance Training Centre) in Frankston. We now have a PTC in Brisbane, Perth, Sydney with Adelaide opening up around Christmas. They are all strength based gyms, all involved in powerlifting Let me know your thoughts
  13. Nick missed out on the competitors meeting, I explained we judge hard Even though its a novice comp, we judge it like a Worlds, no second chances or whoopsies One guy had his 175kg bench press red lighted because he put the bar back before the rack call Massive difference between gym lifts and comp lifts Nick now has official comp lifts to judge his progress by
  14. Tom, the best gym in the ACT is Elite Physique They hold numerous comps there. Next one is the GPC National Push/Pull, a bench and dead only comp This event will be held on the same day in VIC, NSW, ACT, WA, QLD, NT, November 18. South Australians are coming to Vic to compete this year
  15. Nick did really well, his only issue was weight selection. His last deadlift of 190kg should have been his opener, I think Nick could have pulled 210kg+ This was a novice comp with mostly first timers, none of the 9 lifters I have going to Worlds lifted, theyre really strong Nick also displayed excellent technique on all the lifts As far as equipment goes, nothing better than what we have exists, we have the highest standard available anywhere in the world The bar they guys benched and squatted with costs $2000, the calibrated plates are $14kg This is important as we send lifters to Worlds.......no surprises when we get there
  16. Everything works, nothing works forever
  17. Oh, so Birds is a guy, cheers Mitch Sorry about that Birds, odd username
  18. Birds, excuse my ignorance, but a you a guy or a chick Serious question, not a smart ass, I always assumed you were a chick, but then you said you were 6"3", now I'm confused
  19. There is 3 of us here at the gym with R33 GTR's, a white one, a grey one and my black one, actually all members on SAU as well There Nina's burgers Tolga, worth driving down for
  20. Such a beautiful car. Vics are probably ruled out as we couldnt get a roady, shop has to take pics of car and keep them What a shame
  21. Best Skyline that shows up, as judged by me, gets a free burger
  22. Nick, I'll be at the gym from 11am on Sunday, till late afternoon. Have a new guy lifting that benched 175kg last night in my gym. He's a bodybuilder that recently won his first IFBB show. He is 173cm and 94kg. He is odd in that he squats 190kg x 6, deadlifts 250kg and benches 175kg. Most BB dont train that heavy. He is very thick. I know a couple of the guys that compete against him, one NEVER deadlifts and only does 1/2 squats Will be interesting to see how Michael goes in a comp, I reckon he'll go over 600kg first time out.
  23. Thought you guys might enjoy this. After this warm up, he squatted 285kg
  24. Not sure if you post Youtube vids on here, but this is an overload exercise we use. The SlingShot allows help off the chest, but the triceps still need to lock the bar out I use this exercise to see which lifters need help with triceps and which dont We aim to strengthen the weakest part of a lift
  25. Nick, I'm in the gym everyday from 11am till 9pm
