WTF is up with Chapps Tonight????

Recommended Posts

........So Im on the way home from the gym, like a few hours ago, and since my gym is just around the corner from Chapel street, I thought Id pimp a bit on Chaps by showing off my new rims. As Im driving down Chaps I notice 2 cop bikes and a cop car behind me and 2 cop bikes behind me, so my first reaction is turn down the stereo cos I dont wanna get busted for that out of all things, then as Im heading towards Toorak road, I notice that outside Studio Cafe the bike rack has cop bikes lined up everywhere, and on the other side of the road, this pig is doing a hardcore inspection on what looked like a stock as R32, and other cars are being inspected as well....So I was like WTF?????? And just as Im about to hit Toorak road a cop pulls up next to me and starts looking at my car, but fortunately he drove on. WTF IS UP WITH THIS SH*T?????

Lets face it, Chaps is all bout the car culture and at this rate its gonna go bye bye

no **** the car culture at chapel street!

i hate it! its gay!

my granparents live off chapel street and i been going there since i was a wee little lad and its just gotten worse and worse

i hate it!

Lets face it, Chaps is all bout the car culture and at this rate its gonna go bye bye

chapel street and the car culture!??? you mean the losers that have nothing better to do with themselves on a friday and saturday night so they drive up and down showing off their small penis'. Seriously people that would prefer to drive up and down a street all night in heavier then peak hour traffic instead of going for a drive somewhere where they can drive their cars how they are supposed to be driven are total wanks!

thats my 2 cents, not directed at anyone, just voicing my opinion!

Okay, for starters when I do a Chapel street run, I go down it once, no laps or that stuff. I agree the wankstas who go back and forth are stoopid, but hey, lets face it, you get the bad with the good. I dunno about you guys, but I have seen some pretty cool looking cars on Chaps, and thousands of riced out pos's. Even tho a large percentage of the people who congregate on Chaps are dickheads, they do have cars, and there are many cars that drive down that street, so whether you like it or not, its a part of the Melbourne car culture, maybe not the best example, but still a part never the less.

Again, wheres a GOOD place to experience Melbourne car culture?

I enjoy going down chapel street a few years back but lately its been crap!.. hoons are reving their engine out which goes about 5 metres then stops due to the heavy traffic, blasting their radio while damaging their own eardrums just to get attention? whats with these guys? gee's... are they really that bored? from all these bad experiences I hate chapel more and more...

okies then....

Where is ther GOOD car culture happening in Melbourne?[/qoute]

You are talking with all of us right now :P

it's kinda silly really, but I guess people know if they wanna get somewhere quick, don't take chaps...and back streets around there are pretty well set up to avoid chaps all together, which again runs into doxx's problems.

But the one time I do like doin a quick lap is mid sunday afternoons on a nice day when you get the chance to see the 355, 360 or Diablo outside Cafe Sienna...

Paul Paul

i was in chapps last night and i was in a proton dumped with 17" wheels, cops where EVERYWHERE you cant even through a but out the window and youed get busted.

But i did see a white R33 skyline whith a chik driving it had GTST badges but they didnt look like standard badges just wondering where there from.

    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).
    • Ok thanks 🙂 I will higly consider this. Any "known" company for a good reviews and experience to send that off? Is that CJ-motor good one? Or go straight to GCG site? I need to use VPN to even find some of those "shops" let alone access them 🙂
    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence. Can't access the attachment without being a gold member, but it is there for the getting if able to, or searched up elsewise perhaps. https://www.hpacademy.com/forum/general-tuning-discussion/show/wmi-vs-e85/
