lol, like the old Celeron 300 to 450

I still remember my old Cyrix P166 that used to blow Pentium 150's away

mmmmmm celeron 300A still one of the best over clockers for it's time.. staggering. . especially when your running two of them.. 1200mhz when most could only get 400..

Those chips were well.. awesome

Cyrix the poor mans intel?? Then Winchip was the hobo's cyrix lol

ROFL

to the age old debate

>>Mac or PC<< much lolz to be had

That was always really simple ... you'd ask the customer if they could use a computer.. if they look blankly or quickly reply no.. sell them a mac.

It's only the software thats diff now days.... not anti competitive on MS behalf at all lol

I don't know too much about the Compros, but have just been researching the Leadtek 3200 myself and it looks the goods.

Hardware decoding, Ulead Video Studio 10 included and is only $100 from MSY. BARGAIN!

I am buying one for my upgrade.

I had a feeling my video drivers were doing something funny when I was getting some jerkiness in busy scenes in Left 4 Dead, so I uninstalled my recently downloaded ATi non-Catalyst driver, downloaded the latest driver with Catalyst (to manage my dual monitor setup), and lo and behold my CS stress test has gone from 119fps to 203fps. I had a feeling when I got my 3850 that it was at around 200fps. It barely seems worth the upgrade to a 4850, but while I have my rig in pieces and am reinstalling Win, I might as well do the upgrade and futureproof.

Hey Steve - what exactly happens in win7 when you play a Punkbuster game? I take it that Win7 lets you install Steam?

Luke - we need to catch up for me to grab both isos of Win7. I already have keys. Any chance of putting them on a DVD(S) and chucking them in your car or something and I will give you a call in the next few days

yeah im with Luke and Andrew go Leadtek

if you want 2 channels at once get the 3200 and the 1000 for that pip

Andrew - Win7 lets you install 99% of everything and the things it has failed to are usually drivers written for XP, no issues with steam as there is no association with PB however if a steam game uses PB the you will have issues (thank you punkbuster for not showing support)

there is very good support from ATI in windows 7 and 70fps is a good upgrade over the current 203  and the 4850 will play crysis better and fear 2, have you played the fear to SP demo pretty intensive

i currently have Luke's Win7 disc shall i take it round to him after work Luke

+1 Leadtek

I had a Compro E700 and not impressed at all.... shit drivers + shit software!

yeah i got the 750. pretty shit. doesnt work with mediaportal

billed as a dual tuner but not - it just lets you watch two instances from the same channel (abc and abc2)

What ADSL router does everyone use?

I'm looking at getting a Billion 7404VGPX router, but have heard the N wireless standard is coming big... although, it's only JUST a standard at the moment, it might need more perfecting before it's released mainstream? I'm always a bit wary of buying bleeding-edge hardware.

I just need something that can handle ADSL1, Wireless, 4 port switch, 3G capable, VPN capable... and that's about it.

At the mo I'm borrowing a mates D-Link little old school thing, so I need my own!

I use an old NetComm modem router but they're all pretty much the same from what I've seen and I don't know too much about the new N wireless. I think if you stick with the likes of Billion, Belkin, DLink you shouldn't have any issues..... The only one I ever had an issue with was wireless Linksys pile of shit....!

Cronic i just have an old netgear wireless router, 4 port, does adsl 2+, works great in our fairly large home. I have my computer and my fathers hooked up with ethernet cable, and my brother, the ps3, and xbox360 are all connected wirelessly throughout the house and it works perfect. I don't think you can go to wrong with most of the big brands out there nowadays, and my wireless router would be at least 4 or so years old now.

Now my question

I'm due a new laptop at work, so are there any suggestions?

Has to be portable enough to be easily carried on planes as i fly a fair bit, but it also will be my main pc in the office, at the moment i just plug in a proper mouse when at work.

Will be used for general office work, excel, powerpoint, word, etc, etc, there will also be some light photoshop duties, and being able to watch video's and play basic games is important too, it's not used for gaming but when testing at work it will be good to have something half decent to try stuff on. I'm interested in this vaio Linky but would like to hear opinions. Price isn't really an issue but i'm sure my boss would prefer under 3 grand.

Fire away!!

    • The incentives are mostly the same, yes. Ethanol is cheap compared to the cost of doing 98-100 RON with crude oil alone. 87 to 93-94 AKI all with E10. In 2020 Canada mandated E10 as a part of their "renewable fuel standard" and is supposedly going to go to E15 in 2030. In California where there are only 8 refineries with two threatening to shut down next year it's been over 20 years now of E10 and 91 AKI maximum because there's just not enough refinery capacity or crude oil supply relative to the demand for premium unleaded fuel. And CARB's low carbon fuel standard means functionally none of the diesel available at the pump is made from crude oil anymore. It's almost all entirely 20% biodiesel blended with 80% renewable diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) now. The number of gasoline vehicles that support E15 or higher ethanol concentrations is surprisingly low, I can't imagine it being wise to play tricks like this without flex fuel sensors in most of the fleet.
    • It's almost certainly the same as the one next to it. • South Australia, which is hardly as far behind as the rest pf Oz makes out, and who is also not a paragon of progressiveness (read that as over-legislation) in the area of vehicle standards, has this to say on the subject: Adjustable coil-over suspension Aftermarket adjustable coil-over suspension components are suspension units that incorporate an external thread on the main body and corresponding threaded spring saddle that allows the vehicle's suspension height to be varied. If fitting aftermarket or coil-over suspension components you must submit an Application to modify a light motor vehicle form and a report from a light vehicle engineering signatory (LVES).
    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
