  1. lol, yeah i normaly dont do this but it is fun to do once and a while... as for miss-shift, dont think so...just pulled on him. no dyno yet, have to sort the spark problem then dyno time.
  2. having a few problems with spark being blown out, so limited to 16psi right now...new plugs and regap to .8mm should fix the problem. for your enjoyment... http://www.3rdgearvtec.net/Andys%20Videos/Carls%20Vidz/ you will need the divx codec to watch these www.divx.com
  3. interesting...iirc the bearing width for the conrod bearings is what the main diffrence is between the 2.
  4. if i didnt have a gt30r i would go with the gt-rs, looks like it suits the rb20 perfectly.
  5. we have a 750whp civic that prowls the streets here in charlotte, thing is sick nasty. makes so much power that he can only do a few pulls before the trans casing deforms and he can no longer get into gear.
  6. ledgend01 - thanks, yours sounds to be pretty evil when done too. im currently running an rb25det power fc and 720cc injectors, i found using 550cc injectors on the old setup it was going over the 80% duty cycle (not by much mind you...) but it was enough to make me think of upgrading. when one of my supra buddies upgraded to 1kcc injectors i sold mine for 200$ and picked up his for 200$ so it was a straight trade really... hopefuly this weekend we will get some video. tune is all hammered out 13:1 from 3.5-4.2k(spool up,no more than 10psi) then from 4.2-5k it goes to 12:1 then from 5-8.5k its a solid 11.5:1 ratio. she seems to go quitenicely and on base boost scared me a few times as 1st and 2nd gears have questionable traction... and yes, the s14 engine bay is HUGE compared to the skyline or the s13 engine bay (which the motor was in at one point).
  7. same rail as the rb20det, shouldnt be a problem.
  8. boooo. i dont believe in dynojets like most guys round here, either dyno dynamics or mustang...its bout right .
  9. i run -6 line on my turbo, -8 may be a bit much...
  10. lol, well whatever i got them new for stupid cheap (200$ usd) and they do work...just behave strangely sometimes. heres a good website on basic injector info... http://www.sdsefi.com/injectors.htm never been a fan of domestic style (rochester) injectors, they always seemed big and chunky, plus they tend not to have many import applications.
  11. nope, im a damn yankee apparently here in the states. let me tell you how much fun it is trying to source rebuild bits that you guys can walk into any auto parts store and get...
  12. eh not quite man, i pulled 288rwkw on 17psi...and this was on a motor with poor compression. its possible to do but there may be cheaper ways to go about this. if you are interested in 'beasting' up the old rb20 take a look at my rebuild thread...ive done everything but rods in the motor.
  13. i had a set of rc branded lucas injectors to suit a 7mgte, had 4 holes in the cap but it was recessed back into the injector body a touch so i think thats perhaps why it ran so strangely.
  14. right right, whatever turbine housing that got shipped with my 30r isnt the gt spec bit, it fits but its certinaly not the gt one as the gt one has 3" outlet while mine only has a 2.5"...this may be contribuiting to some of the weird spool charcteristics that im getting from this turbo. it kind of irritates me that this happened but it was too late before i noticed. manifold clearance is fine really, more space than i had originaly expected while more would be nice this will for now. center section is indeed a 30r center section as is the compressor cover, but like you pointed out the exhaust housing is a touch strange, hopefuly anyone who goes after a 30r in the future will grab the right one.
  15. while the manifold is coated it still gets a touch toasty...thinking of fabbing up a sheet metal heatsheild, shouldnt be too hard i would think. finished the intake pipe today, not terribly pretty but it does indeed work and seems to do its job of keeping the intake charge cooler, however due to the exhaust manifold and wastegate the charge pipe on the hotside and the intake tube catch quite a bit of heat even tho they are pretty far away from the manifold. im thinking that the external gate isnt dumped far enough out of the engine bay so im proly gonna extend the dump tube a bit... HOWEVER...from this latest run down the road car seems to pull quite nicely and has good afrs to redline, pulls so hard its actualy kinda scary because of how fast it gets going. gonna try for vids this weekend...
  16. proly is using the rb20de flywheel, it is simmilar to the sr/ka flywheel.
  17. hooray blowthru maf!
  18. z32 should suit you fine but max out the stocker first, upgrading maf causes you to loose low end resolution...
  19. lol, the filter is only temporary...fabbing an intake up for it tommorow.
  20. a few updated pics...motor is in car and broken in, tuning is almost complete. got a few rich spots to sort out but other than that its almost there. kinda sucks but the brake master died (was leaking externaly) so i just got done replacing that...oh well only was 30$ at the junkyard when i got it. what it looks like from the drivers seat: defi gauges (oil pressure, water temp, egt) and greddy e01/wideband and a few exterior shots, first time the car has been washed in 6 months.
  21. i assume you are refering to the MAP ecu which is popular amongst the supra guys... it works but it is a piggyback system and not a 'true' stand alone piece, something to consider.
  22. ive found that using disc type injectors instead of pintle syle (as std) will result in strange idling and interesting cruising...
  23. tis a factory piece of kit if its on the std loom...
  24. iirc the block is a good bit taller than the std size rb block...
  25. i had looked into using the biki board for the rb20 ecu and even had one in my hands for a short bit but the biki board doesnt 'truly' support the 27c256 prom based ecus, it requires a jumper harness... to my knowledge lucas (badbiki) hasnt completed the prom ecu stuff yet.
