I've got a Hybrid front mount intercooler on my R33 gtst. I wanted to know how anyone has it mounted from the top of the cooler.

I'll give you a bit of background. I had the stock front reo bar modified to suit the cooler and had a good job done on it. Next I had a 400R front bar fitted by another smash repairer. They removed the front reo and attached the top of the cooler to the botton of my headlights.

Now over the course of time the front end has sagged. What I would like to know is how have you all got yor coolers mounted from the top. Pictures would also be a great help too.

If there is a bracket that came with the cooler I no longer have it cause some place has gotten rid of it in the process. So if I could get one that would be sweet.

Cheers.

Yep, they sure did, didn't find out until I went to get a quote to get it reparied the guy looks at it and says. "you've got cable ties holding this up"

I rang the place that fitted the front bar, and his excuse was that the aftermarket bar wouldn't fit with the stock reo on and thus removed it. when I challenged him to say, couldn't you have cut the reo to fit he just replied with umms and uuhhss...

Hi Jeremey,

If you look at the photo from the install in the first pic post-8610-1136330554.jpg looking from the top of the intercooler you can see the 2 steel plates that stick out going back towards the car.

They are used to mount the intercooler back more, you will have to cut them up yourself they are not very long at all,and what they do is give the front of the intercooler space to sit behind but still under the reo(reinforcement bar) and add support.

Use all mounting locations on the intercooler.post-8610-1136330697.jpg

I have made up a ''top veiw'' paint program drawing to give you an idea. You can see how the intercooler sits behind the front of the reo but still underneath it.Also the top of the endtanks of the intercooler sits snugly between the headlights giving you a good central mounting location.Im not to sure but i think that the brackets can sit under the reo bar or on top.But definently as in the pic they can sit on top.

The intercooler can also be mounted further back. The intercooler doesnt nessesarily have to be mounted half/half under the reo like in my drawing. That is unless you have somthing stoping it like an oil cooler.

Thanks to paulr33 and anonomous for the pic donations.:)

well in short, I have no front reo anymore.

The smash reparies removed it rather than cutting it so there is nothing holding the intercooler up excepts the mounting brackets on the bottom.

It was attached to the front headlights via cable ties but they have broken off.
