Old 5 knob job SAFC

To put it simply I would buy a PowerFC if I had the money, but I've found an SAFC in my price range, but it's an old one. Will this let me do similar things to the newer one (not the SAFCII, the one before that).

It seems that the car is running really really rich, and I want to try and fix it.

I will post a pic of the SAFC and then dyno graph as soon as I can.

Anyone help me?

The old ones aren't nearly as good, but if it's cheap then buy it, it will help to lean out the A/F ratio. The old ones don't have the same level of resolution, but will help to make more power anyway.

if the new ones have better resolution, will they be smoother compared to the older ones?

my only argument is the price difference. as you said, if its cheap then buy it

Yes, they newer ones will give you a more accurately controlled fuel curve, but if you never after bigger power then this is OK. If you do want to make the car fast then buy something better.

i basically just want to lean it out a little to stop it from smoking heeps. although i would like a little extra power from it simply because I'm not keen on spending my money on something that doesnt really do anything to the performance. I did a search and adam32 managed to get 45rwhp extra from his. If this much is possible I'd be over the moon.

but later on down the track Im going to upgrade the turbos, maybe get them steel wheeled. then injectors, pump you know the story. when I get to that stage I will just sell the safc.

I'm not expecting huge power gains from it but something would be nice. If you want I can send you the dyno graph and a video of the car revving. there you can really see the smoke!

Yeah, they work fine, need to get it tuned on the dyno though.

i got an extra 50rwhp from +2psi and tunin the AFC (yes it was on the same dyno) so they do work. however its fairly stone-age with only 5 load-points
