I purchased a Nismo blank key from a Japanese website. I specified in my order that this key was for an R33 skyline. They sent me the blank for an R34. They have refused to exchange the item, even when I offered to pay all the postage.

Considering this was their mistake I think it's pretty unethical! :)

Does anyone know if there is any government agency I could complain to (considering the company in question is in Japan)???

I have considered ringing the Japanese embasy (or what ever they have) to see if they could offer any solutions.

If anyone wants the name of the place PM me.

I got their details from an ad in fastfours so I've told them what I thought of the company!

The Nismo blank keys are ONLY for R32 & R33s. They cant make them for R34s as each key has a code built in for the immobilizer.

So unless they sent you a key that looks nothing like the one below then you have not been ripped off!

1st of all the blank doesn't fit in any of my locks (it's wider than the original key)

several of the locksmiths I have been to have told me it should if it's the correct blank.

2nd. It doesn't have a gutter and the original does.

3rd. on the back of the box it lists the models it's for and it lists R34, S15 etc. but not R33.

Anyone who wants to buy it, it's on ebay here:

I have no idea if the key fits a ER34 but it sure as hell doenst fit the BNR34!

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
