Couldn't agree more guys.

As a founding member of SDU I have had a lot of sleepless nights lately. The forum has got out of control, and we are taking steps to get it back under control.

See my earlier post regarding an Aussie SDU.

Gents,

Thanks for the invite. I'm a little confused. I drop in about once a day to read most of the SDU OZ posts and I have not noticed anything wrong with the SDU. Maybe I just don't read all the post unless they take my eye.

I have had a few posts up and never been moderated, could someone please fill me in because I'm unsure what people were doing wrong and why anyone would delete or stop a thread.

The Internet is a rare thing where people can stand up and have their stay. I have seen people absolutely sh!t all over UAE but I still go there and have a chat with John, but I don't buy much. What ever happen to freedom of speech? Is this SDU moderator thing just a couple of 18 year olds on a rule the world trip or did some people step over the mark?, which is hard to do because if you don't like what you are reading then don't read it.

Please explain.

Thanks

OZ

They're basically telling you what you can write in which forum and that's that. eg in the for sale forum, nemisis has been cracking down on anyone that posts a thread in which they didn't state ;name, pic, landline contact number, price etc. It's really funny. Oh, and you can't post unless you pay $20 from 1 July. They're just sick of the some of the shit that went on I guess. Oh well, you'll still see me there as I'm learning a shit load and you'll still see me here 'cause I can type SHIT LOAD without getting a warning.

Keep it real Prank!

Thankyou for your honest response Starion. I have always looked upon you as a good honest SDU leader without nonsense. You and Brendon Makes all the difference. I love my SDU but it is sad that it has come to this and everybody is victimised for it and no socialising is allowed.

theres a story behind everything.. such as the for sale forum, certain individuals have been ripping off a lot of people using the for sale forum (taking money but not sending goods, some for thousands of $), the new posting requirements were implemented for forum users benefit, why?

- they are required to give multiple means of contact, no free email addresses and a landline number to prevent against people using prepaid mobiles and disappearing after they have your money.

- they are required to post a photo to prove the acually have the product they are "selling"

the for sale forums were provided free and were very good targetted advertising, its a shame they were abused by some and these restrictions had to be put in place. but.. hey, at least they are still there.

Well mine is still on the car but I can't guarantee for how long. as it is I have already become comfortable with things around here, I think if we just look at SDU as a technical resource and nothing more it should all be sweet. I mean who has "encyclopaedia brittanica" stickers on their car? 8)

i can't be stuffed taking the sticker off.

hopefully we get an Aus club up and running. if not to bad.

but i'm gonna use SDU for the tech info, can't find any better place for in the world atm.

its helped me lots and i'd like to see it keep going in some fashion. I can understand there point of view but would of liked the social side to stay.

    • Has equal chance of cleaning an AFM and f**king an AFM. I think you can work out what happened. When the Hitachi ECU sees the AFM die and goes into the associated limp mode, then it will start and run just fine, because it ignores the AFM and just runs on idle maps that will do what it needs to get it going. But there is no proper load signal, so that's about all it can do. My suggestion? If you don't want to go full aftermaket ECU, then get some R35 GTR AFM cards and some housings to put them in, in the stock location, and Nistune the ECU. Better to do a good upgrade than just replace shitty 40 year old tech with the same 40 year old tech.
    • So my car was recently having trouble starting on initial crank, I would need to feather the gas for it to start up but besides that it would start and run fine. So I clicked the idle air control valve (with throttle body cleaner) and cleaned the MAF sensors (with MAF cleaner). The start up issue was fixed and now the car turns over without the assist of the throttle, but the car is in limp mode and wont rev past 2.5k RPM. From what I understand the IACV would not put the car in limp mode, so I am to believe it is the MAF sensors, but it was running fine before and now I cant get it out of limp mode. I cleaned the MAF made sure the o rings were seated properly. Made sure the cables were plugged in properly, the cables also both read the same voltage. Does anybody know why this is or what could be causing this or how to get it out of limp mode?
    • Ooo I might actually come and bring the kids, however will leave the shit box home and take the daily
    • Thanks. Yeah I realised that there's no way I'd be able to cover the holes with the filler, it would just fall through. Thanks again @GTSBoy!
    • That was the reason I asked. If you were going to be fully bodge spec, then that type of filler is the extreme bodge way to fill a large gap. But seeing as you're going to use glass sheet, I would only use that fibre reinforced filler if there are places that need a "bit more" after you've finished laying in the sheet. Which, ideally, you wouldn't. You might use a blob of it underneath the sheet, if you need to provide some support from under to keep the level of your sheet repair up as high as it needs to be, to minimise the amount of filler you need on top. Even though you're going bodge spec here, using glass instead of metal, the same rules apply wrt not having half inch deep filler on the top of the repair. Thick filler always ends up shitting the bed earlier than thin filler.
