Gotta luv the ol' Datto. Q:Why not RB20 or SR20 engine tho?

For me (on topic now), a keeper car will be a Skyline with Rb engine, of some sorts. I know my Stagea isnt a 'real' skyline, but it really is kinda from the same family.

I reckon in the long term we'll still have the Stagea as a family wagon, and a R34 of some sort (if 2 door it'd have to be GTR RB26, if 4 door then a GTT tiptronic).

I saw that you mentioned the Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III....

unless you have 100s of 1000s of $$$$ to spend, forget it.....

These sell, in average condition, for $100,000+

Perhaps a neat XW GT Falcon would be a better option. It will be only time before they crack the big $$$ like the XY model.....

Would have been referring to a replica gtho, just an XY falcon with GTHO components to give it the same look. Probably fit a twin-turbocharged 1UZ-FE under the hood... God knows there's plenty of room!!! :(

Keeper for me would be an audi quattro proper1

20000 at the moment and they were the car that started the rally awd craz and are a euro colt car like the skyline in japan and here

or a ke awd and get it to 10sec1/4

If I were to build a "toy" car that I'd own and slowly work on (assuming I have access to a daily driver) that I wasn't going to build into a track weapon, I'd probably build a Volvo P1800 with an RB25DE or RB30DE in it, or perhaps even an old M3 engine.

I want the engine to have the howl of a nice NA inline 6. I don't want flutter or BOV, and I'm not after the power. Even with all the chassis bracing I'm going to have to do the vehicle will be relatively light, and its not a racer. Its a good looking cruiser with a nice sounding motor.

Interior wise I'd leave stockish. If I replace stuff, I'd get stuff that looks like it belongs in a car of that period.

Under the skin, I'd try getting the suspension to handle as well as possible but there's only so much you can do on a budget with such an old car.

I doubt the RB would fit without firewall modification... Sr20's are a fairly common swap.

Would like to make it period 80's stylin.. And have it set up for motorkana's and hill climbs.. Plus some light drift work

    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
    • That's my life. Past-Duncan has a lot to answer for
    • Yep four point harness. Mounted to a bolted in brace running behind the seats. Dont use it for daily driving tbh but good to have for when its needed plus it looks cool.
    • I had to double check the thread title r34 gtt offset advice lol. Thought maybe i posted on the wrong thread. 😂
