  1. just throwing an idea out there... but i dare say the effects of a lightened flywheel would be different from turbo to NA applications... no?
  2. ohh it gets all juicey and technical... nice! here's what a few minutes searching came up with: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=2475963 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...=102395&hl= http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&p=886217 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=1191873 seems like all positive results.
  3. blacklash??? sounds like you need to learn to do smoother shifts, rev match, etc.
  4. bolt on two turbos... bolt on a supercharger... dont be an idiot
  5. i dont have a lightened flywheel so i cant give my personal opinion... but i have heard otherwise... maybe a search might yield some results (i know i will when i get a spare minute) as long as you are reasonable with the weight of the flywheel i.e. 6kg then i dont see a problem. once you start dropping down to 4.8kg flywheels then expect a significant change in driveability. for the record i believe the standard fly is somewhere in the vicinity of 7-9kg?
  6. exactly... it's an easy 10k build right there - i couldnt see myself justifying that kind of cash for it. there are also harmonic issues that RB30s are notorious for, and you wont see past a healthy 6,000rpm without throwing more money into it.
  7. what's the multi fit pattern?
  8. there's a few things you can do, some wont increase torque - but will help you get off the line quicker. - extractors - sensible sized exhaust - lightened components (i.e. flywheel, tailshaft, rims, etc). - nitrous personally i'd go for the flywheel, thats on one of my list of things to do. hope that helps eug
  9. hahaha yeah.. actually it's probably a good time to source an RB26 head... they have halved in price over here in australia over the past few months. i had this RB30 plan all down pat late last year, i kept trying to convince myself that it would be cool, and i'd talk myself out of it then back into it. it was a vicious cycle. i have actually decided to scrap the entire idea and go for something a little different. anyway, this is pretty much what i had in my head what you'll need: - more compression 12:1 if possible? depends on fuel and tune - hypereutetic/forged pistons - hardcore cam shafts + cam gears - new ecu D-jetro? - throttle bodies w/ rb26 head (trumpets?) port and polish head - extrude hone intake and exhaust ports - aftermarket harmonic balancer - increased redline - knife blade & linish the crank - balance everything! pistons, rods, etc etc... that should hopefully see you easily into 150-170rwkw territory, with a nice revvy and responsive motor. problem is, this really hasnt been done before - you are into R&D now. hope that gives you a bit of direction.
  10. RWHP maybe??? because 13.7 is pretty appauling w/ those power figures.
  11. that sucks to hear Geoff... here's a link i've been saving for quite sometime... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=2299153 it's sydneykid's ultimate build, i think you can steal some ideas from there... although this is starting to look into race car territory - i'm pretty sure it'd be a handful on the street.
  12. nice sean... glad you are happy sounds like you've got a nice little package there...
  13. sexy time... you know where for you know what happy days marc
  14. i think there are a few other factors (along with different fuels) you'll need to take into consideration cara. - was it on the same dyno? - were the dyno settings the same? - were the intake and ambient temperatures the same/similar on both days? i've had my car on the same dyno on the same day run back to back and can confidently say you will most likely always get a ~5kw variance each run. yes fuel mixtures have some effect, and yes it's advised that if your car is tuned for a specific brand of fuel it's best to run that particular brand as much as possible. it is also not uncommon to have a bad batch of fuel, maybe the petrol station tanks were running low (sediments on the bottom? or whatever). 7kw is nothing to worry about, i bet the next time you run it'll be different again.
  15. agreed, probably the only 400R kitted GTST that i've liked. i've been hanging out for one of those R32 GTR lips but for the 33... wonder where he got it?
  16. ohh... nicely spotted there scott!
  17. i think a settlement on the track is in order
  18. in before lock heya matt
  19. cara, with 4 (or more) buyers in our group buy the extractors cost AUD$185ea, plus a AUD$15ea gasket, and hp coating cost AUD$170 (optional) combine that with international delivery of approximately AUD$60-70. you have yourself a set of basic extractors for as little as AUD$260 to a fully macked out set for AUD$430'ish. $1200 is a rip off unless they plan on using titanium tuned length with gps system built in or something fancy. eug
  20. yeap... a general thing is that people start by throwing in coilovers in straight away. the standard spring rates on skylines are actually pretty good. front and rear swaybars are the best bang for buck mod i've done suspension wise
  21. nice to see you back james... it's been a while... slip told me all about back in the day
  22. manwhore: get a screamer, you know you want to i think it's probably just an off the shelf tin one? the RB twin cam NAs are difficult to fiddle with, they tend to get a real high raspy sound which is a mish to deal with
  23. wrong section buddy... however the exhaust system is one of the biggest bottle necks in most production motors.
  24. neither... i get a model series error
  25. cara, any exhaust shop can cut the flanges off. hell even i could do it with an angle grinder (bit dodgy though ). a quick break down of what's involved: firstly, you'd have to make sure that the port sizes are at least similar or the same. then, cut off the flanges get flanges made up and weld them onto the RB30 ones. it's a pretty rough method, and price wise it'd definitely work out more than the prices i managed to organize for the group buy. although if you know someone with a mig and with a bit of skills, and could snap up a set of extractors cheaply then it'd work out similar. hope that helps eug
