"Price of Petrol" -

The following sounds like a good idea. A very interesting idea...AND it will work if ALL Australians get behind it!!!

We are going to hit close to $1.35 a litre by the winter.

Want petrol prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.

Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at .89 / .95 cents, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace, not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

Here's the idea.

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the biggest oil company: BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (and not buy at BP). How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 80cents a LITRE RANGE

Action - It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Caltex, Mobil, etc. and drive right on by BP Stations. Start TODAY.

Sounds stupid. If your in Perth especially, all fuel in Perth is made by BP. How are they going to care if you buy shell or caltex?

Its simply piped up to freo and mixed with the various ingredients which make shell and caltex different. At a wholesale level its still bought from BP.

well arnt we mr negative :)

there still not gonna like it if no1 buys from them directly

u r just saying this cos ya from Kazahkstan and u want oil prices to go up so u can keep ripping people off and then get blown up by the rest of the world because those places r hated so much :D

LOL

Well the only person you'll really be hurting is the BP franchisee's. Even though they make next to nothing in terms of margin on fuel, it still matters. Besides they'll have less people buying dodgy meat pies and coke from them :D

Perth is a great city for a fuel company to establish a base. Total monopoly on fuel sales. There has been many an investigation into them price fixing and so on. But they'll sell the fuel anyway to someone whether it be wholesale or retail.

Still at least you eastern staters have a second performance fuel to choose from. We HAVE to buy Ultimate98.

I dunno.. I read an interesting idea: somebody suggested it would be just to buy the best petrol you can and fill up a massive in-ground tank (like the farmers use). So you get whatever bulk discount you get for massive litres. Then you buy a couple of barrels of toulene (which is apparently not too expensive) and whack it in. Mix it all up to good specs and have your own high octane fuel or so and sell it at cost.

Kinda weird, but maybe not so silly?

hold on you are forgetting somthing

if you want us to stop going to bp and going to other comanys not BIG Companys?

what about the fuel. the quailty of it. and what will it do to our cars. i personally wouldnt go to some no brand name fuel company i dont trust the bastards

how are we going to get around this with out recking our cars or getting the right fuel for them

one person cant make a difference

lol =)

negative bastard iam

agree with ya there Red17, the idea of that email is good if you have a alternative to BP98, but being in perth, we have no alternative!! i havent paid under $1.05 for it in the last 2-3weeks, with the most i have paid being around $1.17, i think i mite buy a bicycle. :D

Yep me a Perth boy 2 so we r stuffed coz BP is the only place that sells the petrol we use!

BP already controls all the market 4 ppl who want performance petrol so really they can charge wateva they want!

It suks as ive only had my car for 2 months which is around the time petrol skyrocketed and now i cant drive it coz i cant afford 2!

My brother has started riding his GSXR to work instead because its more economical than his 180SX.... now thats sayin something considering things like tyre wear ($400 for something decent on the rear), sprocket and chain wear (wear out quick when you spend alot of time on one wheel), servicing every 2500km and fuel guzzling 39mm mikuni flatslides with a dynojet race kit and Yoshimura pipe.

And its STILL cheaper than the 180SX?

God damn wars!

    • I don't think the shuffle can damage the turbos. It only happens at low shaft speeds and loads. It's just annoying (to some people - others are tickled by the effect) and it quite possibly reduces spool performance a little bit.
    • Oh dear. The panel beating needs to be done before the filler work. Do you have a photo of the dent before you started? Hard enough to not flex and only hit the high spots?  What do you mean it was just temporary?
    • Can u check this way it works for power supply?
    • These coils draw 10amps that what i read online
    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
