My odometer has been stuck for about 3 months now - about time to get it fixed - is it possibly just a disconnected wire that someone can talk me thru reconnecting or is it better to take it somewhere and who does that kinda thing?

My clock was wound back in perth believe it or not - thanks to a service sticker left on my car when i bought it that looked like had nothing on it but when i pulled it off you could see the imprint - next service due Aug 02 or 104,000 - it had 72,000 on the clock when i bought it (which i thought may have been done in japan) so go figure!

Anyway if anyone knows about getting it ticking over again let me know.

Thanks

If the speedo ( ie. speed reading ) is working then the problem is in the speedo head.

afaik there is no separate input for just the odometer.

Would guess it will have to be removed and repaired. Try Aisat Instruments in Kurnall rd Welshpool or TISCO in Railway pde Subiaco.

Could be a good time for the Nismo 320kmh speedo to go with the new found SAU cruising speed:D

Cheers

( who me officer ?? )

Just thought this being more localised if i cant do it myself (because its going to have to be really simple for me to do or pull puppy eyes and get one of my mates to do) anyway back to it i thought that the WA forum would have more of an idea of somewhere local that can fix the prob for me.

yeah thought of Asiat because one of the guys at work have used them - haha yes my evil lil mind was ticking over what i could have put in while they had it pulled apart - if your going to have something done might as well go the whole hog :D

A friend of mine has pulled his mates skyline dash apart to put some god damn ricey red lights or something behind it and he has a fairly good understanding of cars so i was going to ask him (because he managed not to stuff it) but if its a lil more complicated then ill take it to a specialist

my car was a private sale so no point opening up a can of whoop arse on anyone plus your pretty vague if you think a 94 really has 70,000kms on the clock - u just accept that with jap cars comes lil things like that. Its was more that it was a perth wind back and not a jap one like u orignally assume also done not long before i bought the car - i mean 104 is ok for the year - i would of still bought it if they left it like that. But noooooo now i have to go find someone to fix someone elses dodgy work!!!

lucky its just odo stuffed everything else fine.

Aw11 its really not worth it - the cars in really good mechanical shape thats all im concerned about - i know fairly accurately how much its actually done and that doesnt worry me. But cant really keep track of what im doing if its buggered.

My Z31 is an 88 and did only 114,000 i know thats accurate because ive met the guy and basically it only had one owner before me (well there was one guy in between that had to sell it back to yard cos of wife preggers) and i met him - had several other cars as well so it was mostly garaged.

Anyway towards the end of the month i'll pull it apart - then yell for help when i cant get it back in - probably make it worse.

You have to know a bit about the history of the car - from that u can determine if what u are seeing on the clock is real or suspect a bit of foul play.

with my car i know its foul play and aw11 you probably have good reason to believe your kms are real and they probably are - its a general comment doesnt apply to every import but theres a fair chunk out there with fake kms.

Friend of mine has taken one apart before. When it was working i took him for a cruise in my car and he was explaining how it all came apart but i wasnt really taking it all in - wish i tried now. He said it was easy so i might have to get in touch and ask for a demo.

    • Yeah pretty impressive hey, good to see quality products not over-shooting their prices. That's what drew me to buy the hypergear turbo, just a shame I've never got the chance to see it in action
    • Thank you GTSBoy and MBS206 I have done the compression test with the motor out of the vehicle, reason for the test was to see if I needed to remove the head and do rings etc while its out. I'm in the process of respraying the vehicle and tidying up a few things. Story behind it all is I've just purchased the skyline and it was running when I got it, never drove it on the street though as I wanted to pull it down and do it all up again before registering it. the gentleman I purchased it from told me the motor has a forged bottom end and has a decent tune through it but I was going to pull the sump off anyway to see if it is a forged bottom end. that's why I thought id do a compression test beforehand.
    • Man, I'm kind of amazed that the price of the turbo has not changed in 7 years. Everything else is inflating beyond reason, but not this? Good on Tao / hypergear I guess? Anyways, good luck with the sale!
    • I'm selling my brand new, in the box, never used Hypergear ATR45 - and I had some additions I paid for a few yrs back when I purchased it. Never ended up having the rest of the money to add all the mods at once, so I just ended up slowly selling each part. I originally had it internally gated, with the dump pipe, however I found it was incompatible with what I was going to use it for, so I contacted (I think Ken) from Hypergear, and he and I messaged back and forth & he got me to ship the turbo back, where they modified it & made it externally gated, and gave me the 5 bolt dump pipe attachment for custom welding. (Photos below) This turbo like I said has never touched the inside of an engine bay, it's completely brand new, never used, been sitting in the same box it arrived in, covered in plastic & all. Below are the photos of it: And while the guys at Hypergear were making it in-shop, they sent me some photos of the process: I'm looking at selling this just because I'm in need of the money right now, and don't have plans on modifying the 34 anytime soon - and from reviews & peformance sheets, this turbo had amazing results back when I was researching. The turbo was purchased in 2018 for $1.9k, with the mods I got added on. Looking at the website now, for the same turbo they sell (ATR45SAT), with the current addons it adds up to $1830 for the turbo Current addons included: - Bolted dump adaptor - Ball bearing CHRA - Braided oil feeding line So I'm looking to possibly sell it for around $1800, with shipping included in that 1.8k, It cost me around $120 to ship - so yeah thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone was interested in purchasing. Cheers!
