Gotta replace my afm and a couple of coils, nothing major.

My mechanic quoted me $500 to replace my afm, i was like 'what the....?'

That's ridiculous i am changing mechanics! Had it serviced 4 weeks ago, they changed a couple of o-rings in the gearbox and now it leaks even more. They replaced a headlight globe, then didn't re-adjust the beam. its only small things i know but if you do a job right, then do a job right!

Yeah i have heard good things about Boost Worx and Graham West, will have to try there next time!

Thanks Guys

Give boostworx a try, they're currently doing all of my wiring, etc - and I'm very impressed with shauns attitude and work ethic. Their pricing seems very reasonable compared to some of the so called other "performance workshops" in adelaide.

Are you replacing the AFM with an item you are supplying, or was the workshop going to supply the afm in that quoted price?

No they were supplying the afm, 2nd hand original or new after-market, still they go for 250-300. I got 2nd hand from Adelaide Jap Dismantlers $195. After market = $290 new. Thats at least $200 labour for changing the plug! I can almost get a lock-bar for that.

well Adam, if you need to use my AFM for a while longer, then thats no probs mate.....!

start searching the for sale thread I reckon!

or make me an offer for it - I guess I wont need it in the future!

sent you a pm.

I go to John Keen at Hi-tech Dyno Tune on south road.

No complaints.

yeah went there to get my boost controller fitted and dyno tuned, great service but does he do mechanical stuff too or just tunes and mods?

Definatly give Shaun a call @ Boostworx, He fitted my Z32 and fuel pump, cant quite remember how much but i think it was about $80-100 for the AFM fitted, then about the same for Fuel Pump.

Graham West and John Keen @ Hi tech is also good so i've heard. He is one of 3 brothers Bill @ ATS and the other brother is Turbo Tune(where John used to work) but havn't heard to many good things about TT!

Im in the middle of getting a heap of Whiteline suspension goodies for my Stagea.

Received today the front and rear fully adjustable 24mm thick swaybars, and the front castor kit.

Im also going to order a sub-frame alignment kit and the full front and rear Bilstein shocks (using standard springs, with no camber change), probably after next fridays payday.

Going to ask around places for how much for install (I could do the swaybars but probably not the rest).

Anyone have any suggestions?

My first point of call will be Pedders at Morphett vale (near my house) - has anyone got some suspension places they'd recommend to install some of these parts?

Cheers in advance.

Brendan

Been taking my car down to Scott at AVS Suspension on south road.

He and his old man run the shop; friendly bunch and pretty good prices.

another vote to Shaun @ Boostworx

Brendan:

i got a friend who used to work in ASE, he now has his own business which is a mobile workshop (van)

he did my s15's suspension, don't think any workshop can match his price

His name is Ryan and u can contact him @ 0433 149 727

    • Is anyone running these axles? R32, R33, R34 GTR front Axles. shafts itself rated 950hp. Suit all RB26 engines Croydon, Melbourne, Victoria Would be nice to pay half the cost of Driveshaft Shop Axles. I'm building an AWD S13 Coupe that is very low ride height (high cv angle) compared to stock R32. Has an RB30 with appx 600whp. Just looking for feedback. • Been a long time since r31 got some love, my brother dropped a shitbox ls1 crapadore in my lap to fix up.  Put a wiper motor in as the flooded one was no longer alive.  got windscreen wipers now. Time to clean respray and install back in the titanic  IMG_0505.mov
    • Nah its a server spammer thing  Although, now that I manually approve all the accounts I can probably loosen up some of the restrictions.
    • Thread bump, again! Although, no bad news this time. Posting for the sake of possible root cause. Basically, I rebuilt it (mostly stock), installed Haltech + sensors, had it running fine on new ECU.  Still not really understanding why it cracked pistons last time. Got to tuners, and while checking timing, noticed +-10deg of timing scatter while revving. Changed CAS, and it was rock solid. While not definitive, can't imagine seeing 20+ psi with that amount of scatter would be a good thing. Also glad I found something.   Bit more of a run down; Carried out a stock rebuild, a set of stock pistons, out of a spare bottom end. Everything stock apart from head studs and oil restrictors. (so I can pretend I didn't let the Nissan out, ha.) Armed with the measuring gear and FSM, set about doing overhaul. Oil restrictors as per oil control thread for a RB25, stock oil pump, drifting. Head drain/vent from rear of head, to passenger side of sump above oil level. Two dash 10 vent lines from drivers side of sump (unused atm) Hi octane style cam cover breather kit Splash covers over last 2 cam caps. Both breather lines from cam covers to vented to atmosphere catch can, not plumbed back into sump (wanted to see what it was actually breathing). Got it run in (did about a 1000km) no to low boost scenario, As I had questions over old ECU setup. Installed haltech +sensors for flex Retune on E85 (finding CAS Issue along the way), made 300rwkw at 20psi, out of wastegate. Did a drift day the next day (yes, it was a big weekend!) and was checking catch can throughout the day, ZERO blowby. I mean nothing. Lines from cam covers are not even wet. Done a bunch of street driving, spirited and catch can is still dry. Early days I guess, but pretty happy so far. Also now run 10w60, up from the 10w40 that I used to run. Oil pressure is significantly better, especially when hot (as you would expect)
