Hi all,

Looking to change my O2 sensor. Picked one up from repco during their Easter sale, but they didnt have the socket in stock.

My mechanic doesnt have one. So was wondering if someone on the Forums might have one I could borrow?

I'm in Hawthorn btw. Would only need it a day or two.

Cheers.

the o2 sensor tool bends/expands when you try to take the o2 sensor... or the one that i borrowed off scotsman does.

try cutting a wrench in half to fit it down there then use a big piece of metal to lever it.

If you have the right size normal socket (I think its 22?) and somesort of ratchet spanner or shifter you can do it without the tool :)

Grab a hammer and chisel and knock the bulk of the sensor right off. Snap the socket over the top which will now fit and take it off.

fit the new one on and you should be able to get it tight enough with a spanner (although you might have to play around with it coz its very tight in there). You wont be able to get it super tight without the proper 02 sensor tool but you should be able to get it tight enough without it, and anyway then the next 40,000kms it wont be so hard to take off again :D

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
