Have been getting only 20 miles / gallon from my 93 r33 gts-t 4door auto. Has new NGK Iridium plugs and I use BP Ultra and 10 pounds boost.

Bought the car and had them up the boost to 10lb b/4 I took possession of it, so I don't know what the fuel economy was b/4.

Many people on the net say they get between 26-30 mpg so I was a little concerned. Had a mate of mine who works for one of the Nissan dealers check it out and all the data came up ok.

He said that it must be a combination of being an auto, the upped boost and a bit of a lead foot that is contributing to the low fuel economy.

Just interested to know what some of you guys are getting economy wise.

Thanx

Ric

I have no concept of how good or bad 20mpg is. I don't even know how to do the conversion.

My car gets 14-16L/100km around town (usually just under 15) when running at 0.8 bar boost. At 1 bar it is usually just over 15. I am experimenting with a tankful on 0.6 bar to see how much fuel I'll save, if I gain another litre/100km I will set it to 0.6 when I'm low on cash and need to save money on fuel :D (I love EBC's!)

On the highway I get 9.5L/100km on .8 bar and 10.5L/100km on 1 bar. Keep in mind that this is with a lot of spirited overtaking. It's the main thing that keeps me awake!

Man I hate this L/100km crap, makes it really hard to work out how far you can go on one tank on fuel. Sod it, I'm going to start doing kilometres per litre too, starting right now.

14L/100km = 7.14km/L = 428km per tank (fill up around or before 400km)

15L/100km = 6.67km/L = 400km (fill up ~370)

16L/100km = 6.25km/L = 375km (fill up ~345)

9.5L/100km = 10.53km/L = 631km (fill up ~600)

10.5L/100km = 9.52km/L = 571km (fill up ~540)

If I had been working off kilometres per litre instead of this stupid L/100km crap I could have saved myself from a huge stuff-up in refill planning on a recent holiday trip up north. I wasn't sure if I had enough fuel to make it to the next available servo on a round trip while in the area and ended up running around for an extra 60km that I later discovered I didn't have to (long story).

Thanx guys, I guess it must be my fault that this cars is an gas-a-holic.

I deal with metric measurement all day in my work and also relate things back to imperial often, but this litres/100 km has always pissed me off.

My daughters boyfriend is only 21 years old and knows perfectly well what miles/ gallon is.

Thanx again

how did u get 9.5/100km??  long highway drivin??

Actually, it was my gf taking the car up north from Sydney to Taree (about 300km) to visit relatives, then back again. Worked out to be 9.5L/100km when I did the mileage when she got back. We both then travelled back up the same day (she had to come back to Sydney for a job interview) and I decided to experiment with the boost pressure and set it to 1 bar.

I got 10.6L/100km for the trip up, and 10.4L/100km for the trip back. It was slightly worse on the way up because we had a little bit of city traffic to get out of before hitting the highway.

I guess I should have kept my mouth shut. Some of you guys are doing worse than me . Last fill up was 320km from 45litres, around 20MPG

Realisticly, I shouldn't complain as my Bedford van (work van) with a 400 Chev gets around 12 MPG. It carries a fair bit of weight though.

    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
    • It's been quite the ordeal but hey, at least you figured it out.
    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
