Hi,

I had a chat to a friend and showed him this thread. He has confirmed that it's a Volvo (S Series to be more precise).

A couple of things that give it away:

In this photo take note of the seat, then check out this photo of the current S50 ( http://www.volvocars.com.au/NR/rdonlyres/2..._604x314_08.jpg ) they have the same style seats.

Then, in this shot:

You can see that the external mirrors are the same as this:

And lastly, in that same photo above you can see the bonnet ridges are covered up by the car bra.

no its the new ve commo, just look at the door handles they are total the wrong style for volvo..........

tey are making the new handles the same style as the magna, and i know this cause we are makin them too

they have fitted a mock up gto front end to desguise the apperance of the car

My source of information is quite credible.

I know for certain that it's not a VE Commodore, my source actually has direct involvement with prototype testing.

Its the New GTR!!

Jesus haha its bloody obvious its the new VE why would Volvo go to all the trouble to cover up their cars in oz in broken hill of all places?

Everybody that thinks its a volvo or camry or what ever is being sucked into thinking its a euro car, which is what they wanted by putting euro plates on it with BMW style front nose and LHD.

Unfortunately that's not the case.

Anyone can actually purchase Euro plates, so it's not really that hard to do.

The car isn't actually driven by anyone directly associated with Volvo.

The prototype vehicles are driven by people who specialize in the field of prototype testing and it's their obligation not to leave the car in a place that can be seen for extended periods of time. Obviously something they neglected to do when the photo was taken.

Prior to releasing vehicles in Australia, overseas manufacturers go to great lengths to test them in harsh Australian conditions, so it's no surprise that it has been via Broken Hill.

Either way, I can confirm that it's _not_ a VE Commodore.

i'm with him as i first stated

;)

cheers

i doubt its a volvo, it looks more like a commo. the rear lights are rounded like the current VZ; the light isnt grooved like the volvo as every1 makes it out to be, its only the fake plastic cover giving it the volvo headlight look.

VE has my vote! I think its a VE, well will jsut have to wait for this pic to end up in a magazine with a proper right up, so we can put this debate to rest. I think the shape of the boot and the rear tail lights are very commodorey.

Thats my 2cents worth

    • Ok, just the way you wrote it made it look like you had the stagger the wrong way around
    • I was getting anxious with the DVLA not knowing if the paperwork is fine or not, so I rang them. No update had been given, but I  was reassured that providing the box was ticked on the V750 then the application will go through fine. I've been checking the DVLA website pretty much every day, in the hope that it would have been done. Fast forward to Monday 29th  and I was greeted with a new screen on the check, and it finally showed as Taxed and MOT'd, woohoo! The car was in desperate need of a clean, not knowing when this day was coming it was put off. As far as I was concerned I had another 3 weeks  I'm not normally one for using snow foam, but I wanted to give it another try It hasn't cleaned up too bad considering it's 21 years old and lived on a boat for a number of weeks. The personalised number plate is J2 XBK, an illegally spaced number plate would have it read J2X BK. BK could either represent  the colour black or Baker, which is my surname. I filmed the first drive, the Youtube link will be at the end. I used the same driving route I did with the 323F V6 when I had a new exhaust installed, heres a couple of photos A few more since then Youtube video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjkFHPzjGDw
    • Thank you, 100% the intent. New coils were due and the 17" sixers look/feel loads better than the stock wheels. The aero options are so spot on.   Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
