Hey everyone,

Anyone had to appear in court for having a sticker plate on the front of the car? Of course ie helps cooling but after being pulled over a couple of months ago in Fremantle and the cops pulling off the plate I now have a summons to appear in court, or just plead guilty.

Any experiences would be appreciated :P.

as what bully said... cope the fine and dont do it again!...

if you are smart man do above...

if you are stoopid challenge what police said, and proove they are in wrong.

but it is not worth the hassel. you want to go throught for small thing like not displaying plate...(sorry it polly big thing for you) as I work in law firm I see things worst than simple traffic fines.

but Good luck mate!

Just ask yourself that; IS IT WORTH IT! :P

cheers

Joe

I'm not saying what I did wasn't wrong, I just didn't know, I bought the car with the plate like that so it was news to me. I'm cool with it being illegal and willing to pay up but how much would it be? That's why I asked if anyone had already been in the same boat :P.

ignorance isnt a defence in court so just plead Guilty but emphasize that as it came with the car when you purchased it you assumed it was legal - then if you put in enought yes your honours no your honour and bow your head at him.her as you enter court you may get off lightly

Rather just cop the fine (no pun intended), hassle getting to Fremantle on a work day especially since I work in the city. I was surprised the Police just didn't give me a fine there and then, that's why this came as a surprise two months down the track and a letter turns up, pretty sure the officer told me but so much adrenalin pumping through the system when they go through your car... everything else was tip top, they had a go at the tyres (Bridgestone RE540 Potenza's), telling me they weren't road legal, I told them sorry but they were (DOT stamped on the side) but no... 10pm at night, they call up the state manager of Bridgestone to ask him, embarrassed he was wrong, they left me alone after that.

Thanks for the advice :P.

You've got our attention with that statement.

Did you do that at Kwinana???

If so can you post the details off the slip and tell us all what's been done to your car to pull those times

Cheers

have you been served with the summons yet? or did they just threaten with u a summons? if they threatened dont worry they said to a friend of mine expect a summons for dangerous driving in the mail (he was caught draggin) and it never happened! Panick when u get it. But i thought sticker ones were legal? they should be!!

lol

Not at Kwinana, private road with timing gear, didn't want to embarrass myself if it broke. I'm waiting a carbon fibre vented bonnet (got some heat issues) and oil cooler installation before taking her down to the Motorplex.

Quite a bit has been done. Had the car for under a year now and spent quite a bit and didn't mean to!

Still using standard internals and, clutch replaced, already cracked a piston on Barbagallo once, requiring an engine rebuild (rebuilt with standard as I didn't think I was going to keep the car, you know, beating yourself up coz you just broke the car having fun, but now it's just been getting better and better should've gone for forged internals and yes I'm keeping her now).

Engine (from what I know, I'm nowhere near an expert, definitely a novice enjoying what the car has to offer and paying a good man for his knowledge and workmanship)

- Rebored cylinders and resleeved, little larger than normal being new, ceramic coated piston tops

- Oil catch tank

- K & N Filter

- Electric thermo fan

- Timing has been advanced

- Modified plennum

- Very large custom inter-cooler

- 3" exhaust system all the way to the engine, using an Apexi N1

- From what we know the turbo is standard housing but the pull of the car leads us to believe it's been hi-flowed

- Few coolant hoses replaced due to splitting

Eletronics

- Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller

- Mines ECU

- Apexi Boost/EGT Guages

- AutoMeter Pro Shift Light

- Trust Turbo Timer

Suspension

- Combination of Koni and Bilstein

Tyres

- 17" Bridgestone RE540's Potenza's, 255 rear, 235 front

Brakes

- Standard discs and callipers but using Pagid Blue pads with racing silicone brake fluid

Because I couldn't help myself when I won a small fortune from lotto

- Sparco Pro 2000 seat

- Willians 6-point harness

- Fire extinguisher (I wonder why?)

Things to come:-

- Carbonfibre vented bonnet

- Oil cooler

- Heat wrap exhaust system

- 18" x 9.5" Advan Racing rims with rubber to suit

- Braided brake lines

- Cool box the air filter as there is a vent on the new bonnet for that

At that stage I think I'll stop and think about putting money into a car just with a race purpose in mind otherwise the car will get insane and I don't want an insane car on the road (for obvious reasons).

Nizmo,

Yep, received by registered mail today so definitely been served with the summons. It took nearly two months to turn up though.

Stickers are definitely NOT legal, I contacted the Department of Transport and they confirmed, the ONLY plates legal on WA roads are the ones they provide and they don't do a reflective sticker version so only the slimline custom are small enough. Although you think they would have to have something, look at the Lotus Elise, no where easy to put that plate!

i got fined once for not diplaying a numberplate properly, it was in the front window as i didnt have holes in the front bumper for the plate yet, the gave me a $50 fine with no demerits for "Obscuring numberplate" i know someone else with a sticker for their numberplate, and i think hey have been fined once, and they only got the $50 fine too, but it seems strange they have summoned you for such a small thing?????

Cam.

They have just started doing that now, since they caught too many people with no front plate, and they could only give a $50 fine.

Although some people have got off lightly when they geniunely had an excuse (like FMIC just fitted and no where to put the plate), depends on the cop.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
