Hey all,

Car is going into the workshop on Monday...

Turbo will be removed and sent down to GCG for my Highflow :D

Jaycar gear should be on the way very soon as well...

Highflow is costing me $1500 due to a slight sponsorship as well ;)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah no, just the turbo, stock tubo goes hard, and with my pfc I could really use the highflowed to it's full potiential, it'll be just a waste putting it back on yours...... :D jk

I wish I had the funds to highflow, will eventually :D That is the only thing really left to replace on my beast :D

how did you manage the sponsorship? are you putting stickers on your car or something?

Yea basically. Just got in contact with them, things I was planning on attending etc. So yeah, in exchange for a sticker :(

Yeah well I basically paid for the whole car etc etc by myself. And now I need their help, so yeah, good folks :(

Chris, are you taking your car to a workshop? Is it just the turbo you're removing and replacing at this stage?

I'd say do it yourself if you have the space, time and tools (or get your hands on a basic toolkit). Removing the turbo is pretty easy, and replacing it when you get it back isn't much harder, if at all...

There are some fiddly bits and some tight gaps, and a digital camera will come in handy if you think you'll forget where stuff goes, but it's all good and helps you learn. And if you don't have to pay someone to do it, as well as store the car in the mean time, then it's money in your pocket which can be later spent on more bits or further tuning... ;)

Or maybe, if you mean "workshop" as in dedicated area where you can do the work yourself, then you can just ignore me and carry on as above...

Yep to an actuall workshop... Dont have enough time really to do it myself, and they will be installing the IEBC, DFA and a Mixture Display as well

Are you going to fork out $150 for a Fuel Pressure Regulator?

Or injectors?

Youve got the exhaust(?), GTT 'cooler, & the new bits, all tuned together.

What power output are you expecting?

Id imagine with a FPR you'd be able to reach 180awkw at ~14psi fairly steadily.......

1. With the two settings, Probably 10 psi and 15psi

3. Yep, So Fuji Catback, IEBC, DFA, GTT Cooler, HKS Panel. I'm expecting once tuned to reach the 180awkw mark as you said. Then add the FPR, GTR Fuel Pump and a Split dump pipe.... Should reach the magic 200awkw. Which is where it shall stay :D

how much are they charging you to install and calibrate the IEBC, DFA and mixture display?

(...mixture display, is that like an air / fuel ration gauge?)

    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.

    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
    • Just one thing; tapping tapered threads is tricky. Taps are always tapered and you would generally run it as far as you can, but with a tapered thread you have to stop much sooner otherwise the wide part of the taper will run in too far and you will have to thread the sensor in too far too as well (possible that it will never make a good seal) BTW nice wide wheels, I guess the top one is for the back!
    • Welp, good to know. Will have to wait awhile until steady hands with drills and taps are available. In other news, these just arrived! I will weigh them for posterity. Edit: 11kg each (or 10.9/11.1 depending on what my scale decides over multiple tests, the 18x11 don't seem to weigh noticeably any more than 10.5)
