Great explanation guys. Makes a lot more sense now. So it's all about the huffing/puffing action then?

You see I wasn't much of a car enthusiast and my hobby had been writing programs, etc. Now that my hobby is my day job, I've gotten into cars. A late bloomer, but always willing to learn. Here in Fiji, there's not too man people you can learn from, so I have revert to this group.

Everyone has missed the other way to tell..

There should also be a boost gauge in the centre console if i'm correct..

It should have a -7 0 +7 measurement on it.. +7 being about 13.6PSI as it's in x100 something something's.. can't rememeber

anyways.. have a bit of a read up on how turbo's work..

for a turbo to produces positive boost it has to spin up to 40,000+ rpm which is done by the exhaust gases of the car..

once it's spooled up (can take a bit of time, that's called LAG) it'll start producing positive boost.. that's when the needle goes over 0..

at higher RPM exhaust gasses flow @ a higher volume & therefore car will come on boost much quicker..

@ low RPM it takes time to spool up.. accelerate in 3rd from about 1000rpm and watch how long it takes to spool up..

enjoy..

I'm now under the impression that he knows what boost is and how to measure it.

he had a few questions in there which were not really obvious.

1.) what is the boost measured in?

2.) what is it in PSI?

3.) why is the part below not measured the same as abvoe the line?

4.) whay is the part below the 0 in different scale not just different measurements.

Sorry guys,

My car is boosting so much and drinking so much petrol, I'd be considered rich if I had any spare change left after every refuel. I'd actually be able to feed myself with that spare change. So air tickets and free meals for you fine gentlemen and your g/f's will have to wait a little bit longer.

I have though fully grasped the idea behind the workings of my boost guage and am thankful to you all.

But if any of you ever come down to this fine country on your own expense, then do let me know and I'd be happy to get together for a couple cold ones.

Because the stock gauges are "really" accurate...

not :P

Hi Fella's,

How do I check/determine what am I currently boosting at? The only tool I have is a Turbo guage as pictured below.

107031665_e83f39a371_m.jpg

I drive an R34 GTT - RB25DET.

Hey,

I noticed you have a GTR lip on the front bar of your R34.

Any recomendations where I can get one from?

Could you also let me know how many klm's you get out of a tank on average?

I have had mine for 2 weeks or so and get under 300k's which is not very pleasing given I dont drive it very hard at all ;-(

Hi paulsid,

I don't see any GTR lip on my car. Is this the car you're talking about?

http://static.flickr.com/28/35179278_4a7d91b414.jpg?v=0

As for the mileage. I get about 400 - 420 k's for highway driving and between 300 and 380 for city driving. Lately it's been giving me lower figures which leads me to conclude that my Lambda sensor is probably buggered. The guys at www.lambdasensor.com will only ship to anywhere in Europe. I am talking to a guy in Japan so hopefully I'll get something positive from him.

Under 300 k's; yep I've gotten that a couple of times, city driving. Happens if I'm stuck in heavy traffic.

i have the solution to all of your problems...

i have an Autometer Boost Guage here, that reads in PSI instead of BAR, that i am happy to let you have in exchange for your Blitz guage... then it kills 2 birds with 1 stone! (I want one in BAR, and you want one you can read in PSI)

Yes the lip on the bottom of your front bar is not stock. Is worth around $300

Hmmm... had no idea it wasn't stock. I presumed it was factory fitted.

Infact, I bought car as it was, not knowing a whole of the mods that it had been through. All I had known were the after market air intake, exhaust, etc. The body kit was quoted as factory standard option.

not to mention comparing autometer to Blitz is like comparing apples and medium-well eye fillet steak with mushroom sauce with cracked pepper served with golden roast potatoes followed by sticky date pudding for desert..

I'm gonna go eat breakfast.

You sound like a hungry man!! rofl..

oh, btw, that far left peddle is of no importance whatsoever, Ive found that even without that peddle the R25det's drive just fine, in fact even better in city traffic!! you should try it sometime.

:D

    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
