hey guys,

i have just had my 100k service done, and atm one of the belts is screeching on start up until i give it a rev and it goes away. now i havent had a chance to get back to the mechanics due to work commitments, but i will be as soon as i get a chance. today i went to turn on my aircon and it didnt work at all, no air comes through the vents nomatter what speed u have the fan on. so i tried just normal fan and still nothing. i was wondering if this would be related to the belt slipping problem or totally different problem. it's not the aircon gas run out bcoz the normal air would have still been flowing through when i put the fan on. any ideas before i go to the mechanics?? or even the auto elect.

cheers daz.

Alternator belt? Had the same thing when I took off my alternator to replace it. When I put it back in and started the car, it was screeching and making a hell of a lot of sound. Just tightened it up more and it went away. This would probably have NOTHING to do with the aircon however, perhaps check all the belts, see if they are loose?

the fan that blows air is electric ..... it has nothing to do with the belt

check your fuses .,....

if you can here a fan noise but have no air coming out then .... a few things can happen to stop the air flow .... the ducting is detached or your fan is spining backwards :D

yeah when u press the aircon button, u can hear the compressor turn on but no air comes out, im pretty sure it mite be a fuse for the a/c. and the belt has been tightened now, i didnt think that was the problem for the aircon not working, but it mite have been, so i thought id ask anyway. il see how i go....and il write back in here, its hard when i havent got much time between work to do stuff, but il try.

if your A/C is blowing hot air and sensor's seem ok my guess its your A/c relay!!

happened to me bout a month ago.

to test go to black box in the engine bay where jump points are swap A/C relay for fan relay if A/C starts working there is your problem!!

oh nissan dealership spare parts tryed to charge me $110.90 WTF hahah

i laughed in her face

then went to a wrecker and payed $10

A/C works mint now

well, after dropping my car off at my mates auto electric shop today the traced it back to being what they called the "FAN SPEED CONTROLLER" module. its located behind the glove box, so u have to remove your glove box and it will be in there towards the white plastic bit on the right side.

it will look like this.....

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
