I think you're still looking around the 1100 - 1300 dollar mark.

I get the feeling though that some time in the future sony may release a fully software emulation of the ps2 hardware for ps3. And then you won't need to get a 60gig. Thats just a bit of an eduated guess.

so its true you cant play ps2 games on a 40gb ps3  i thought that sounded fishy but hey we are talking about sony

query:

Q6600 @ 3.60 ghz (2.4 stock) G0 stepping model

2900xt (two-off) with coolermaster glacier-600 water cooling

thermaltake bigwater 735

70degrees core 0, 69 core 1, 67 core 2, 66 core 3

on full load

is that too hot?

bearing in mind the graphics cards idle at 49degrees

runs at 47-44deg on idle

pump - cpu - pcie - pcie - radiator - reservoir - pump

had a nth bridge water block as well, but not on atm

might have to refit it along with the double radiator - just that the extra radiator has to sit outside the case :)

Yeah man that is WAY too hot for a water cooling system. I would turn your voltage down a tad - but you may have to lower your fsb too. What voltage are you currently running? I would think around 3.8v, which is probably too hot. Your CPU won't have too longer life at that rate. 44 degrees is way too hot at idle too.

Should not even be that hot with a really good heatsink and fan.

Put more case fans in and get more air flow will cool it down heaps. I have 2 x intake and 2 x outlet fans, plus the CPU, VGA card and dual PSU fans. There is no such things as too much air movement. Is the fan working properly on your radiator? I think it may not be - that would be your problem.

yeah thought so

better rejig it and add the external double radiator/fan system (its a 745 system, but only setup the small single radiator)

:)

the 2900xt's used to see 100degrees on air (stock) on load, so the water has brought them down by 35degrees

    • I love the early SL500's, they look sleek Give it a good service, throw on a exhaust, and roll like a boss I'd get a nice old SL500 before a 25GT
    • Ooohhh I see. I guess that makes sense also. Hey also just a like opinion based question, I've been recently considering getting a SL500 R230 bc my younger sister wants me to drive one (she rlly wants me to flex on her high schooler friends lmfao). However to be honest ive been kind of against the idea is the SL500 for one reason - not very fuel efficient. I understand I probably have the funds to be able to drive this car daily but it kind of pains me that id still have to spend more money on gas compared to like a 25GT or smth. Idk if I should get an SL500 or whether to js go all in on the JDM lifestyle. If I do buy an SL500 I'll probably modify it to a minor degree. (idk slap a turbo/supercharger and a ecu revamp).
    • The other reason why I say this is because if you lose the motivation to mess with this stuff, at least if you can get the car back together and fixed up better than it came to you usually you can sell it for more than you paid. Skylines in that regard it's pretty rare for anyone to actually come out ahead.
    • Yeah I get the appeal of trying to fix up a broken car and seeing it run once again. Honestly might follow that advice since I know someone who has a broken down m328i and isn't bothered to fix it lol. Its probably a good idea to get a slighter newer car such as like a 400r since my parents are worried ill crash and die lmao (I probably won't but hey I understand why)
    • Some people love to enjoy the car, and that's the love. Others prefer being covered in dirt, oil, grease, sweat, and cuts and scratches instead of getting to drive the car. 😛
