Fully synthetic all the way.

motul 8100 Excess, 5w 40? from memory.

Get a hold of a 20% repco voucher and go buy like 5 bottles and 5 filters, a funnel, shifter, oil wrench and oil pan. You'll never look back.

There's nothing like bonding with your car when you're putting nice new fresh oil (read: Cars blood) in it.

  • 3 weeks later...

can anyone comment on the fuchs range for a RB26? .... they have an engine oil 5-50 fully synthetic for 65 dollars... the rep told me he used to work for nissan servicing and this is the best he has seen!

Edited by ishh

I did mine yesterday for the first time, and with my body kit, i jacked up the car, remover the front right wheel, (my sump plug is on that side) dropped the oil, let the jack back down so it all came out.

Then basiclly take the filter off, becarful it will still have oil in it just tip it upside down, the oil filter is a Z145A, pick them up from repco about $11 for the RYCO (there best at repco) filter.

Make sure you run yrou engine before you drain it, so let it idel for 10mins or so, or take it for a normall run, then have tray ready for the oil to run into, and drop your oil, or if you have a low body kit, jack it up and run it for 10mins on idel.

Take out yoru sump plug, carefull the oil will be hot, let it drain out, then once its empty take of the filter, (make sure your cap at the top is open it'll help it drain easier) make sure the copper washer is on the sump plug its a 9mm ID and 16mm OD.

I poor 100ml of good oil through to flush it, then wait for that to empty.

Put your new filter on and sump plug back on, make sure yoru car is level, then refill, i used MOBIL S 10w40 abotu $28 from BIG W. (cheaper there than any auto shop) put the new oil in, mine took about 4.9 lts, so u shoudl be safe of 1 5ltr bottle, but be carfull each year modles slighty different i herd, (aka size sumps)

Basiclly check and double check you dipstick, when it read full or high, turn you car on run it for abotu 20second and switch it back off, this will pump the oil through.

After that check the dipsitck again and top it up if nesscary.

Hope this helps, i did mine yesterday onteh public holiday, i'm new to these engines so :D i know what its like needing help.

Thankfully this board is very helpfull.

benm i will spank you if i catch you putitng turbolight in your new GTR. 4100 is a very cheap oil and is not a full synthetic oil. it is a blended oil. go at least for the 8100, but i would say use the Chrono 300V.

I've used the castrol forumla R 10W60 and personally i think it's too thick. a good full synthetic around the 10W40 area is what you want.

I have always heard good results from Redline 10w30 engine oil, especially how clean it runs in the engine and turbo.

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
