Hi fellas

I am thinking of buying a second car next to my beloved skyline. Even though i like nissans and have had almost every sports model appart from r34 gtr, forgive for betrayal but must say that i have always liked GTO TT.I have heard sh..t load os stories of them being slow heavy, unrelaible etc etc.Yusterday i took a 94 model TT for a test drive.i MUST SAY THAT I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THE PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING OF A BIG WHALE AND AM CONSIDERING OF BUYING IT.It has every single electronical bit in it plus launches so hard that i could not believe.I have done alot of research and alot of that has led me to believe that they are quite reliable.I would definatelly like to hear your thougts about this particular car .

altho the gto's are fine looken machines i must admit. If i was in the market for a car, had the dough it would be a consideration ...

although what was mentioned, i dont know what they are like for reliability, that would be my main concern, you dont see many on the roads, so thats a good thing, and also bad thing in the same sence ...

A fellow I work with who is a mad oldschool revhead (Also Has a 265 Charger and a Javelin along with a BMW 635CSi) has recently turned his attention towards imports, and has gone and bought an Australian delivered Mitsubishi 3000GT, he's completely in love with the car, althought I think it's becoming apparent that it's quite hard to get bits for it. He's tried to get a set of mags for it, he did find some but it seems that they're one of those cars that are really hard to get bits for. Thing is, these cars are huge in the US, so if you're patient and don't mind dishing a bit extra for shipping there's a world of parts over there for 300GT's/GTO's.

BUT.... if you need to replace the calipers, it looks like they run identical Sumitomo's to R33 GTS-25t's/R32 GT-R's :thumbsup:

In the US, they also had a car that was built by I (think!!!) dodge, so that would help a lot with parts. I know there are quite a few, still fairly rare but more than here.

From memory they are a bit like the mitsu version of a 300zx, not a car you would go out of your way to buy to modify to go fast. Having said that there is a quick one up here in Brissy, and it just left us for dead in a car that should have stuck next to a stock one easy.

As everyone else has said tho. AWESOME cars, its got everything you need then some.

3000GTs. Always have been and always will be one of my Favourite Japanese sports cars. Most underated car around. So yeah they blow gearboxes, so do R32s and S13/14/15s but people still drive em.

Ive always wanted one, probably will get one some day as well, just pure supercar looks.

I test drove a 94 Model Twin turbo manual, and seriously I was blown away. Ive owned 3 12 second cars, and this 3000gt felt like it had so much grunt , yet was completely standard. Saying they are quick is a understatement.

Handling wise, it was razor sharp, responsive, power came on so linearly all the way from down low right up to redline.

Car journalists, mitsu haters and soforth have run this car into the ground in reviews and so forth. I cant understand why. In the US and europe, there are plenty of em that are modded and make monstrous power.

Personally Id love a Black 98 model VR4, 20 Inch Work Deep dish, twin TD06-20G, Engine management and aftermarket gearbox. GTR destroyer.

I love the GTO - Gran Turismo got me hooked on them and ive wanted one since.

However, true to popular believe, when i looked into importing one i was told to not go near them as they are so hard to get parts for. One major importer in Sydney told me i'd be looking at $4000 - $5000 for a new bonnet if i ever had an accident.

No thanks... But hey you only live once, if you can get insurance on it, go for gold!!

I own a 90 model, TT, GTO. They are super quick in a straight line, they handle pretty good considering how heavy they are....although everyone is right about parts and repairs. If something goes it ain't gonna be cheap to fix. Other than that, they look classy and are pretty rare. One thing i hated was the pop-up lights, so i bought one that had them changed! It also had a series 2 back :yes:

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!

    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
