Hi Guys/Girls,

Item: Garrett GT2860r x2 Part Number 707160-7 (HKS GT-SS equiv specs) SOLD to SUMO BNR32

Condition: Perfect, only 4 days on the car. See pictures only taken a few minutes ago.

Reason For Sale: I was originally building an RB26, but am now building an RB30, so I need bigger ones!

Cost: $2400

(these are about $2900 to replace depending on where you go)

e.g. http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/category12_1.htm

Item: Tomei Sump Baffle Kit SOLD to [WLDCRD]

Condition: Brand Spankin!

Reason For Sale: I have the sickness.. and so I am going for a Performance MetalCraft one instead.

Cost: $210

I bought these turbos because I wanted a fast response street car with a bit of track/club stuff in there as well. I think they are perfect for the job. However, after being on the car for only 4 days, the number 2 Piston's ringland went. The engine has been stripped down and so now I have decided to build an RB30 and these turbos are a little small for that application.

I have had the turbos checked out at TurboTech and I even have the VSR Balance sheet to show they are micky mouse. The turbos are more or less brand new and were run on Redline fully synthetic.

At the same time, I am going to the 8Litre Performance Metalcraft sump, so don't need the Tomie insert anymore.

(Also - had the actuators set to 15psi on each turbo)

Be good if this were Perth Pickup, but I can freight if need be,

Cheers,

Matt.

The Tomei sump is sold guys,

Turbo's still up for sale, and I can arrange freight for free.

These are genuinely brand new - run on the car for only 4 days, and $400-$500 less than what you'll pay for a new pair.

hi mate, was jus wonderin which model is it? u have written..."707160-7" but all the traders advertise either "707160-5" or "707160-10" cheers.

Yup - that's true. The 707160-7 is the smaller of the three and is equivalent specs to the HKS GT-SS turbos.

The 707160-5 is the equivalent specs to the HKS 2530's.

If you look on the Garrett website, you'll see they mention both the 707160-5 and the 707160-7 (but not the -10 for some reason - but as you have seen they do exist)

The other thing that confuses people is that these turbos used to be called GT2560r, whereas now they are referred to as GT2860r since Garrett changed their naming conventions.. so don't be put off if someone refers to these as GT2560r.

You can see all this info on these links:

707160-7

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_707160_7.htm

707160-5

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_707160_5.htm

And this link shows you the change in "naming" from GT25xxx to GT28xxx

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre.../gt_basics.html

But yes, to answer your question, mine are the 707160-7 because I wanted faster spool up.

Hope all that makes sense! I did a fair bit of research on all this when I was buying them.

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
