Exhaust

I know this is probab a common question but what would a 3" exhaust from the cat back roughly cost for a R33 and is this what I should get. I dont give a shit about brand names or noise....just performance.

Heres a hard decision. Should I fork out for the exhaust, or get some nice rims and tyres first. decisions, decisions....

Yes but without a bigger cat , either hiflow ( yes I know rev210 )or some larger flanges it is probably going to be a minimal performance gain.

I believe there is good gains to be made from a quality dump off the turbo.

I would suggest saving up and getting it all done at once.

Doing it bit by bit will invariably cost more because some stuff will have to be done again ( placing on the hoist , removing pipes , replacing gaskets etc )

Depends where you go , Stainless or mild steel , mandrel or press bent, Tig welded or mig, show quality or whatever.

Confused you enough yet??

Search some past recent threads in the W A section re. exactly the same thing.

Cheers

For a non-brand name system, then your looking at about $1400 for a complete system, but shop around and you can save yourself some money.

I have just made my system very hiflow, and the car feels the better for it. Definately do it all at once, just keep saving your money.

I have an jap made apexi N1 system (its not an apexi and doesnt wear the same price tag) Jeff Ash from c-red can organise one for you, about $1k from the cat back. I've taken beeble for a drive and he reckons they are tops as. Good looking unit and the in car noise is quite minimal, plus you should pickup around 15kw at the wheels. Rev210 went to quickfit exhausts in morley and they did a dump+front pipe for around $400, so once thats all on expect maybe a 20kw @ wheels gain, plus a tad more boost.

I need some help with my exhaust parts.

I have a cat-back (i think) kakimoto exhaust seen here:

http://www.perfectrun.com.au/performance%2...fflerRslash.htm

You can see the 2 bits there, they are both joined, so i have 2 mufflers.

Then the pipe goes to the a little round thing where it appears the o2 sensor is (I dunno what its called) and then it goes to the turbo.

I want to put the front pipe + cat shown here

http://radium.highway1.com.au/parts/

Do you guys think it will fit, work and make a difference?

Cat? That looks like a cat remover to me:p

It won't necessarily fit, but could be easily joined by any of the local exhaust shops. I would remove the centre muffler to give it better flow and better noise. It will definately make a difference.

unless you buy a completely stock car, alot of tyhe imports have these small mods done to them, exhaust, rims, pod filter etc. i bought mine when it had been modified to all hell and although a few parts have broken or fallen off the value cannot be argued. my cars got an apexi N1 with 3" off the turbo and 4" cat back, very nice exhaust.

    • The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf
    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
    • Does the scanner do all the CUs in the car, or only the ECU?
    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
