The early Q45's tend to suffer from this too. Have you tried cleaning it? Put dielectic grease on the connector?

Checked to see if the connector is on snug?

I cleaned mine with CO CONTACT CLEANER, but any electrical parts cleaner that leaves no residue will do the job just as well. Also, If you use a pod filter, whch requires oiling (K&N), the oil can actually coat the filament in the sensor, and cause it to act like it's dying.

Get a can of electrical parts cleaner from just about any Auto parts store, and clean it!

CHeers for that, really, CO contact cleaner = miracle worker! hosed the crap out of the sensor as it was thickly coated in grease, then hosed the connectors. i did notice that the connector didn't click when i put it back on, so it may be a little loose. all looks good, although i shouldn't speak to soon. took the car for a 20 min drive no issues. see how it goes to work tommorrow. but looks like im back in.

No probs... Glad to help :turned:

And saved you spending plenty of moulah on a new MAF !

PS, I should have posted this first... but you got it working OK anyway...

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
